How are we notified if we are line for an interview? Text, mail or email or all of the above? And does in line means our schedule for interview?
I signed up for text/email notification and received neither. My status on the "case status" website showed that I was in line - that's how I found out.

I'm in line for interview schedule.

Biometrics scheduled for 01/03/17 in Chatsworth, CA.

my NOA date is 11/25/16 I just received it in the mail today. I didn't receive an email or text notification that my application had been accepted. Also, my application number is weird and I can't track it using USCIS case status tracker, is anyone else having this problem?

Payment processed the day after Thanksgiving, didn't think they'd be open but there you have it!

I very recently received and replied to an RFE for my Removal of Conditions application. I am kind of in the same situation as in my name is not on ANY of our utility bills or mortgage. We do have a joint bank account to which my salary is deposited, however, my name is not on the "main" bank account that contains the majority of our finances. When I received the RFE, I wrote a cover letter explaining our financial situation ie. My name isn't on the utilities or mortgage as I didnt have credit history when I entered the US Etc. I also explained why I am an authorized user on my husband's credit card but rarely make transactions on it. You should definitely include the following:
- Cover letter.
- Bank statements from your joint bank account spanning three years (I sent in one for every quarter). Even though we don't have a lot of money in this account it still shows a history of "co-mingling".
- Tax statement/transcripts
Do you have joint auto insurance? Even though you're paying if it shows her as being on the policy that would help also.
In total I sent in 107 pages and it was a pain but we got approved so it'll be worth it in the end!
-
congratulations tool, did they update the status on USCIS website when you received an RFE? or did it just get updated for the first time once the card was in production
The online status was not updated when they sent the RFE or when they received my response. It only updated to say that the card was in production. Apparently it's very common for this to happen (according to what I've read on this website).
-
Card went into production yesterday, exactly one week after they received my RFE response.

Got my NOA on 27th of November 2015, still case pending on California Service Center, most of Dec also approved. Didn't get any notification like RFE or anything else. Called USCIS and they said normal processing time is 6 - 8 months, but most of the cases from Nov and even Dec have been approved. Not sure why it's taking too long.. any ideas guys? Thanks
My NOA date is 25th November and I haven't gotten approved yet either. I did get an RFE earlier this month so at least I know they're working on my case! There are a lot of people here who haven't received approvals yet so don't worry you're not alone . If you can, I would recommend calling USCIS and putting in an inquiry about your case through a Tier 2 rep. Good luck!
-
Yes the RFE was the next day ..
I called June 2nd and the RFE dated June 3rd.
I applied with waiver on battery and extreme cruelty. Didn't get any help from lawyer. I think I will need some.
But if it is the case just to spice up the wait time, its bad. as its gonna increase the cost to hire lawyer .
I am not filing based on waiver of abuse and I still got an RFE so it may not be because of your circumstances. What evidence did you submit the first time? Maybe someone on here can help you with ideas of what else you might be able to send them.
-
Got a RFE after calling them last week. Strange !!!!!!!!!
Not sure what to do .
Same thing happened to me!! The RFE was dated the same day that I called.
-
Spoke to a Tier 2 who was actually useful. Went through my previous package and said there isn't much else I can send them (besides the additional bank statements) She said and I quote "sometimes the case officer doesn't go through the entire package, so just re-send what you sent before". What a waste of paper (and time). I'm going to send them a huge package and have all the documents notarized.
-
Did I understand you correctly? You only sent 1 bank statement? USCIS likes to see continuity...so bank statements from the inception of your marriage to the time of filing. You don't have to include every single month's statement if you didn't want to but at least quarterly. Sending 1 bank statement could be enough to trigger an RFE. The mortgage thing shouldn't be a problem.
Yes I only sent in one month's bank statement. I figured they'd give more weight to the tax filings than the bank statement but I guess I was wrong. I'll send them one from each quarter thanks for the advice!
-
Can I ask how many bank statements you initially sent? Also how many years worth of tax returns did you send? Did you send returns or transcripts?
I sent them one month's bank statement for a joint checking and savings account including all transactions (to include salary deposits). We also sent them two years of jointly filed tax returns (form 8879, one of which included the combat pay tax exemption).
We both have our own credit cards and are authorized users on each so I asked the bank to send a letter saying my husband is an authorized user on my card.
We don't have any loans out except for the mortgage which is obviously under my husband's name since he bought the house before we got married and - being an immigrant - I had no credit history when I first moved here that would qualify me for loans (and we never had a need for them!!!).
The bizarre thing is, for my first 2-year green card, we actually got it expedited and I received it in 3-months.
-
I included:
- Affidavits from two people who we work/socialize with
- A document showing me as the primary beneficiary on his life insurance
- My Military dependent ID listing husband as sponsor
- My husband's leave and earning statement showing he is married (this isn't that great evidence though because it doesnt have my name on it)
- Joint bank account statements
- A copy of my passport with my husband's name listed on it.
- Joint auto insurance
- A health insurance claim document showing both our names and address
- joint tax returns
LOL I am literally out of ideas right now.
-
Congrats, in same boat! Was explaining that indeed house was bought far before I entered this country.
Soooo what additional documents are you sending?! I could really use some ideas as I only have a few days to respond to this before I travel.
-
Wow... I just received an RFE asking for documents that I already submitted. The ONLY thing on the list that I didn't provide was joint mortgage agreements because the house is not under my name. such BS.
-
I'm pretty sure you won't need a visa for Canada since (as per the extension letter) your permanent residence is extended for one year.
For those travelling to Canada I wouldn't worry at all about the extension letter as Canadian and American immigration are on the same page in most matters and I'm SURE Canadian immigration have seen this letter before. Id be more concerned if I were travelling overseas to Asia or the Mid east (which is where I'm going)
PS I'm jealous and wish I was travelling to Canada because it's awesomeeeeeee .
-
NOW you look better i think if you guys are same religion culture that helps i belive vs someone totally different making a red flag arrise your just trying to get outta there.
Also helps you didnt stay but you had the right to stay dont let anyone push you around you are not furniture...at least i think No offense
Next question are you divorced from first husband??
If this is true that would be a better route but i belive her religion (if im assuming right) you cant date like we do so at least she can come here freely and marry
Anitafeliz, you're placing way too much emphasis on the religious aspect of things. My husband and I are different religions and cultures and I was asked about this in my K1 interview but it (in no way) affected our eligibility for the visa or any subsequent immigration proceedings.
-
I'm going to be traveling within the US, through Europe and to Asia so we'll see how that turns out!!!! I'll definitely post on how everything went and thanks for the info everyone.
The good news is, when I called USCIS (both times) they said the processing time for this case is 6 months so anyone on here who's application has crossed this time-frame can call and submit an inquiry.
-
Another thing the rude guy said was that "Everyone has to get interviewed before they can issue the green card" Is this true? I haven't really heard from many people on this forum that they were interviewed.
-
Could be the case, but getting the temporary green card stamp seem like a good idea, at least call your local office and check it out.
I just checked about making an appointment.... of course "there are no appointments available in your area at this time".
-
Interesting... I spoke to a Tier 2 rep today and he said that it's okay to travel with the extension letter. He didn't mention the option of getting a stamp in my passport. He was also very rude so maybe he just didn't want to give me that information.
My husband just received his green card yesterday, and the letter that came with it said not to travel with extension letter. They said if you have to travel, make a appointment with the local USIC and get a temporary green card stamp in your passport to cover you on your travel or you will have a hard time getting back into the USA.
Jmack, you said that your husband received this letter with his green card. Could it be that they asked him not to travel with the extension letter because it is considered null/void once the green card is issued?

Soooo I got a text two nights ago from USCIS saying my case has been "updated" and to check my case status online. But my case status hasn't changed. Has this happened to anyone else? Just trying to figure out if this means they "touched" my file or something.
