  1. Lee&Ana- I am a very lucky man to have found and married Dahlia....we both have learned how to love each other more and more each day, give and take, listening, and understanding your partners position and feelings.

It takes both people to make this work. Ana is certainly the one that is in the disadvantaged position and many people have posted about that, compassion, time and understanding on your part needs to be an investment you make in your future with her, at this point she cannot see this.

True Love is when you give to your partner without expecting anything in return....do you have true love for your wife ??

If you don't have what it takes to make this work, then be a strong man and pay her way back home if that is the only direction she wants to go, you can't force someone to love you or appreciate what you are doing for them. For her, maybe she needs to grow and mature before she is ready for the American way of life....

Just my thoughts....best of luck to both of you !!!

    Cheers,

    Curt

  2. This would affect someone like me, who is a USC, and who is traveling with my AOS husband. We were not allowed to get him an SSN and his DL will expire when his I-94 does. So from the time his DL expires to the EAD, what would these individuals do? They are legally present in the US, so what about this gap?

(My state, Texas, does have an extension for compliance.)

Anyone that is here legally in the US can get a SSN, this is issued by the Federal Government and the rules are the same anywhere in the US.

Sounds like you were dealing with an uneducated SS Representative or your husband did not have the proper status or documentation.

When my wife, here legally...went to get hers...she was also told no, we had to educated the SS Representative and then she found out we were correct....

Do not take no for an answer....check out the requirements and keep pushing... :-)

    Cheers,

    Curt

  3. Hi,

As a Philippines citizen, your wife needs a visa to enter Canada. Once she gets the green card, she can use that to enter Canada instead of a visa.

The AP/EAD card does nothing for Canadian entry. It will not help her get a visa.

She can either wait for her green card or apply for a Canadian visitor visa.

    Best of luck.

Thanks for your reply....I was afraid of that, but it is, what it is.....

    Cheers

  4. So My wife just received her AP/Employment Combo Card.....the whole reason for applying for it was so we could go visit her brother in Vancouver BC from Seattle and also vacation a little up North.

Now we have discovered that the Canadian Government does not accept that documentation for entry into Canada and it is really only good for coming back to the US.....

Does anyone have experience with this ? with this card, is it any easier to get a multi entry Visa into Canada ? Any other way to make this work...

    Thanks for your input...ugggggg...another roadblock....!!!

    Cheers,

    Curt

  5. She should carry a copy of your marriage certificate with her until her green card is in hand. I insisted that Mrs. T-B. do this, and in fact it was crucial upon her re-entry with use of the AP. In addition, one never knows where CBP agents will lurk, and having all papers in hand can shut them down before they cause trouble.

Ok, Great...thanks for the info !!!

  6. We returned from the Philippines a couple weeks ago, with my wife using Combo card, she was taken to secondary but it took less then 30 minutes, they did ask if she had paper copy which we had also and they took one, other then that not a problem, had more people asking what it was at flight check in on return

Thanks so much for your input....what "Paper Copy" are you speaker of...

    Cheers,

    Curt

  7. My wife just received her Advance Parole and Employment Combo Card in the mail. How safe is it to travel outside the US using this card for re-entry ?

The information received says it allows Parole back into the country at the discression of USCIS...how safe is this ?....need some input from people that have used this card for re-entry....was it any problem ? what other documentation should she travel with ?

    Thanks for your input :-)

    Cheers,

    Curt

  8. We are applying for my wifes I-485 and want to also apply for the I-131 at the same time so we can go on vacation to visit her family members in Canada and also back in the Philippines while we are awaiting her green card approval.

In Part 3. Processing Information of form I-131, they ask for "Date of Intended Departure" and also "Expected Length of trip". We do not have specific plans yet, they will come later once we have the I-131 approval. Can we just handwrite in "Unknown" and "Unknown"

Any tips on filling out this form would be a great help....we want to do it right :-)

    Thanks in advance !!!

    Cheers,

    Curt

  9. Hey Curt! Welcome back.

As you already know co-sponsors being accepted with the K-1 visa is hit and miss at best. Having his mother as a co-sponsor is a big plus. Too bad he didn't get married while in the Phils... qualified co-sponsors have to be accepted with the spousal visa.

Regarding the Evidence of Support, there have been a fair number that have not been asked for the I-134, ITR & W-2.

Hi Hank...glad to see you are still helping people out on this site..... :-)

If he did get married in the Phils....what is the timeline like getting his spouse here ? I have heard in the past it took couple of years....

What do you mean... " there have been a fair number that have not been asked for the I-134, ITR & W2"....are these not required to file for a K-1 or K2 Visa ?

    As always....Thanks Hank !!!

    Cheers,

    Curt

  10. I have a friend that wants to bring his fiance' to the US from the Philippines, he just spent 2 months with her in the Philippines and now wants to get started with her Visa.

His income has not been very stable the last couple of years because of medical reasons and he wants to use his mother as a co-sponsor...does anyone have any recent information about this process ? is it currently being allowed from the Embasy in the Philippines ?

He is worried now because he saw on a lawyers website that they don't allow this.....

Any stories or input would be greatly appreciated.

  11. Are the states and local election boards unable to prevent voter fraud? Dk they need the federal government to come in and run their elections?

The Federal Government should support laws that prevent voter fraud and support the local governments for the same.......but it does not because it is currently run by Liberals that need illegal votes to stay in power....it needs the votes of illegals and those who are able but do not want to work for a living...."The Takers"

Our current government wants people dependent on them....they take the money from the people that do work and pay taxes and give it to the people who do not work and do not pay taxes and those people will most likely always vote for the Democrates.....this will continue to be a negative influence on our way of life here in the US.

Does it not upset you when you are dealing with "legal Immagration" playing by the rules....spending your time and money to do the right thing....and then an illegal casts a vote that cancels yours out......I am guessing that most all the illegal votes are for the Democrates !!!!

How about President Obama giving amnesty to millions of illegals that are here in the US.....again, it is all about votes !!! not about what is right.

How does that make you feel !!!!

    Just my thoughts and beliefs......

  12. Why haven't I seen you complaining about the outrageous voter suppression laws and the insane gerrymandering that the republicans have passed ?

Of course the cons know the only way they can win is to prevent people from voting. Conservatives are doing all they can to turn the US into Afghanistan....

Actually, it's the other way around....the liberals need illegal votes to win....voting laws are there to protect the people who should and can legally vote....they are called a "Registered US Citizen" every illegal vote cancels out a legal vote somewhere......

None of the voting laws that have been put in place surpreses people from voting that can legally vote....!!!

The Liberals are against all voting laws because they need illegal votes....it's happening right now....we see it and the DOJ does nothing about it...!!!

    Get real !!!!

  13. I am filling out the I-485 for a green card for my wife. We were married last year using a K-1 Visa here in the US.

On the I-485 form page 2 under "Part 3" they ask for "Marital Status" Would the answer be based on when the K-1 Visa was issued or the current status when filing the I-485 ?

I am confused because in the filled out "I-485 example form" from this site, the box under "Marital Status" is checked as "Married" and the example person entered the US on a K-1 Visa.

I don't want to make a mistake here......

    Thanks for your help :-)

  14. Dahlia and I are celebrating our 1st year of marriage together here in Seattle today and we could not be happier :dancing:

It took me almost 8 months and 4 trips to the Philippines to get the love of my life here, but it was all worth it !!!

Keep plugging away at your dreams of being together and it will happen….it just takes time.

Or story is one of success, love, and a great life together.
