  1. Hello VJ.. My wife is travelling to her home country. We had a issue leaving because the name on her reservation didn't match the name on her passport. They eventually was able to print her ticket.

She does have her married name on her Green-card.. How much trouble will it be for her to re-enter the US?

Her maiden name is on her passport so does she have to change the name on her passport while she's visiting her country?

    Thanks for any insight.. Gee

  2. Well, you can double check it, but I'm pretty sure there will be the same answer that you need to get approved EAD first, since you intend to apply for SSN after the marriage. Here is the link for you, so you could find the information about the forms you need to submit. If your wife came here as a fiancee visa holder. just follow this guide:

    Good luck

    what is EAD?

  3. Thanks everyone for your replies..

I'm in Louisiana and we were able to get married without a SSC.. Only had to sign an affidavit stating that she's here legally. As far as the marriage certificate, It has her maiden name. So I assume that it's changed elsewhere?

So am I supposed to file the AOS before the SSC?

BTW: what form is the AOS? I-130?

  4. Micro Hotel is a bit pricey for the neighborhood that is in, in my opinion. But if you are looking to stay real close to the consulate that is the hotel stay in.

I myself stayed at the Jardines and the owner is the best and makes you feel at home.

Yoli. Booking.com has Jardines at $60 per night. Is that correct?

  5. it normally takes about 2 weeks...or up until they are booked solid that month

    Hi Yoly,

You can track the DHL package on the DHL website.

Once you confirm delivery, check your case number on the https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspxsite. If the case says ready, then you can start the ds-160 visa application. After the application is paid, you then go to https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/ to create a profile. From this site, you're able to setup you appointments.

There are two separate appointments. The first is the VAC where they take pictures and finger prints (which the petitioner does not have to attend) the second is the Consulate interview, which the petitioner must attend. Once, the appointment is confirmed, then he can go for the medical examination. FYI.. It's $290US if he needs vaccinations.

From the time the package was received to the scheduling of the interview was about 2 weeks for us.

    Good luck..

  6. 1) No, the DOS will send the case to DR. You want to call DOS/NVC to get your new case number to track the status.

    2) Nothing is sent to the beneficiaries address. You choose where you want to pick up the visa out of the locations they provide you.

    Hello AverysMom,

I'm referring to when the consulate sends the packet to the beneficiary. But, if nothing is sent to the beneficiary's address, then how will she know to schedule the appointment? Are you sure that I don't have to change her address?

    Regards,

    E.
