  1. Partita,

I also have a Ukrainian spelling on all documents and in everyday life I was also using the Russian spelling. In fact, to my surprise, USCIS sent me the receipts using Russian version but that's besides the point...

Answering your question, it's up to you. If they ask you will explain. I personally plan to bring it up during my interview given how unpredictable the IO can be. And I actually mentioned it also on my N400 - in the question of "list all names used".

Olna83, thanks so much for your advice! Good luck with everything!?
  2. Hey,

I'm from Ukraine as well and I have an identical situation with the spelling of my first name. Don't worry about it as you have a chance to explain it during your interview. BTW, it's been discussed in the topic below.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. My situation is a little different, as I have a Ukrainian spelling on all documents, but in everyday life I was using Russian spelling of my name quite a lot. And my question really is whether I should mention it myself during the interview, or it really doesn't matter at all.
  3. Good day Everyone!

I would really appreciate your advice on one matter :

My Naturalization interview is scheduled for May, and I recently became concerned about the portion that says Other Names Used. I come from Ukraine where the name spelled differently in two languages - Ukrainian and Russian. I provided the name which has Ukrainian spelling as it is the name on all of my legal ids - my passport,BC, and GC.

However, a lot of times I used Russian spelling of my first and last names in everyday life as in Ukraine both versions of the name are used on daily basis depending on the language spoken. Now I am worried because I DID NOT put a Russian version in the Other Names Used section, naturally assuming that it is the same thing. Should I correct it during the interview and mention this to the IO? Or should I just relax? ☕️

    Thank you,

    Partita?

  4. I tried multiple times to submit it, but every time there was an error message that the form number is wrong and the case number cannot be located. I checked the info many times and everything was correct, so it might be a problem with the system. Can I request by phone to have the I 797 resent to me or do I have to wait 30 days before I can request it?

Also, how important is it to have an official letter of approval on hand?

    Thank you,

    Partita

  5. I called USCIS and was transferred to a higher level officer since my case is outside of normal processing time. After I gave officer the case number and such, she asked me whether I received my approval notice, and after I told her that I was calling to inquire about my status, she said I got approved and should receive an approval letter in 3 to 5 weeks! So basically, my online status still shows Initial Review - Status Received, however, according to the officer, my case is approved! I will let you know the approval date once I receive the letter. It's been quite a long wait for VSC... I wish everyone the best of luck and finally, fast approvals ;)

  6. Hello VJ Members,

Even though my filing window opens in 3 months, I am starting to gather all the necessary documents, and I need some advice.

    1) Our joint account is linked to my husband's primary account which he had long before our marriage. Should we get some kind of statement to show that our Joint account and his primary account are linked? (we transfer money all the time between the accounts).

    - Once I downloaded our 2 years joint account statements - the beginning and ending balance looks really small on the 1st page ( like $55/less or more) but, if to see the transaction page - there are a lot of deposits and we basically spent everything by the end of each statement. Would they look into transaction page, or would they just see the balance of the first page and think that that is a very small sum?

    2) We have a lot of credit cards where we are authorized users of each others card. Should we just send copies of credit cards that show the same number, or should we get some kind of letter from the bank?

Also, 2 cards were open really recently (this summer), one card a year ago, and another one before our marriage. Should we send all of them?

    - We have debts on these cards, and most of them are not payed off yet. Should we send the statements? I hope it is not too bad that we have debts...

Thank you for reading, and I would appreciate any advice.

    Best,

    Partita
