  1. No replies, which is a good sign :) Can I safely assume that my cover letter looks OK and ready to be sent? I'm sending it out during lunch hour. Thanks for reading guys :)

    Let me be the first to answer then;

    Your list & letter looks excellent!

    I think you would have no problems going through to the next round :)

    Good luck!!

    Thanks Laurahlover!

    It's so funny we married in Pfister too(2007)!!!!! lol :lol:

    Just sent the package and hoping for the best.

    I had some trouble during AOS where they kept sending the interview letter to the wrong address and getting returned. :unsure:

    Really? What...The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, here?

    You live in Milwaukee as well then??

  2. Note that you need as much evidence of financial co-mingling as you can. Your list seems to lack some of this i.e. joint taxes, join bank and credit card accounts - and over a period of time too.. not just as of this moment.

    If you`d look closely we DO have joint tax returns of 2007 and 2008, also we do have two credit cards with the same account listed..

    I did take the advice of Jasminelily and had our inlaws write a statement mentioning we live with them in their house and therefore can`t present a rent and or mortgage bill.

    Thanks everyone for your responds..

  3. Hello everybody..

    It`s been a while since I posted on here...after all it`s also been about two years that USCIS has bugged

    me for the last time, however as I read on here; back in the loving arms of the USCIS"..lol

    Anyway, I am as well about to file the I-751 and I would love to hear people`s opinions on my assembled

    package so far.....

    At the moment this is what it looks like;

    - I-751 forms (filled out jointly completely and accurate) 2 forms

    - A money order for $545 USD, Associated Bank. (Filing fee and Biometrics)

    - Copies of Airplane/Train tickets from our 3 week European trip (2008) and other trips.(4 pages)

    - Copies of envelopes of holiday/birthday cards received on our address. (6 pages)

    - Copies of dental statements showing our jointly dentist visits over the last two years (3 pages)

    - Copies of Employer benefits enrollment listing spouse as dependent (4 pages)

    - Copy of confirmation of 401-K plan listing spouse as beneficiary (1 page)

    - Copies of forms of 2007-2008 taxreturns listing both names (3 pages)

    - Copies of front and back of Permanent Residence Card (2 pages)

    - One photo CD containing 130+ pictures taken between 2006-2009 verifying our ongoing relationship (vacations, trips, family photo`s)

    - Copy of Sheraton Hotel bill listing both credit cards being billed. (1 page)

    - Copy of letter from Dep. Of Homeland Security to file for a joint petition to remove the conditional basis of my permanent resident status

    - Copy of pet adoption contract listing both our names as pet owners. (1 page)

    - Copy of pet trainer organization listing both names on same address (1 page)

    - Copy of Sears Credit Cards showing joint account. (1 page)

    - 2 sworn affidavits by close friends verifying our marriage. (2 pages)

    We don`t have our own car and at the moment we still live in our Inlaw`s house so we don`t pay rent...

    (I know living with inlaws doesn`t sound that great, but I`m very luck and got the best inlaws in the world :)

    Any advice or suggestions would be highly appreciated!!

    Thanks !!

  4. Yeah, I think it would be a wise decision in this case to renew my passport!

    Thanks!

    Well if I was in your shoes I would just renew it, I dont think you will have a problem when coming back since it will be valid when they check it. But you will always need a passport to travel so why not just have it good and ready in case of anything. Enjoy your vacation!
  5. Hello everyone,

    I have a question about traveling.

    I moved to the US in 2006 and have my green card for a while now.

    My wife and me are going on a 3 week vacation in May/June to Europe.

    Now, my passport expires in August, so you`d think I`d be fine.

    However I did hear from my mum when she came here from Holland last year,

    she was told that her passport needed to be valid for at least another 6 months.

    I called the Dutch Embassy to ask about this situation, and they told me that since I

    have a green card I should be fine as long as my passport is still valid at the moment of travel.

    Does anybody know about this? Is this '6 month' rule only for tourists and does that not apply anymore

    for green card holders? If someone has any experiences with this or some info, it would be highly appreciated.

    Don`t want to end up coming back from vacation and get into problems at the airport. :crying::blush:

    Thank YOU!

  6. congratulations!

    Thank You! :blush:

    Congrats! for both!

    if you got approved for at the interview, and you been married less than 2 yrs you will get a 2 yrs conditional green card.

    If you been married more than 2 years you will get a 10 yrs card.

    both need renewal BUT the 2 yrs conditional one needs to "lift conditions" 90 days before it expires.

    Thank You!!

    We didn't had an interview and we married august 5th 2006.

    So this is I assume a 2 yrs conditional green card?

    Will they let me know when it`s the time?

    Or do i keep track myself?

  7. OMG! :blink:

    After almost a year (by a week) I finally got my Permanent Residence Card in the mail!!!!

    I am soooo happy...After my application for AOS on 9-1-2006 I had to go through;

    * 2 RFE's

    * 2 x biometrics

    * Case being denied

    * Talks with attorney

    * Apply again (+ paying all fees)

    * Re do Medical examn (+paying all fees

    :dance: So, I guess you can see my reason for joy!

    WOW...am I gonna celebrate! :thumbs:

    Is this actually the same as a green card? Or is that the card you get after the 2 years?

    Anyway, I`m glad I never gave up, cause it paid off in the end.

    Now I know I can stay safe and especially legitimate with my beautiful wife!

    I still have to update my timeline, I`ll do that soon....

  8. Hi, as you can read on my signature timeline, we received a 'denied" in the mail the other day!

    This really, really sucks! We followed all instructions, did everything by the book and more.

    So we thought..... I know now what the problem was. It appears that in the RFE they sended us in september that they asked us for a signed I-864 by the PETITIONER (my wife)as well as the sponsor.

    We only filed it filled out by my sponsor, which is my mother in law.

    However we did`nt know this.....It`s clear to me now from reading the denial...duh!

    We only wished that the RFE was so clear! We all read the RFE several times and weren't sure what they were asking for, we called USCIS and still didn't became much wiser.

    My mother in law worked for 40 (!) years for the US government and even she had a hard time understanding what they were asking for.

    So, we ended up sending a newly filled out I-864 with even more supporting documents for as far as possible. Because that much we did understand, that it had something to do with the Affadavit.

    And now then I got this letter telling me;

    'blah..blah....what I did wrong= what I just described....and then here it comes;

    Therefore, you are inadmissible and the application is denied.

    The decision leaves youwithout lawful immigration status and you are therefore present in the United States in violation of the law.You are required to depart the United States.

    Remaining in the US without authorization may effect your ability to return to the United States in the future"

    So, what the hell am I suppose to do?

    I had jsut started my life here, got a job, pay taxes, got my SS number, got married.

    Am I suppose to leave everything behind just like that?...I don`t think so!

    Plus I have nothing to return to, since I said my life in Holland goodbye.

    I am in contact with a lawyer now and she says that I could re-apply again, cause this will in the end be faster then file a motion to re-open the case.

    An appeal I can`t do, the letter says.

    Anybody any experiences/thought a :crying: :crying: :crying: bout this???

    Please let me know.

  9. I got a question, I arrived in the States may 13th, our weddingdate is the 5th of August.

    Which is like a week before my K1 expires, it`s a short notice, I agree, but we needed time

    to plan the wedding and stuff because we don`t want to have some cheesy wedding.

    Anyway, according to us we should be fine since we ARE still gonna be married within the

    obligated 90 days !!.. Our pastor promised us already to PERSONALLY handle the paperwork after

    the wedding and do this within 48 hours!...(it`s his 'normal' service but I asked for it specifically, cause

    of the short notice.)

    Now ...on the guide for AOS I read that you have to file the I-485 (and other AOS paperwork) before

    your K1 expires...??!!!

    Is it gonna be a big problem if it`s gonna be after this time?? Do we need to worry about this???

    I mean, as far as I always understood while filing and going through the whole procedure to get my

    Visa, is that they constantly mention the importance of getting married within 90 days, which is exactly

    what we do, so we should be fine...................right??? :hehe:

  10. Hi..I don`t know if i`m in the right topic for this, but last saturday I finally made it to my Girl in the USA on a K1 Visa!!.... :dance:

    I`m really happy!!..it took like 11 months.....however there are also some questions I have at this time;

    My POE was Chicago`O Hare, It only took like 5 minutes to go through immigration, the lady who was helping me was quite crabby, so she wasn`t really informative to say the least.

    She took my sealed envelope and opened it and stamped here and there, attached something inside

    my passport and such. She KEPT my files (what was in the envelope), when I asked whether they`re gonna keep it, she mumbled something that it was needed for processing??

    Is this true??...Do they normally keep that? :unsure:

    How do I go from here???...Do i get information from the USCIS? HOW? WHAT?

    I know i`m gonna need a SSN, workpermit and such? But how does that go?

    No one told me how to go from here..

    Any feedback will be very much appreciated!!

    THANK YOU>>>>>!!! :help:

  11. Hi, I don`t know what the rules are excactly, especially between Canada & the USA, but I`m from Holland and my girl is an American citizen. We`ve filed our petition in june 2005, since then I`ve travelled over to the USA 3 times, plus she came to Holland as well for no less then 3 months. I got my Visa last week,

    no-one ever mentioned anything about our travels.....so no problem, i would say...

  12. :dance: That is GREAT :dance:

    Congratulations! :dance:

    When you get time, would you please post your Embassy Interview review in the Embassy Review section?

    We are also going through Amsterdam :D

    Congratulations again :dance:

  13. After 11 months of stressful waiting, filing papers, more papers, waiting and more waiting I finally received my Visa in the mail yesterday!!!

    I had my interview last monday, yesterday (wednesday) it was delivered to my house, together with the sealed envelope for the immigration officer at my POE.

    OMG!!!...I still can`t believe it, after such a long time.....*screams hysterical*

    I right away arranged everything here with my job, booked the ticket, gave the movingcompany the final okay, and on the 13th of may I`ll be headed to the States to my Gorgeous Laurah!!!! (L)

    I want to thank everyone here for all the support and for helping me out at times when I felt lost in this Visaworld....(lol)

    I hope to all of you, things will work out, and you all will soon be re-united with your loved ones!!!

  14. But if i`m not allowed to take a bag with me how am I suppose to take my pile of paperwork, photo`s and requested relationship-evidence (pics, correspondence etc..) with me then>>>???

    You can take a bag with you... you just can't take it inside the consulate. You might want to get a folder, or document holder to keep all your papers in.

    Good luck on your interveiw! :thumbs:

    Yeah thanks!!!..

    I did thought about that and bought one, all my papers are in there...

    But then i still have 2 albums full of pics, an extra huge envelope with add. evidence like e tickets, boarding passes, receipts etc....and a thick pile of correspondence....I HAVE to take a bag with me...

    I don`t see any other way how otherwise to bring all this stuff..

  15. Yes, you're not allowed to bring in cellphones or cameras and probably no bags either. If you have any of these items with you the guard will take it from you and return it to you when you leave, so if you need a cellphone it's ok to have it just keep in mind you won't be able to use it while you're in the embassy.

    But if i`m not allowed to take a bag with me how am I suppose to take my pile of paperwork, photo`s and requested relationship-evidence (pics, correspondence etc..) with me then>>>???

  16. Hi....just a question for those who might have experience with this;

    Tommorrow i have my interview, and besides i`m already getting quite nervous,

    i`m running through everything to make sure i have everything complete and in order.

    I just visited the website of the US consulate (in Amsterdam) and it says that to your

    interview you should take with you a self adressed, signed and with 5,75 euro`s stamped

    envelope with you.

    I never found this in any forms that i got from the consulate and it also doesn`t say anything

    about it in my so called checklist from what stuff to bring???

    Don`t know what to do now....

    Anyone know about this??

    (it also says you`re not allowed to bring a backpack, camera or cellphone?!...only on the site as well) :(
