hello! we are one of french/american couple! my husband moved to L.A last June ( it took ONE year to get him green card!), things going well for both of us.
I want to learn French, it is hard to find french class here! there is Alliance francaise but it is too expensive!

we did expedite service request soon as we receive case number, one or tow days later we got expedite service approved and received email.

thank you so much Visa Journey!
Everyone was so helpful all my questions with quick response.
I don't know if i can see him before heading U.S tour with my band ( it takes 7-10 days to get his passport back) but I am very Happy and looking forward to build a new life with my husband in America.
p.s he told me lady at interview was a bit not nice. she gave him a little hard time. but he was so confident and here we go!!!

i had a similar situation for my self.
I was Japanese and living in U.S. getting naturalization ( as U.S citizen ) while processing French visa. ( to get marry and live in france)
when i was getting french visa at french embassy, i was waiting for u.s passport ( nomore green card) and i had japanese passport with me.
Whole thing i processed as Japanese even I don't have green card, they told me to wait u.s passport for visa stamp. They said they can not issue visa on japanese passport. so u.s passport came one week later, I went to embassy again to get visa stamp.
so if you are going to be Japanese citizen, i think you ganna be told to wait till have japanese passport for your immigrant visa at interview.
but make sure, call NVC and explain your situation.
good luck!

Here's the information page from your Consulate. It's a week. You can always mention at interview you need ASAP and see what they say. They usually aren't going to rush it because there still is Admin processing afterwards for them to do to conclude everything.
Have you tried requesting an earlier interview. You should contact embassy tomorrow and ask you never know it may get moved up. Hope you had your medical already.

Hi!
Thank you for your advice! yes, he already done medical and ready for interview.
yes on packet 4, it says it takes 7-10days. I saw some people got passport back next next days but there are some people took more 10days to get passport back.
I will contact embassy tomorrow to see what they say.. we are on already expedite service, not sure if we can request sooner than 22nd.
but let see..
thank you again.

Hello,
My husband's IR-1 interview is on 22nd May at Embassy in Paris France.
I like to gather some info about how many days to receive passport back from Embassy.
Anyone had an experience to pick up passport next day for emergency reason or they don't let us to pick up passport? only mailing back with cronopost ?
Thank you in advance!
merci.

I emailed to embassy with email from NVC showing expedite approval. then they replay back and saying they mailed the package which was packet 3.
almost same time, NVC sent a letter to me, our file shipped to Embassy.
you can email embassy if they received your file?
-
For our case, we were approved expedite on 27th March. then Embassy in Paris received our I-130 and my husband received packet 3 (?)and signed back DS2001 to embassy, it was 10th April.
Since then we are waiting interview date. They said they ganna mail a letter..ugh wish they can just email him!
-
yes i was told another officer that our case is on expedite service. and they shipped our file to Paris today.
when I log in to pay IV Application Processing Fees, it says:
The National Visa Center has forwarded your file to the US Embassy/Consulate where you are applying for an immigrant visa. Any other required fees must now be paid directly at the Embassy or Consulate at the time of your interview.
Please contact the US Embassy/Consulate if you have any questions. You can find the contact information by consulting this list of US Embassy/Consulate websites. -
Maybe your application has been expedited!! I would call nvc again to ask again, but it sounds like it is pretty good news!:-)
I hope so but like USCIS, everyone said different thing, so I ganna call again to talk to different person at NVC.
regarding your tax thing, I think it would be ok with 2010-2012 for now but when you have interview at Paris, you have to bring 2013 return. they might ask you to bring.
you and our case are so close each other.
maybe same interview date at paris? hehe

hello!
I called NVC today to ask questions but she told me that our files are at Embassy in France and I have to contact Embassy.
I thought our files ganna stay at NVC till case completed and interview date set up?
thank you in advance.

Thank you!! I almost filied on EZ based on current income. but I realized that i should file with i-864. so that is why i asked here to makesure.
your answer&advice make sense to me. thank you again!
-
good morning,
I'm wondering if i have to file i-864 or i could go with i-864 EZ.
I moved back to U.S for new job last Sep. new job is above the household guideline.
I filed 2013 tax return, since there are only 4month working in U.S, it is not meet household guideline with 2013 income.
2012 and 2011-- i was in france with my husband, so basically under the household guideline. I filed tax both year.
should I go with i-864 because 2013 doesn't meet household guideline?
I have all pay stubs copy and letter from company which is showing my current earning.
thank you in advance!

Don't count anybody twice. Your husband is already counted as the intending immigrant. Do not count him again. Just leave the spouse box blank and total the household as two.
thank you for your advice!
-
sorry for joining this topic, i have a question regarding household size.
I + my husband= 3 is this correct?
it says don't count the person twice, but
for i-864 EZ
a. yourself and the person you are sponsoring on this form---2
b. your spouse ----1
total 3
im very confused...

The IV fee is invoiced when your DS-261 is accepted, generally a couple of weeks after you submit it. It's a separate track and not dependant on the AOS
oh OK! thank you for info. now i know when to check in NVC site for The IV fee.
-
Today, I was able to pay AOS fee and will mail AOS tomorrow.
Im wondering how long usually takes to get invoiced IV ?
hope everything moves smoothly!!

we filed from France, then i moved back to U.S last Sep. my husband moved to his siter's house, I sent a letter to MSC, then it was success. but I tried to change my address but it was not possible to do online or on the phone.
then we found NOA2 on uscis website. They mailed hard copy to old french address. then of course it was undelivered.
then it was showing " we sent noa 2 but it was undelivered. please contact uscis asap. "on uscis website.
I called them, finally able to give my U.S address, after 10 days or so I received hard copy of NOA2 in U.S.
filing abroad is very tricky specially petitioner moving back to U.S
almost every single person says different thing USCIS, I totally agree. you have to get a lot of opinions and pick one you think right in your situation or something.
-
Hi, that is what we are going to do. We are waiting for the case number (we don't expect it before the end of the month) and then we will change the address over the phone. Never received NOA2 either, as we moved out of the UK beforehand. We filed a request with USCIS, they changed the address, but they haven't sent the notice again. However, the hard copy notice is not important for the process (Saylin answered my question), so nevermind! :-)
i guess we are on same boat!!
-
I recently changed my address on their website and got a confirmation email that my address had successfully been changed- you have to create a login and password and log in- you can make some changes on HOW they contact you there too- TEXT, EMAIL, etc
I did try same, but changing from foreign country to U.S is not possible from website.
only changing U.S to U.S address is possible. to change my husband address ( France to France), i had to mail to MSC with NOA1 copy, it was success.
