My husband got his cr1 visa approved and we just got to the states. My question is can he start working before his card comes in the mail? He doesn't have his social security number yet but he has his alien registration number. Can he start working legally without it??? It should be come soon we hope

His employment situation does not matter at all in the cr1 process...it goes by your situation and/or the joint sponsors financial info

2 suitcases for clothes etc and then I sold/gave away almost everything else. I have some things that I will eventually need/want to ship but for now mum stores them.
We did the same thing. Gave everything away and taking two suitcases of clothes. Let go of the past and move forward. You'll feel better when you start fresh. And it's less stressful. God bless

Smart Russell Square hostel. Two stops on the tube from the embassy at bond street. http://www.smartbackpackers.com/hosteldetails/United-Kingdom/London/Smart-Russell-Square-Hostel/index.htm
Easy jet has good flights to gatwick. Then the gatwick express train to Victoria and a tube to the hostel. Super inexpensive.
£14.00 a night at the hostel. Right next to the embassy and medical
Book the hostel on www.laterooms.com

The letter we received with the visa says it must be paid befor we go to the states. The site isn't working. What do we do?

Hi VJERS for the last few hours I have been trying to pay my husbands immigrant visa fee online ..(the $165 )before we go to the states next week. You have to create an account first on this site :
https://elis.uscis.dhs.gov/cislogin/privacyActStatementAction.do
But when I put in the email for them to send a confirmation link for us to create the account we have not received the confirmation email and the site says they have sent it. We have tried using multiple email addresses. Has this happened with anyone else ???? If so, what can we do? We need to pay the fee befor we leave for the states next week.

That's great. Congratulations!
A quick question for you: Did you notify the embassy before you went that you'd be attending with him (and if so, how?) or did you just show up on the day and hope to be let in?
You have to call the embassy and they will give you a code to put in the subject box to email the consulate. The number is on the uk embassy site. I emailed them about two months ago asking to be put on he list to attend as his wife.

Hey you all! My husbands interview was today and he was approved!!! Been waiting for this since September !!! God is so great!!!!! it was super fast, easy and smooth for us. I went with him and the lady who interviewed him was so nice. If you have an interview coming up, my thoughts to you...DON'T WORRY. Trust God and it will all work out. Have faith and believe!

Call the IRS department at the London US Embassy. They will tell you what you need to do.

Would they allow us just to pick the visa up from the embassy a few days later instead of sending it thru the post? Also, do they arrange a specific day to deliver the package or is it a general estimate. If they arrange an exact day and time with us it won't be a problem. If its just an estimate we won't know if we would be back home in time. His interview is this Thursday and we won't be home until next Tuesday evenin June 25th.

You can give any address to the courier when you make arrangements on interview day for passport and visa delivery. If you have a friend or relative who will be at home during the day, they can receive the visa for you. They say the receiving person needs some kind of ID from you like a credit card, a bill, driver license, but often the courier never asks. You do know that the passport is left at the embassy so make sure your travels don't require having your passport.

Hello VJ people,
I have two questions. My husband's CR1 interview is on Thursday June 20th. I applied from the states. Will they care that I've been with him most of time since July ?? I came on a spouse visa to the UK in July but I kept my USA address and applied to the Chicago lock box using my Usa address. Will they ask him about that or does it not matter to them? Also, if we are traveling and are not home when they deliver the visa, will they leave it at the post office for us to pick up when we return? Or will the take it back to London. We live in Scotland thanks everyone. I love this site !

I
Here's some background: we grew up together, then I ended up in US (I'm a citizen) he ended up in UK, our paths crossed after 18 years and we got married last year (2012) in UK. We saw each other in 2011 in Europe and then got married few months later. At his interview he had phone records, pictures, etc but all from the time we got married until recently. They are asking for evidence from the day we met, which is fine because we have it all.... Pictures, and more emails than they want to look at I'm sure (18,000+) I also printed phone records from the day we started talking in 2011.
Eva, how did you end up in the states..on what visa? Also, were you present with him at the interview. Did you go in person as well.
