  1. Hello. I filed I-130 petition for my wife and our case is complete now. We have our interview date on Sept. 3rd. Is there any process post interview? I came to know that there will be an immigration package that my wife must carry with her and submit at the USA airport. How do we get this package? I mean does my wife get it during the interview or it will be mailed to her at her postal address? I am planning to book air tickets for her and that's why I wanted to plan accordingly. Can she fly one week after the interview?

    Kindly help. Thank you.

  2. Hello. I have filed I-130, Immigration for alien spouse for my wife. Our case is being processed at NVC currently. I received a letter from NVC saying that our case has been sent for interview scheduling. I called NVC today to makes sure and the representative told me the interview date. However, I have not received any email from them yet. Still, I have the following questions for the interview call and green card.

    (1) I have done all correspondence with NVC via email. So, will I get interview letter in email or NVC will send it to my spouse via postal mail in India?

    (2) I was told that we need to apply for green card. How and when can we apply for green card for my spouse?

    (3) Will the interview letter explain about medical examination and how to apply for green card?

    (4) What documents my spouse should bring with her to the interview. (I know there is a link for this question as it is one of the most common one. Can you send me that link?)

Kindly help. I appreciate your time and assistance.

  3. 1) she can enter in US from any airport.

    2) She wont receive any Green card at Airport. They will take sealed envelope from your wife and Fingerprint.

Did you pay 165$ Greencard fess. you have to pay that before she entred in the US.

You wont get Gc until you don't pay the Fees.

Your wife must got letter when she had interview for Instructions about paying GC fees.

    3) You can Apply for SSN from GA.

make sure you give them New Address.

You said she can enter in US from any airport. Do you mean she can land at any airport in US. Just making sure.

    Thank you for your reply.

  4. Hello. My name is Aakash Mehta. I have filed I-130 immigration for my alien spouse and I have a question regarding it. Let me inform you that this question may be a very dumb question for many of you.

So, after battling with 4 different check lists from NVC, NVC finally emailed me that our case has been forwarded for an interview schedule. We should have the interview date soon. Meanwhile, I am looking to find answers to the following questions.

    (1) I filed I-130 for my wife from New York but then I moved to Georgia for my job. I still have not got GA residency or driver's license but I live in GA now. So, when my wife comes to USA for the first time after getting immigration visa, does she have to land in NY for her immigration, where I originally filed for her or she can land in Atlanta, GA and have her immigration there?

    (2) What happens during the immigration processing at the USA airport? Will she receive a greencard (permanent or temporary) at the USA airport or shall we apply for one once she has been immigrated to USA?

    (3) What about SSN? Can we apply for her SSN in GA and not NY?

I know some or all of these questions may be very stupid and dumb. But I need to make sure these things. Kindly help. If you can submit the link to read about these queries then that would be fine too.

Thank you. I appreciate your time and kind assistance.

  5. Hello. My name is Aakash Mehta. I have filed I-130, Petition for Alien Relative for my Spouse. Our case was transferred to NVC and I have finished all the processing for NVC. I have submitted DS-261 online. After that, I have paid the fees for AOS package and have sent AOS package. I have also paid the fees for immigration visa (IV) application and have sent all the necessary civil documents. Lastly, I have filled the online application for immigration visa DS-260 and I do have the confirmation letter for it.

What should be my next step. I read the NVC guide on wiki but wanted to confirm. Is there anything else that I need to do now or I just wait for the interview call?

    Kindly assist. Thank you.

  6. Hello. My name is Aakash Mehta. I have filed I-130 petition for my wife. Currently, our case is being processed in NVC. Last week, I sent the AOS package and also paid the $230 fees for the IV application package. Now, I read on the Visa Journey wiki that DS-260 replaced old DS-230 and DS-260 is an online version of DS-230. However, on my IV application fee receipt, the following was instructed.

"When IV fee payment status is PAID, each applicant must submit an Application for Immigration Visa and Alien Registration. If your case was initiated after October 4, 2010 and your case number begins with AMM, ATH, BGH, LMA, MEP, or MLT you must submit your visa application form online. Otherwise, you must submit the paper version of the form."

Our case was clearly initiated after October 4, 2010 but our NVC case number begins with BMB. So, does this mean that I must submit the paper version of the DS-230 application? I want to confirm this before I take any action.

    Kindly assist. Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Aakash Mehta

  7. Hello. My name is Aakash Mehta. I have filed I-130 petition for my wife. Our I-130 has been approved and the case is in NVC now. I just prepared the package of Affidavit of Support and I am about to mail it. The next step is IV application fees and package. In the document checklist, I see that police certificate is required for the beneficiary. So, my question is, can you scan all the documents from abroad and send electronically to the petitioner? Or you recommend mailing the documents to the petitioner?

    Kindly assist. Thank you.

  8. Hello. My Name is Aakash Mehta. I am about to submit the affidavit of support package to NVC. Now, I have a joint sponsor in my application. We file our taxes online via turbo tax and as such the copies of 1040 federal tax forms that we have do not have our original signature and date because online we submit those via e-signature. Is it okay, if I send those copies as tax documents. I do have my own W2 and my pay stubs for past 6 months. I am also sending those as proofs.

    Kindly Assist. Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Aakash Mehta

  9. Hello. My name is Aakash Mehta. I have filed I-130, petition for alien relative for my wife. Our I-130 got approved and the case is being processed in NVC right now. I think the case is up to affidavit of support step right now.

The thing is, I filed for my wife from New York and now for the job, I will have to relocate to Georgia. Do I need to have my address changed? Can I keep the same NY address, which is my aunt's address and is active? Also, if I keep the NY address, can I have my wife land in Atlanta airport in Georgia? Or as the file was petitioned from NY, she has to land in NY.

Kindly let me know. Thank you.

  10. Hello. My name is Aakash Mehta. I have filed I-130, Petition for Alien Relative for my wife. Our I-130 got approved and now the case is in NVC. NVC asked me to submit form DS-261 online and along with pay the fees for Affidavit of Support that is $88. I submitted the form DS-261 online and paid $88 fees for Affidavit of Support.

What will be my next step? Where can I submit Affidavit of Support form? Also, when I sign in to the ceac.state.gov website, in my account, there is another fee that says IV application fees $230. What is that? Do I need to pay that fee?

    Kindly help. Thank you.

  12. Hello. I am a US citizen and I recently got married to my wife in India. She is an India citizen. I am filing for her green card through I-130 spouse visa in this month. I do have an official marriage certificate with me. However, I read that secondary documents showing proofs of wedding are also recommended to submit. Can I send photo CD and video DVD of my wedding with my I-130 application package? Kindly guide as soon as possible.

  13. Hello. I became a US citizen through naturalization four months back. I recently got married to my wife in India. My wife is an Indian citizen. Now, I need to file for her Green Card to call her to USA. I am filing form I-130 for her immigration process. However, I don't earn much and I don't have much bank balance. Infect, I was an MS student until now and now I am seeking full time jobs. I am teaching biology as an adjunct faculty member and as a private tutor. However, these jobs do not pay much and as such I don't have much bank balance. I know about form I-864, affidavit of support and I may have a secondary sponsor on my wife's immigration file, through my relatives. I am planning to file I-130 in this month. Do I need to show any bank balance for I-130 spouse visa process? If yes, approximately how much bank balance is needed? Do you think this can be an issue in her immigration process? Kindly help as soon as possible. Thank you very much.
