I have a similar question: what if your case is about to be approved - it's just a matter of a few days, maybe some supervisor to look over it, etc. - when you file the N-400? Does that "freeze" the approval of your ROC and you never get the 10-year card but instead they wait to approve at the same time as your naturalization interview (e.g. 7-8 months after they would have normally approved it)?
We're trying to decide if maybe we should wait for the 10-year card instead of filing this week (when my wife is eligible) just to play it safe in terms of being able to renew driver's license, travel, etc.
Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Wondering about the same.

Thank you for the response. Now that I've had a chance to digest it, I'm feeling better. I literally read the letter and came right on here because I feel like you all understand the stress that comes along with all of this. I will let you know what happens!Ouch, they know how to "surprise" us :/ What is the RFE asking for? And what is your local filing office?

Had an infopass appt. today as well and got the stamp. Greencard expiration date is in mid March, extension letter expiration date is next week.
Good luck to us all!

Thanks all. If anyone else wants to chime in, please do!

Hi all,
It looks like everyone has different info about when we should get an extension stamp in passport if I-751 has been pending for a year or more.
The extension letter received in the beginning of the process, does it extend status to the date on the NOA to a year later or does it extend the green card dates?
Please let me know your thoughts!
Thank you.

Hey guys,
My ROC was received by Vermont on the 25th of January 2016 and got the biometrics a few days later.
To my surprise, I just received a notice of approval dated at the 19th (less than 11 months to be processed!!). Visajourney was a great and reliable resource in this long and painful process and I thank you guys for the support. I hope that all of you January filers get approved as fast as possible!
Hi there! Congratulations! Was your status updated online? Or it still just says case received?
Thanks!

Hi everyone!
We are about to send our ROC documents and the problem is the package is thick and heavy. Fedex can only fit it in a cardboard box for documents.
How did you mail your documents? Will uscis accept our small box?
Thank you for the input!

Hello everyone,
We filed our taxes in January 2014: our accountant made a mistake and wrote down that my husband was 'single'.
In January 2014 I was still waiting for my greencard papers. We found the mistake right before the green-card interview in March but were lucky not to have been asked to show the tax papers at the interview.
After I received my green card and became a Permanent Legal Resident, we filed the AMENDED tax return where we corrected the mistake and filed as "married filing jointly'. We received the amended tax return soon after in April.
My question is: did we have to show my taxes from Russia?
When we filed the amended return I was already a greencard holder. Never worked in the US in 2013.
Did I have to show my 2013 income from when I was still living in Russia in 2013?

Hi guys , here we are ready to send out our AoS packet to USCIS but -
We filed our k1 petition, all documents and papers before I moved to the US using our OLD address, which is my husband's parents place. We moved a month ago and filled out the AOS papers using the NEW address.
Should I notify USCIS online about the address change before I send the packet? Or should I just use the new address everywhere? Please share your experiences.
Thank you in advance!!!

Which one of the W2 copies should we include with 1040 form? W2 Copy 2 or W2 copy B?
Does it matter at all?

Guys, DOS call center employees can provide you with different info at times of the day. try calling them twice withing 1-2hr difference.

Yes, it's just standard text. You won't receive any instructions from the NVC. They should ship it out within a few days to the embassy.
In other news, had our interview yesterday and we were approved!
YEY, congratulations!!!!!!

Status says At NVC, and below there is a text saying Please follow the instructions you received from NVC... . Is it a standard text below? Does it appear for all K1 applicants?

Ours doesn't show anything yet..did I maybe write down the case number wrong??

About Texas transfers
Did everyone actually get the change of status on uscis website that 'your approved case has been shipped to the department of state and so on' when it was really sent out?
Or it might be sent out to NVC without this update on the uscis website?

Call USCIS at the main number and tell them about this. They may be able to confirm the number.
