Hi all! I filed for Removal of Conditions in July last year, got my NOA in August and had my biometrics in September. My online USCIS thing says my "case was received" but it hasn't been updated since. My green card expired on September 4th 2016, though my 1-797 NOA states that I have a one year extension, which takes me to September 4th 2016.
My worry is that I have to go abroad to Australia this September, for a short time. My job will apply for a temporary work visa for me to get into Australia, but the trip is after my extension expires, so I'm concerned about getting back into the US after the trip. I just looked at the infopass website and all it says is there are no appointments available and I should check back tomorrow. Is there any other way to get the stamp in my passport?
Or anything else I can do?

Hey everyone! I submitted my ROC paperwork in July 2016 and had my biometrics in August. My online account still says this:
"On August 9, 2016, we received your Form CRI-89, Petition to Remove Conditions of Permanent Resident Status Received"
Is that right? Will it stay like that until it switches to card production?
Also, I have to travel to Australia for work this September, which requires an Australian temporary work visa. I have to submit my green card to my boss to get me the visa... can I use my current expired green card but also submit the letter of extension? It will have expired by the time I travel though, so I guess I'll have to go get that stamp in my passport? :-/

Thanks everyone!!
I actually didn't get AP (I misunderstood what it was and thought it was for specific travel and not just for visiting, so I didn't want to risk traveling with it) so that's why I wanted to make extra sure that I'd be ok with my passport and GC.
Thanks for the tip, sweet cakes, my passport does have my maiden name so I'll be sure to take the marriage certificate with me!
So excited to go back to England and stock up on some of my favourite chocolate treats from home! (And see friends, of course, but let's be honest… I'm going for the chocolate.)

Hello all!
January AOS filer here and my wait is aaaaaalmost over, as my green card is set to arrive today!
Quick question though… once I have that green card, is that all I need to get back into the USA if I go abroad? I've had a flight booked for next week for a while so I can travel with my husband while he goes away for work, and I was keeping my fingers crossed that I'd be able to go with him. So as long as I have my valid passport and a green card, is that all I need to travel? Or are there any other final steps to take?
I've read some things about people having to get stamps in their passport as a kind of temporary green card, but I guess as my USCIS update says my card is on its way then I don't need to do that?
Any clarification on this would be wonderful!
Good luck to everyone else out there still waiting!

Congrats, Superlove!
Got my approval yesterday too!
HANG IN THERE, EVERYONE!! IT WILL HAPPEN!!!

I finally got my approval and welcome letter, GC should come in soon!
For everyone still waiting, good luck and hang in there!
Hey congratulations!! Your timeline is quite similar to mine… just wondering, do you remember when you got the interview waiver letter?

Hey all, I posted on this exact topic but in the wrong forum. Being based in DC, I'm assuming we're in the VSC (My wife and I have an immigration lawyer so I actually haven't familiarized myself deeply with the process). Here's my update, which makes me think my wife and I have a longer than normal waiting time based on others' timelines here on VisaJourney.
Is the "filer" date the same thing as the priority date? My wife's priority date is on early January of this year, yet it is been in interview scheduling since February. My wife received her EAD (work permit) in March. Since then all we've done is update our address on file.
We are just past the six-month mark and our lawyer contacted USCIS and said we can't re-contact them until we get a response or thirty days without a response passes.
That response window would be in early September, so at that point if they just say "We're working on it," what is my best course of action? We're in Washington, DC, and since we're not a state here in the capital I know our political representation situation is a little different. Who would we contact in my wife's case? Thanks for all your help from AJ increasingly impatient January filer!
Hey there… fellow January filer here. The filing date is when you sent the i-483 Adjustment of Status forms and when they were received at USCIS. You can find that out by logging in to your USCIS account and checking your case status. That will also tell you where your paperwork is being processed. It might not necessarily be the closest one to you… I'm in NYC but my AOS file got sent to the National Benefits Center for processing.
Hang in there… you're not alone!

Just checked USCIS and my husbands green card is in production!!!! Yay! We filed in January (all 3 forms), received waiver in April (I believe) and card production status as of 8.25. Thanks be to God for this forum!!! Good luck to everyone else out there who is waiting!
Congratulations!!

Hi all,
This morning we got an update that out card is in production
woohoo!
Filed in Jan, received waiver letter towards the end of april, so took about 6.5months total and around 3 months from waiver letter. My timeline has been updated.
Good luck to all waiting!
Congratulations!!
Did your "Last updated" on the USCIS website change at all during this process? I keep monitoring that but it still says it was last updated in January.

Hi vbtwo, thanks for your reply and congratulations on getting your AOS completed!!
I didn't apply for AP because when I looked into it I thought it wasn't for regular visits, only for family emergencies and stuff like that. Am I wrong in thinking that?

Fellow January filer here… we got a letter back in May saying that we potentially qualified for an interview waiver but that the NBC was running behind schedule with approvals and that if we haven't heard anything in 6 months from that letter, only then should we contact them to follow up.
I was really hoping to travel back to the UK at the end of September, though.
Did anybody else here get that letter??

As I understand it, you should not go by when the visa expires. It is 90 days from the day your fiancé enters the country. My K1 visa expires a little after your fiancé's does, but I entered the country on October 20th, meaning I had until January 18th to get married.
We were also given our marriage certificate immediately, so it might not take 15 days.
Do it as soon as you can!

Ah yes, the thing I have has DS-3025 in the corner! So I just photocopy this sheet and mail it with my AOS? I don't have to see a civil surgeon? Or I still need to get a civil surge to sign it?
-
Hello! I am trying to get my head around the medical requirements for AOS. The checklist says this:
"I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. If you are a K-1, K-2, K-3 or K-4 visa holder the I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. Regardless of if you are exempt from a medical exam, you are still required to complete certain portions of the I-693 and have a Civil Surgeon certify the form (and seal it in an evelope). Specifically, you will complete Part 1 (Information about you) of the I-693 and provide both the form and your DS-3025 (if you have it, proving your vaccination history) and any proof of required vaccinations that were completed prior to entering the US. If you do not have a copy of your DS-3025 you will need to provide sufficient evidence of your vaccination history to the Civil Surgeon (talk to the civil surgeon's office to discuss what vaccination records they accept as proof). If you do not have proof of your vaccination history the Civil Surgeon may insist on re-administering all the required vaccinations prior to completing the I-693. Once the Civil Surgeon has has verified that all required vaccinations have been performed, they will complete form I-693 Part 2 (the vaccination section) and Part 5 (the Civil Surgeon's Certification). They will then seal the form in an envelope and return it to you."
I had my medical exam in London in August. So that means I don't need another exam, right? But I still need a civil surgeon to fill out the rest of the form?
I do not have DS-3025 like the above suggests, but I have the form the doctor gave me at my medical in London, as well as a printout of the immunisation record from my old GP in England.
Should I then include those documents (the vaccination record and the one from the visa doctor) in my packet for AOS?

Case creation on the 7th, status updated on the 9th.
I saw that DX says one working day, so it shouuuuld be tomorrow, right? :-/
-
Hi everyone, and congratulations to the other recent K1 approvals!
I arranged to collect my visa from a collection point in London, and on Friday I got an email from the DoS saying that:
"The U.S. Department of State Consulate located in London has released document related to your Visa application for delivery by our courier."
So I figured that meant it was on its way to the collection point. But when I logged into the DX website to check my status it says the package is "booked for collection from collection point".
So does that mean my collection is booked and it's ready for me to collect it?
Or just that it's still on it's way?

Yes he will definitely bring his passport, and his work visa which allows him to be in the country right now.
We're planning to get there about 7am, and I'll ask at the door if they can add my partner to the access list.
Fingers crossed!
-
Thanks Queen!
What time would you recommend we arrive there if my appointment time was 8:30?
-
Hello everyone!
I have my fiancee visa interview on Monday at 8:30, and my American partner is over here with me and if possible I'd really like for him to come to the interview as well.
But we're both travelling with work right now and I think I messed up by not contacting the embassy sooner to get his name added to the interview. To be honest, I completely lost track of what day it was (we play in a band that's on tour, and it's really easy to not realise what day it is on tour!) and I didn't properly realise until last night that it's too late to call the embassy now.
Is there ANYTHING I can do? If we turn up together at the embassy on Monday, can I just request that he comes in with me, or does it have to be in advance?
Should I try calling the call centre on Monday morning? The website says they open at 7am, so there might be a little time before my appointment at 8:30.
I'd really appreciate ANY advice :-/
-
GOOD LUCK, QUEENOFBLADES!!!
Can't wait to hear all about it!! -
Thanks all... they do have my DS-2001, and my online status says ready for interview, but I haven't received notice yet of the day they've scheduled for me.
I'll try the contact form! I guess the worst they can say is no!
-
Is it more favourable if my partner comes to the interview with me? I would like him to if possible. We'll be together in London on September 30th, so maybe if I call, I will be allowed to schedule my interview for that day?
I'm looking around to find the number to call but I don't really know which department to contact about this. Not sure if I call London or DOS or NVC or someone else. But I've also read on here about a contact form that can be used to do this, but I can't find it now.
Any tips would be really appreciated!!
-
GOOD LUCK!!
My partner is going to be here soon and we'll be in London on September 30th, do you think if I call I can get the interview booked for that day? Can anyone link me to the contact form or phone number where I can get in touch with the department that does interviews? I can't find it on the website...

I didn't know they actually paid attention to what we say as our wedding date! Our 'actual' wedding isn't until December, but I thought, given the timeline, that I'd end up getting my visa around September, so I planned to go over there as soon as possible and have the 'legal' marriage as quickly as we can.
I'm worried now!
Landon Ricketts, maybe wait another week or so (because I've read on here that it can be about 6 weeks before you hear about your interview date) and then think it's worth contacting them to ask what's going on.
Advice please! Need to travel abroad but no ROC yet.

Thanks everyone! I logged on at midnight and an appointment was available for March 10th, phew! Excellent tip, VeraBradley!
Hopefully if I explain that I need proof of my residency here in order to apply for my Australian work visa, they'll be able to give me the passport stamp even though I'm a few months away from my extension expiring. Fingers crossed
Thanks again!
