And here I was going to say one month and a half of the so called "6 month waiting period" has come and gone, and to realize that it probably won't be six but more months pff. ?
Congrats to those that finally got the gc ?

Sorry, on the last sentence I meant to say married name.
Yes, you will do check in, and the form they give you use your married name, just bring your marriage license because your husband's name is in there, which is the one you intend to use, they will just use it as proof of name. I went twice, I made the mistake of not filling EAD at the same time, so I had to go twice. The first time I didn't bring the certificate so they use my maiden name as I didn't have proof, with a note with my married name. The second time I was prepared, I filled it with my married name, and no problem as long as you have your marriage certificate with you.
Today I went to change my social security card, and just brought my new EAD (married name) and my marriage certicate (has my maiden name but also my husband's name) and no problem, as long as the last name that you want to have is on that certicate even if is only on husband's section is ok.
And like I said, you really want to fill everything with your new last name, that way every single document that the U.S. government gives you will be up to date, and for free.
-
Not really, my marriage certificate has my maiden name and not my married one, yet I filled all my paperwork with my married name and use maiden name on "other names" in all of the forms.
My EAD came with my married name, as well as all the letters they have sent me. just when you go to the biometrics app take your marriage certificate with you, because they don't have your file, they only take your fingerprints and need proof of your name.
So just fill with your maiden name, that way every single document you get from the government will be the same and no need to change it later. Corrections cost money.

You don't really need a SSN to fill the forms for adjustment, they have it there just in case you already have one. After filling and if you fill for EAD, you can go to the office again and get a ssn
-
That beyond frustrating, you go to the doctors they say on their website, you pay and expect a job well done, and when is not you pay the consequences.
Did you get a copy of your vaccine form? When I went the lady gave met the sealed envelope and a folder with all the forms for my record.
I also think getting an info pass appointment it's the first step
-
I received my approval two Thursdays ago, and still nothing, that same day I checked my online status and it was still the same since the beggining, it changed to "your EAD has been approved" last Tuesday. Last Thursday I checked my status again and it said; "your card has been mailed" so I'm expecting it tomorrow or the next day after tomorrow, so around 10 work days.

When you go to the interview in your embassy, you need to bring your turist visa, they will ask for it and in exchange they will give you the fiance visa in your passport.

Thank you, the awesome part is I am finally allowed to work, and officially change my name. Now to wait for this waiver interruption to speed up.

I have a question, my husband and I got married on jan 19 last year, unforeseen circumstances didn't let us apply right away, so we applied on March, I got my work permit and last Saturday I got the waiver interview letter, it says to wait, six months from now will be December, my question is; if they actually do wait till december- January to touch my case again, send me a RFE for the expired medical( because reading waiver cases they do), getting the new info and finally approved my case after jan 19(second anniversary). Will I get a conditional or a permanent gc?
I honestly was rooting for an interview because we have nothing to hide, we were together for 3 years before getting married, one year together when I was in NC as a j1 visa holder, but it didn't happen, so now I'm trying to see the silver lining of this waiver, but I read that if you are a k1 you will still get a conditional gc.
What do you think?
-
I applied on March and only the AOS package. I decided to file for EAD on April and I had t o get fingerprinted again, freaking annoying because instead of getting the 10 fingers again the only needed one ONE, a 4 hr drive to be there for 10 minutes, both my husband and I were pissed. I mean come on, I just got fingerprinted the month prior to that.
-
I say do it, I'm a march filler and I didnt file it, and ended up filling it on April, just because I realized the AOS was going to take too long. In some states the EAD Is the only official way to get a drivers license, if you do not file for it, and you case gets waived just like mine (I got my interview waiver letter last Saturday), that means you still can't work, drive and plenty other stuff, it's FREE so just file it. I'm actually filling the advance parole this week, just because I got waived and j really want to visit my family
Oh, I forgot to say that if you don't file it and decide to do it later, like I did, you will have to get fingerprinted again, in my case is a 4 hour long drive so yeah, just do it

Our timeline is similarCount me in. K1 VISA- Residing in Florida.
I received my interview waiver case today.
My timeline:
March 16: AOS/EAD/AP package sent
march 24: noa 1
April 16: biometrics
June 12: ead/ap approved
June 22: notice of interview waiver case received
03/06 sent AOS PACKAGE
03/23 NOA1 RECEIVED
04/10 BIOMETRICS IN NOLA
06/27 WAIVER LETTER
Hopefully it won't take 6 months as my medical exam was taken on October and I don't want to pay more
-
My online status is still on the "we received a fee for fingerprinting...." , but today in The mailbox my waiver letter awaited YAY?. Yes, I'm happy to be with my husband but I would prefer traveling home with a gc than with an advance parole. Anyway on Monday im filling the parole
-
Yay! Congrats, awesome news for March fillers, give us hope
-
Yes, hopefully. The only difference from the nerve wrecking waiting for k1 is at least I'm with my hubby, so that makes it a little bit easier.
-
Mine hasn't changed either since March 19, I had my biometrics done on April 10, I have this feeling I will be on the waiver situation, and I though I wanted it, but honestly I just want this over, so I can relax and worry again in 2 years for the removal.
Now, if you ask why I wanted the waiver so my case can be on hold for a year or so, well, I didn't fill as soon as we got married, we filled after our first anniversary, so in my mind if there are cases from June 2014 that are finally being resolved after being on the waiver, I could probably have the gc after our second anniversary meaning no conditions, but like I said I'm done with the waiting.
I remember being so frustrated waiting for the k1 status to move, and here we are again.
So I will continue praying that this part of the process is done.
Good luck to everybody

For drivers license, the requirements change from state to state, here in Florida as soon as I get the work permit (EAD) I can apply for a license. It will last as long as the permit, which is one year, same permit can be renew 120 days before it's expiration for free if your green card hasn't been approved yet.
Did you only file for AOS or also AP & EAD?
Also if her SSN is with her maiden name, you can take the EAD as a proof of legal status and change her name.
The EAD As well as AP take at the most 90 days to be produced
-
No, you don't, actually you can't your visa is a one-time only that means you only will have that I-94. What you have to do is marry before the 90 days are over, and start your AOS (green card) process.
Even if your I-94 expires you are still able to adjust status, now I wouldn't wait for a long time because you can't do a lot of stuff like drivers license, work, peace of mind, etc, beside AOS are taking a really long time, so better start now.
About the doctors, I don't know about the ones that don't rip you off but you need to make sure that they are recognize by USCIS, On that link you can see the ones near you.

I waited for about a year too, so far they haven't said anything, the only real problem about waiting is the fact that you aren't able to do a lot of things such as; getting a drivers license, changing your name in SS, joint accounts, leave the country, and work.
-
Thanks. I will just do that, I hope I don't get one as I've already had the biometrics taken, and I sent a copy of that notice with the stamped from ASC
-
Today I mailed my I-765, I sent a cover letter and the following documents; e-notification, I-765, I-797 NOA receipt of payment, I-797 NOA biometrics interview stamped at ASC. Now I did not sent the passport photos, I thought they already have them from when I sent my I-485, but I just read that you need to send new ones, as well, as my passport's bio page, my question is:
Should I just send those 2 missing papers ( copy of passport and photos) with a cover letter explaining my omission or should I send the entire package again?
Part of me doesn't want to send the entire thing because I thing they will get confuse with duplicates and the other part thinks they will not pay attention to a package of just photos and a copy, as it would not include an official form.
What do you think?
-
Thank you so much I'm doing in it next Monday.
-
I am starting to realize that I made a mistake by not filling this with my AOS package. I didn't file for this nor the advance parole, the advance parole Because I'm not in a hurry to travel back home, and the employment because I didn't notice that the process is being so freaking slow.
So can I file this and sent it without paying? for what I gather I can still send it as long as I sent a copy of the receipt of my AOS and fingerprint fee.

quick question my husband is my sponsor so he should check that square but my cousin is helping us as my husband is short on the poverty line, so my cousin should check : I am the only joint sponsor, is that correct?
I think they make things way more complicated that they should be, Im having a headache after reading the travel document, non sense :s

Omg just like you guys, my birthday was on sep 7th, and I got the waiver early June, I had the email notification service, but I never got an update, so last Saturday I opened the mailbox and I had a priority envelope and I said weird, then the normal USCIS envelope and I said , because what else could it be, and I was right I got an excellent birthday present by the government, I'm finally a resident, so got those with a waiver it may be way less than the 6 months they said.
