  1. I had my interview 11/14/2013, I was recommended for approval.

I checked my case online and it states that my application was placed in the oath que on November 25 2013.

Should I call the service center? I have not got a letter yet.

I live in an apartment with numerous mailboxes, I worry that the letter might of got in the wrong mailbox or something

  2. Last week I was sched. for my interview ( I got the notification in the mail).

Today I get a notice in the mail stating "this is not an interview notice Prior to forwarding your case for interview, USCIS has performed a complete review of your file and Application for Naturalization. As a result of that review, we have identified additional documentation may be needed. We recommend that you bring your document listed below to your nat. Interview.

-They want me to bring my state issued drivers licence or photo ID.

    What the heck is this?!?

Duh, they already asked for that in the interview letter.

Maybe because when I submitted my N400 I did not make a copy in the package of my drivers licence??

  3. Hi Guys

I have my interview coming up here shortly, I need to know if I will need to bring my previous fax returns with me?

The reason I am asking I got divorced and my POS ex husband did not give me any copies of the returns from the years we filed.

I tried to get the transcripts online but it won't work and the government is shutdown so I am unable to call the IRS.

How important is it to have all my tax returns?

I do have the last one due to filing on my own but that's it.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. I know a question on here as been already asked in reg. to the goverment shutdown and citizenship.

I already read that the actual process won't have affect.

However I am sched. for my Biometrics tomorrow.

It is a total of a 4 hour drive to get them done.

I tried to call the 1800 USICS number but they won't pick up.

How do I find out if the Biometrics office is closed??

This is just a plain pain in the rear. Argh!

On another note how long did it take you guys on average after the Biometrics to get the Interview??

    Thank you in advance!!!

  5. I think I might add it on the N400, I was charged and it was defective equipment".

If I do list it I am submitting a copy of proof of payment etc.

I just want them to know I am of good moral character.

On the N400 Part 10 I checked yes on number 15 and 17 although I was not charged I guess it was still a crime.

I am so worried of getting denied when they see I checked number 15 and 17.

    What do you think????

  6. Ok thanks guys!!!!

This already helps me out a ton.

Well I am kind of stuck, here I copied and pasted of what I previously posted in reg. to my speeding ticket:

" Ok so I am getting ready to submit my N400, I printed off the 50- some paige guide.

In there it states that if a traffic fine was above 500 Dollars, you have to claim it.

I was speading, going 25 over the speed limit. No alcohol or drugs invloved of course.

I was going to work and was late LOL!

This was my first offence and I was "so much over the speed limit" that I had to show in court.

I ended up hiring an attorney because the case was just plain stupid to go to court.

The attorney got me out of it and it was dimissed as "defective equiment", no point on licence etc.

I called the lawyer that did this for me and it was classed as a "non moving violation".

Is this something I should claim on my N500/ at the point of my interview?

I am stuck, I don't want them to not grant me citzenship because of this ticket and I don't want them to think I am lying either.

The fine was a total of 300 Dollars."

Now my question is list it? I was planning on submitting copies as I want to be of good moral character.

If so what box on the N400 do I check? Cos I was not arrested I guess it was just an offence

  7. I am getting ready to submit my paperwork N400 tomorrow.

Here a few questions to make sure I am doing everything correctly:

Some people told me not to send the N400 together with the money order.

Is it ok to still do this? I am mailing it all certified.

When it comes to the questions travel outside of the US.

I can not remember all the full dates I LEFT.

The passports tell me the date of entry.

I only know a kind of estimate, it was always around 2-3 weeks a year.

    Is that ok??

Then I had a speeding ticket, people here (see my previous post) told me I should claim it.

Which I did, I wrote in there that it was classed as defective equipment, no drugs alcohol etc involved was not arrested.

Did however get a lawyer to drop this for me (didn't want points on my licence as I was going like 25 above the speed limit).

    Which box do I check?

The one that says "Have you ever commited a crime or offence and were not arrested"??

Part 13: I leave that blank I guess because that is what I sign at the point of interview?

    Thank you so much everyone!!!

  8. Ok thanks that makes me feel better, so you don't think that when I report it that it will cause problems with my citzenship?

I know not telling them about it would.

It's just that if not needed I don't really want to give that info, makes me feel like a criminal for speeding.

I ended up paying a total of 300 for the court fees and 500 for the lawyer.

The cop was not the nicest guy ot there, something must of crawled up his rear lol!

  9. Ok so I am getting ready to submit my N400, I printed off the 50- some paige guide.

  10. I am getting ready to apply for my US citizenship.

My friend who also got her US citizenship was allowed to keep her German citizenship.

    Now my question:

By birth I am British and German (both country's allow me to keep my citizenship if I get the American.

I printed off the 58 page guide to the citizenship.

Now my question, in the book it states:

    Responsibility:

-Give up all prior allegiance to any other nation or sovereignty.

Does this mean I have to give up my other citizenships??

    Thanks in advance/

  11. Hi everyone.

I moved here from Germany in 2007 and came here on a K1 visa. I went through all the correct process and have had the 10 year GC since 2010.

So I have had my Greencard 5 1/2 years now altogether.

I was married almost 5 years but last year it ended in a divorce :(

I never left the country other than vacation home for around 2 weeks a couple of times each year.

No criminal history just one speeding ticket and a divorce which are both not "criminal".

Now I would like to know what my chances are applying and being divorced?

I want my ex husband to no longer be my sponsor on all this. (The sponsorship does not end in a divorce).

What are the chances of being denied?

What happens if your denied? You have to leave the country?

    Thanks!!!

  12. So my ex and I got divorced, I have had my 10 year green card over 5 years now so if I understand correctly I am now able to apply for the citizenship.

I am wanting to go on vacation in July and would like to start the process as soon as possible,

How fast would I get an appointment for the Biometrics? What if that letter comes while I have my vacation planned?

Can I move it to another date?

Also- My divorce will be final right around next week.

I would like to restore my old name, what kind of changes do I have to do with the USCIS?

Does that mean if I restore my old (maiden name) that I need to get a new greencard, or is there a simple name change I can do online?

Thank you everyone in advance, I used to be active in this forum during my K1, many moons ago but I forgot my login/ name.
