I gotta say, it was exciting watching the news about previous US presidential elections when living abroad, but actually living it now while being in the country... it's killing me I'm laughing so bad at it all... pure entertainment indeed.... they couldn't make stuff like that up if they wanted to.

I tell you though, after this, I can't wait till I get my righ to vote!

it's been a long time coming and man, am I ready!

In December it will have been 3 years since my son and I came here to live.

It's been an up & down journey, to say the least... not quite a movie fairytale, but I did get my beautiful princess daughter Gabriella and wouldn't trade those moments for the world!

Having her however made me even more hungry to go back to the place I once called "home".

Now finally, after lots of begging and pleading and finally getting my ten year greencard and just taking charge of the whole situation, in February we are going to Belgium.

My Mom is overjoyed, to say the least! My family I'm sure excited, and I simply can't wait... even though some part of me is scared that this trip I've been longing for since what seems like forever might just end up being a bust... but heck, for now, I'll just enjoy the fact that Belgium, watch out, here I come!

just to clarify, Jesus was no fluke, and I don't think you can compare God's only son to a fish, or a mamal, we're talking about the One being who gave His Life for all our sins.... not some fish swimming the oceans!

my heart goes out to the grandmother, because if something happened to her child, then its a double tragedy, because not only the suffering and grief of a child, but now also a grandchild, and if it was a case of an abusive mother or father the child got taken away from and grandma got a second chance at trying to get this "raising a child", then again, double tragedy, double the grief...

as for an 8 yr old not knowing how to do these things, look around you, look at the news, TV, etc...

between CSI, forensic files, xfiles type shows, not much left for a child... and if not that, then yet another child got abducted somewhere or ran away, this no longer is a beautiful scene from times past, we dont play out till dinnertime without or parents checking in on us till then... our children play out in the backyard or at a friends nearby, carries a cellphone so he/she can check in, and we spend our days worrying about who and what might be out there, ready to harm them....

For one, kinda glad I'm in Nebraska!

i had the same thing, kept checking my hotmail account and nothing, then went onto the USCIS to find out my card production was ordered... no approval notice yet though, but I'm assuming if I'm getting the card, I must be getting the approval... plus already ate the cake that says so!

that's kinda cool SnowXTC... mine can be updated too now I think it was 146 but might be wrong, thanks for the list though!

I know it sucks to still be waiting.... and I totally know what you feel, everytime I saw someone being approved before me that sent after me it was like grrrrrrrrrrr

Went online this morning and nothing, nada, so this afternoon I decided to try my luck and call the Service Center, see if perhaps they had anything different.... (you never know!).

Anyhow, I log online to go fetch my WAC receipt # and see the date got updated to 9/30/2008... when I click it said "card production ordered".

I am feeling gooooooood!!!!

Well, I was about to start a topic like this one, cause man I forgot how frustrating it is to find yourself logging on to uscis and doing everything without a minute's hesitation only to be staring at the same darn date for the gazillionth time.... arghhhhhhhh!!! LOL

I've applied to have my conditions removed 05/03/08, my bio done on 05/27 and guess what date it says on uscis....you got it! 05/27/2008.......not a freakin touch yet!!!!!

I'm so hpoing something will happen soon cos I need the re-assurance like all of us, right?

And me too am worried I got misfiled or dropped behind someone's desk, but when you call they tell you nothing other than the posted guidelines, which now is 02/01/2008.....oh well

oh yes.... I get the cooking and then I get the constant.. Belgian buns, do those taste the same in Belgium, and I'm like erm.... never seen those before today!

Had the French toast story too...

I actually lived in England quite some time with my first husband and so got accumstomed to many things there and my accent is more a British than Belgian so many ppl ask me about tea and scones and dumplings, etc.

I also like telling peeps that in England my hubby used to cook great French toast, except there they call it "eggy bread" or at least he did... many of my friends here agreee its a better name!

Oh and the French and their BBQ's...yum.... oh boy, I'd love a merguez from the outdoor grill right now! Or a brochette..... good times!

my son arrived with me on the same date and everything was filed on same days, our cards have actual slightly diff dates as he seems to get approval for everything quicker, that's just plain stupid. I know it might sound strange, but have you tried sending both seperate?

Might be worth a try, all seperate checks and seperate envelopes, and just maybe references each other's casenumber in the file?

We have a bakery called "Le Quartier" here... and they have some darn good stuff, pretty close to the real thing I must add, and sad thing is, they charge you for it.

Oh well, worth it though, plus I never get over the giggles of my husband trying to pronounce the name!

We have a Panera here too, was actually talking about it at work, might have to try it.

I'm a sucker for going on at work about missing stuff and someone told me to go to the Outbank (not sure if it's a chain too) and have their French onion soup. I told my friend it's nothing like my Mom used to make it.... mmmmm.... we used to toast baguettes and croutons and add them on top then put a ton of gruyere on it and put the bowl in the oven for just enough time for the cheese to get melty-crunchy... oh yum!!

Calorie fest but sooooo worth it.

I'm going to have to try the home made pain au chocolat though my oven sorta sucks, at least for choc chip cookies it does....

My hubby and I have the same thing... we both carry life insurances, but beneficiaries are the kids, and no prob, all was cool with the forms, I even used them with my AOS and during the interview for that, the main part was that my hubby was willing to carry my health insurance and life insurance and pay for it through his work, it clearly showed intertwined finances, which is what they are looking for... proof of real life!

I just think it was an FYI kinda thing.... we are supposed to carry it with us all the time, just like our State ID's or driving licenses, but let's face it, we all leave our wallets home from time to time and I think that's why you were allowed to have youre prints done today.

I'm sure they can see in the system you have one and you are there removing conditions.

I know it's easier said than done in cases like these but I wouldn't worry too much about this.

If there had been a real prob, they would've probably turned you down today and sent you home to reschedule your biometrics, but they didnt!

And they can verify your current prints against those taken for your AOS!

So I think you're cool!

I hope you can visit your family soon (or they can visit you). You should try to plan a trip to Belgium and fill you up with all the things and people you are missing. And then, who knows, you may miss American things too

I had forgotten about the pain au chocolat and croissants.... and yes, just walking down the market square for roasted chicken, oh I can smell it just thinking of it....

And my Dad was French and we spent most family vacations there... So I'm missing many of those things too!

He was born in Tourcoing, northern part right by Halluin and where I grew up... Menin.

And I don't get to drive everywhere, haven't gotten my license... as for going back, with a family of 4 it'll be about $4000 just for the tickets, since I am in Lincoln, NE, not exactely a popular destination, so prices are higher and we are just laborers living in a modern world, from paycheck to paycheck, so not much travelling for me.... ever!

ok ok... far away from home, havent been back in nearly 3 years... (it's slowly killing me!)

Most my family hasn't met my now 14 month old daughter yet... and I miss hearing Flemish all around me, I must admit...

I'd so go for a big stack of nice greasy French fries... (which really ought to be called BELGIAN fries), and yes covered with a huge dollup of mayo... or maybe even cocktail sauce....

And then there's the bicky burgers or frikandel...

Not to mention lots of chocolate... and a Kriek somewhere at the market square...

Did I also mention a stroll along the beach followed by a peppersteak or some Mussels with white wine sauce and a good bottle.

Yes... I'm homesick....

I want a big hug from my Mom followed by one of her gorgeous homecooked meals.

I want to gather with my family, have an aperitief (preferably Pisang!), with lots of salami and paprika chips....

I want to get together with my highschool friends (whom I recently found on Facebook) and have a nice girlie night out and get wasted and laugh about old times... I want ... I want...

i wonder if any of you can help since this is about Nebraska cases transfered to California...

my husband and i mailed our I-751 package to the Nebraska Service Center last week...not knowing it is now the California Service Center that's processing them for our state. (i just saw the post here yesterday about the change...and the darned USCIS website still says Nebraska!!)

i'm really frustrated because according to USPS tracking, our package has gone from here to Nebraska, then to California and is now back in Nebraska again!! how could that happen? it doesn't make any sense to me that it's gone back to Nebraska when California are the ones doing the processing.

does anyone have any insight? and can someone give me instructions for how to get a live human being on the USCIS phone line?

I have to say the only way I speak to a human being is by choosing options - case pending, change of address on case.... then have all your info (Alien #) ready and you should be ok from there.

Sometimes they're helpful, other times, not so much!

And also watch your checks (if that's how you sent in your payment).

I looked them up online through my banking and when seeing the scan of my check, the back of them had been stamped for deposit by the CSC.

Hehe yes, douglassheridan, if you're in Michigan I bet my husband and you were at the same biometrics office.

I do notice that most of the recent approvals are for CSC-based people, not (originally) NSC people --- I hope they are not putting transfers at a lower priority I'm happy for people who are getting their cards so quickly but it's also depressing to see someone get theirs when they applied 3 months after you did.

Oh well, here's to hoping it comes soon!

no kidding totally know what you mean, I kind of out it to the back of my mind there for a couple of months and now I see all the approvals I'm like I was for my fiancee visa, I'm on here every day checking who gets approved.

My stuff hasn't been touched since my bio.

Oh and I was there with my kiddies and hubby at 8 or so am, outta there in no time... was going to go shopping in Omaha afterwards but we were done too quickly so hubby decided to go home ((

Must also say that while I am happy ppl are getting approved it also kinda sucks when you submitted before them... but hey, who said our visa journeys are based on logical thinking!
