  1. From what ive seen on this forum both ur brother and his wife will need to fill out I-864 (one each i think) becos they filed 1040 together. You will also need to fill out an I 864 because you are the petitioner, doesnt matter if you are employed or not. Anyone, pls call me out on any of this if I'm wrong.

    Good luck !

So the I-864A does not come in at all in this case correct?

I am aware I have to fill out i864 which I did but now that I am having a joint sponsor do I need to take an updated or new 864 to the embassy or the old one is going to be sufficient?

If both of them are filling out 864 then my brothers wife will be a second joint sponsor or what? Please note I am not using her income. My brothers income alone is enough! Please..

I am interested in filling out the forms right too as this has caused me so many nightmares so pls pardon me

    Thank you

  2. Hello Good people!

I have been at the NVC for about 11 months and has finally gotten an interview in a weeks time.

(This is all due to AOS complications so I do not want to make mistakes anymore)

I know very well I have asked a question of this sort but this is more detailed and like a step to the first question I asked.

My husband is the beneficiary and when we submitted his AOS I was the petitioner and sponsor. A month after that I lost my job and at the end of the year, my income wasn't enough and didn't meet to support and sponsor him.

My brother who is married with a kid, has agreed to be our sponsor and he files a joint tax return with his wife. He makes enough alone to sponsor my husband and we are going to use just his income even though he files a joint return with his wife. Now how do we go about this, is it possible to just use his income or does his wife's income have to be added since they filed together. Can anybody give me a link as to how he my brother will fill out his 864 for my husband? If his wife will have to be added too, how do we go about it- can I have a link for that option too please.

Now about me I am in school now and unemployed so my income and other things have changed since I filed the 864 for hubby. Do I also have to fill out a new and updated affidavit of support form for him to take ? Can I just do a change in sponsor at this last minute?

    Thank you

I know very well I have to be on the April interview thread but I wanted to post on both threads to see how fast I can get some help as I have only one week.

  4. You should not file "single" if you are married. You should file MFS or MFJ or if you qualify for HOH, then that would be an option but never single. You could have and are still able to apply for an ITIN for your Hubby. When is your interview? Maybe you can apply for ITIN and do an amendment prior to your interview.

    Hellllo

Thank you for responding. My interview is is on April 7th please.

Also I am all the way in Africa now waiting to get this over and done with.

Please advice. So will this cost me at the interview?

  5. Hello Good people please help me.

My tax preparer filed my taxes single while am am married.

He is insisting there is no way I can file with my hubby because he did not live in the USA and did not work there, he also doesn't have a ssn and itn number so I cannot file with him.

  6. Congratulations. Welcome to the group. I have added you to the spreadsheet.

Yes you have to file you taxes your 2014 taxes regardless that you have a joint sponsor.

For your joint sponsor he also has to have:

    • His 2014, 2013, 2012 filed
    • letter of employment
    • most current pay stub
    • I-864
    • Proof of citizenship or LPR or naturalization.

    All originals at the interview.

Thank you so much dwheels for replying.

Yes I am very aware of my joint sponsor.

Will not only 2014 tax return be enough?

I can get the previous years from him but I dunno how long it will tak for him to produce that.

Also how do I go about my taxes please. What form so I fill out since I worked as an independent contractor ?

Do you know what forms I fill out to file my taxes please?

    Any help will be appreciated

  7. Hello guys

First am happy I finally got here too. I received my cc on feb 19th and last week I received my interview letter for April 7th, Ghana consulate. I have a question for my interview I don't know if anyone can help me here but all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. First of all my hubby is the one migrating.

    So here it goes..

At the time I was filling out the I-864 for my hubby I was working a private duty job as a caregiver. I was been paid weekly with no taxes deducted but given a paper stating how many hours I worked the week and my weekly pay. I started this job march ending and took a break from it June, July to visit my husband in Ghana. I came back to the states in August to continue this same job and by the first week of September the patient I was taking care of died.

Anyway so all in all I worked about $10,000. I therefore used my income as financial support for my hubby on the I-864 and to back it up I added the pay stub like stuff I was receiving from this family and since after calculating my yearly pay based on what am being paid weekly, I qualified to sponsor my husband. I then added the pay stub like stuff to the 864 (about 12 weeks work) and to my surprise nvc accepted it. I also added my previous tax returns, 2 years which I had no problem proving anything because I had taxes taken out and could prove.. I also qualified all the previous years to sponsor my husband by the way. Anyway so back to my question, about the first week of September this patient passes away and I decide to go stay with my hubby in Ghana till this long process is done. Now obviously I didn't make as much as I thought I would have as I stated on the 864 but thank God my brother has decided to sponsor us and he meets all the requirements so I will be taking a filled out 864 from him with me to the interview as our sponsor now since I lost my job. Is that possible? Also will I also be asked for a tax return for 2014? If so how do I go about it? I know am certainly going to owe the it's since my job was under the table but I am ready to pay and accept. I have been a worker all my life couldn't get a job and this was the only way I could work to support me Nd my hubby and I took that job. I am in no way and will not hide that to avoid paying taxes.

Please anyone advice me on how I should go about this if I am going to be asked for a tax return, and which form do I file supposing I am filing a tax return. Also I am left to this minute because I couldn't get my pin from the IRS and they wouldn't give it to me over the phone. Anyway that was just by the way. Help me please anyone.

    Sorry ifor the long question

  9. I have been studying this forum for a while now but never posted a thing.

Just wanted to say I saw 3n/a today and called for them to tell me it's a case complete. Yay!

I have not received an email yet.

Do you guys know how long it takes to receive an email

And also how long interview is scheduled?

Thank you all for a wonderful journey.

I have been at the nvc since may..

2 checklists and I feel am almost there..

PS: my aos checklist scan date is 12/17

  10. Hello

    Can somebody help me pleaseeee!

I have seen this question asked so many times the past two days but not answered.

I am still waiting for n answer and decided to send the question again.

I am waiting for a case complete and realized I made a mistake on my AOS i864 form

I got the household size correct, 2 but part 5 of 8 where it asks to add lines 1 to 7 to enter the household size, I put 0. (Even though in checked I am sponsoring the principal immigrant in part 2)

So after ticking 1 for myself and 1 if married and putting 0 in enter the number you entered on line 7 of part 3, i still got a household size of 2. I am very sure I will get a checklist and I am wondering please if anyone can assist me.

Should I send all documents together with updated i864 or just an updated i864?

Is it better to send it now or wait for a checklist n assume since I got the household size right it shouldn't be a problem?

    Also part 6 question 13

I did not check it because I included my three most recent tax returns and not just the recent. (Is that right)?

This process is so draining I have had 2 miscarriages already and now I can't travel to even see my husband just because of the fear of banning flights from west Africa. Even though where I come from there is no Ebola (Ivory Coast).

Someone please help me pls.. Thank you!

  11. Hello guys. I just got my case number and IIN number today.

I have been going thru the thread And I am seeing this thing about N/A regarding

Place of resident etc. can somebody explain this to me as I don't want to receive any checklist please.

Which form are we talking about just the I-864 or any other form if any question isn't applicable to me or the hubby, I should put N/A instead of leaving blank?

Thank you all, congratulations and goodluck coming our way. In the lords name Amen!!
