I went for my GC interview yesterday and I was approved! I received my combo card a couple of weeks ago. Everything's good now. Good luck to everyone else!

There are differences between adjusting from K-1, K-2, and K-3 (Adjust of Status from Family Based Visas) and adjusting from Work, Student, and Tourist Visas. Most of times adjusting from Work, Student, and Tourist Visas are faster compared to K-1, K-2, and K-3. That's why I always suggested people to post on proper forum so others can get correct information.
FYI, there are a lot people here adjusting from K-1 visas are still waiting their green cards even though they filed last year. Anyhow, congrats for approval and received the green card.
I think this could also be a case to case basis as I already have my AOS interview appointment set on September 9. USCIS received my AOS, EAD and AP application on June 16. However, my EAD and AP is still in initial review.
I should update my timeline.

Thanks a lot N&P for your response. No apologies needed.
Supporting documents for I-864 is my husband's income tax paper work rite? Apart from this, anything else he need to submit along with his I-864?
I hope my husband still keep that I-767, I am a little worried that he may not even remember what is that. Will check when he is back from business trip.
As for I-765,can you advise whether I am eligible to apply? coz for the EAD..it says I am supposed to file within 90days for K1 and I am past 90days already.
As for I-131..it requires proof of Travelling date such air ticket and etc. I wanna do this because just in case my family emergencies.
thks
i-864 supporting docs is the tax return. you are correct. That is the only thing that they required for that.
as for EAD and AP, just apply for them together. I dont see the part where it asks for the proof of travelling date? maybe you can check again?
I hope it will go well for you. I know that the forms are a pain in the ###.
Good Luck!

1. G-325a
2. I-864
3. I-485
4. I-765 (optional)
5. I-131 (optional)
- my passport biographical page as well as entry stamps
- I-94
- Birth cert with English translation
- copy of certified marriage certificate
- passport photo
--> you should also include a copy of your K1 visa and remember to also include supporting document for affidavit of support (i-864), a copy of your vaccination card (just in case USCIS dont have it),
2) I don recall that I have this? --> K-1 Visa Holders: Submit Copy of NOA2 "Approval" for I-129F **
I thought this is with given to the embassy in Malaysia when we were doing our k1 visa application back then?
--> It is the hard copy of I-797, notice of action. They sent it to the petitioner upon approval of the i-129f petition. You were not required to give that approval to the notice at the embassy. I hope you will find it.
3) did any of you fill the I-765 and I-131?
--> I filled in both forms as I would like the freedom of going out of the country any time I want before my AOS is completed and I am also very bored here so I must go out and get a job as soon as possible!!
hope to hear from your advise
I hope that helps and sorry for the late reply. Not on the internet much these days.

Hi Vansjed. That means it is ready for collection and you can collect it at any KLN office near you with rm20 fee. Mine took 2 months to be ready, maybe they are now starting to really do their job so everything is processed faster. Good luck!
-
I think it depends on your POE. For me, everything was less than 30 minutes.

thank much , i did found out i only need to send the ds-230 pt 1 to schedule an interview i will send the filled out form. i just wonder how long after will i be able get and interview date because our petition expire march 6
Don't worry about renewing.. it will automatically renewed if the embassy has not set your interview date yet and you can check your country's portal to see the estimate days from the embassy receiving the P3 reply and the interview date. Good Luck!

I know this has doubtless been addressed 400 times throughout the history of these forums, but I have to ask again to silence at least some of my anxiety regarding this process.
At any time throughout this process will my foreign fiance be asked to submit a copy of his birth certificate?
When we had it translated into English the translator spelled my fiance's father's name wrong and in my perpetual anxiety I am worried they'll somehow know and give us an RFE.
They will need the beneficiary's birth certificate during the interview.

hey everybody, i just need to know a few things. i got package 3 yesterday and was told to submit the ds-230 pt 1 so that they can schedule an interview date, do i have to send anything else with the ds-230 pt 1 a little help please please
Don't you get a checklist in your P3? From what I remembered, the Malaysian embassy required me to send the completed ds-230 form, the completed checklist, and completed applicant statement that comes with packet 3. I'm not sure how it works there, but you can go to your country's portal to ask them about it. good luck!

Thank you all so much for the replies. Appreciate it. We were thinking of hiring someone to prepare it for us but thought better of it. I hope everything goes well.
Good luck in your journey!!

They only want to know about "meeting in person in the last 2 years". Just provide them with the answer, along with some supporting documents (passport stamps, tickets, itineraries, pictures)
-
Mine is like that too. I can get a clear peek inside.

List of food you can bring
I personally is not too worried about clothing. Remember all your important documents

No big proposal for me too.. we discussed it over Skype The IO only asked when did he proposed and I answered the month and year.
-
No, you cannot. When you register under the Syariah law in Malaysia, it is considered a legal marriage. Since you have already filed for K1, you can either proceed with it and get married in USA or withdraw your current petition, get married and then file for CR1 or K3.

Salim just had his interview. He waited all day and he was one of the last ones. He is APPROVED!!!! I can't believe it! Thank you all for the love and support. Inchallah we will all be approved soon.
Congratulations and good luck on your next journey together!

They will return all the important original documents to you during the interview.

Hi there!
I think transitioning will be hard for everyone. I really am not looking forward to not having my own job and money, I will not like being solely dependent on my future husband but that is what I will endure for the first few months I am there. Maybe he just feel like he's not contributing to anything. Do you notice anything different about him when he get there? Try and talk to him about the thing that bothers him and address the issue. I wish you all the best!
-
Really??? Oh wow that is really supportive and sweet! Thank you so much it is really good to have people you can still talk to here :-) THANK YOU or DANKE SCHÖN in german :-)
Not a problem! I appreciate the support I get from this forum. I always look for updates but I just don't post. The last few weeks has been super busy for me because my fiance was here. We parted yesterday I will be with him very very soon now and I have not done any preparation to move. I am still in denial about moving there. I wonder how do other people do it. I know it is to be with the one you love, but what about your loved ones back at home? I'm really gonna miss home.

I'm the US citizen but my husband is from Indonesia. He got here in September. You can not bring fresh fruits or veggies and you can not bring any meats. You can bring instant spices, noodles, etc. Good luck with everything. Terimah Kasih Kembali! . I wasn't sure if indo and Malaysia were exactly the same.
Not exactly the same. There are some distinct differences in the way of speaking and writing but usually understandable by both Malaysians and Indonesians. Both are an easy language to learn too..
Thank you for the tips! I think 20KG will be for clothing, keepsake and stuff and another 20KG will be for FOOD!!
-
Congratulations :-)) wish ya'll only the best for the rest! ?
Thank you Trisha! Sometimes I feel so bad for being so happy when some of you haven't gotten your NOA2 approval yet! I hope it will be VERY soon! All the best for you and I will keep checking this forum until I see you and the rest give us the good news!

Our K1 interview was this morning in Athens. It went well and was approved!
I have tried to confirm this on the CEAC website, but the case number we have on our documents is 4 numbers too short and is not coming up as valid. I contacted the Athens consulate and they simply said they would call us when the visa was ready.
Questions:
Does it always take 10 business days? We (perhaps rashly) booked our flights to the States for 2 weeks after the interview date, so 10 days will be...close!
Is there a way to get updates through the CEAC website? Any other Athens petitioners faced the same thing with an invalid case number?
Also, they gave my fiance her chest xrays back and told her she will have to present them to immigration officials when she lands in the States?!? This seems strange and as far as I know x-rays can't go through the x-ray machine at the airport, so how should we carry them?
I'm not sure how the embassy works there but I got mine within 3 working days including the interview day. After the approval, they told me when and where to get my passport with the visa in it.
About the X-ray. Very good question. I now wonder the same thing. How do we get through?

Focus on bringing favorite clothes, keepsakes, and things you can't get here. You will be able to buy yourself some new clothes once you're here. I wish I had brought more instant spice packets for rendang, soto, etc. You will be craving familiar food pretty often. Good luck! Selamat Datang ke Amerika. Haha. I hope that's right.
Yes! I am not planning to take too much clothing material with me. I only wish I can take lots and lots of food with me! I love the food here in Malaysia! So, when you moved, you took some instant spices? There's no rules on what I can and I can't take with me? Selamat Datang is correct. Terima kasih!
Hi,
Super important is to have the manila envelope that they give you when they send your passport back to you. Seeing as you are traveling from Malaysia you will need to have the manila packet with your carry on baggage as it has all of your documentation in it that the CBP needs upon arrival to the USA.
Yes. That envelope is in a safe place now. VERY IMPORTANT. I will have it in my carry on luggage. thanks

My last status update was on February 26, 2018 saying that my case is transferred to a “local office” and now they said my card is being mailed to me. I hope I will get it tomorrow!
