  1. ok so here is the entire story.. I've been married to my Marine husband for 2 years now. I married my husband because i loved him not for his ssn so i didnt really care to start the paperwork to get my status fixed. I moved in with him 8 months ago and tried to get enrolled to DEERS but was told I needed a ssn. I went to an attorney but I dont have 5000 to spend on getting my status fixed (military underpays) and since i dont have a ssn i cant get a job. now i am 7 months pregnant and have hardly had any prenatal care and arent qualified for medicaid because i have no ssn... cray5ol.gif i have an ITIN and a Mexican matricula (form of i.d.) but they are saying I need a passport. I called to make an appointment to get my passport but the mexican consulate doesnt have appointments until October!! what can I do ? can I use my mexican matricula as a form of I.D. or what please help I called on base and the DEERS office but they both keep saying the same thing. I either need a ssn or a state I.d. and the people I talk to are so beyond rude its embarrassing to go and talk to them they degrade me so much.. I've been here since I was 2 years old but money is a huge issue

  2. That is absolutely false. Deers is something that my department administrates and we have seen this several time. We have a few sailors here with foriegn wives awaiting change of status and we were able to enrol them in DEERS. Just make your case and be stern, you shouldn't have to go without healthcare just because some Yeoman doesn't know how to read a manual. Sorry but I get real frustrated when I hear about proffesionals not knowing their job. Good luck

I'm actually scared to get too firm on telling them what they are saying is false im sacred my husband might get in trouble. I called DEERS 2 days ago and they didnt help much they just forward my call to the I.D. office on base and again they said i might be able to use my ITIN but I still need a passport so I called the Mexican Consulate to get my passport and they dont have appointments until October!!!! I freaked out cray5ol.gif Idk what I am to do my baby is due in 2 months and I dont even qualify for medicaid because I dont have a ssn :(

  3. I am SO beyond glad I found this! ok so Ive been married to an active duty marine for almost 2 years now. when i first moved in with him we went down to go and get me an I.d. but i was told i NEEDED a ssn... the officer was beyond rude about the topic I honestly felt humiliated about it. so we left and just kinda gave up about it. I am in the process of applying for a green card but dont have the money for the applications at the moment., I am now 7 months pregnant and havent been able to get correct prenatal check ups for my baby and really need more info on what exactly i need to get into DEERS to get insurance for my pregnancy need help please!!!!!! I have an ITIN but they said they couldnt accept that and that I needed two types of identifications but I only have my Mexico I.D. which is translated in English.
