  1. I am curious if anyone could help me with this question. I am wondering if once my husband comes on his CR-1 visa next month if we have to go to the Social Security office or will he get a number? On the forms for his visa it asked if he has a SSN and if not would he like one to be assigned. I told him to select "yes" as the option on this question for assignment of SSN. Based on this question, now I'm confused.

    Anyone else encountered this?

  2. I gave everything from bank statments, wage slips, mortgage details as we bought a house in ireland 7 months ago. They just want to make sure he can support himself when in the states. Does he own any property? If so include any documents supporting this.

I gave Claudeth 3 years of my tax returns and the lady that did the pre-interview stuff made copies of them

I would definitely have 3 years of taxes ready. They request the 1040 and a W4. I just did this for my husband and these were very important to them at the embassy.

  3. My husband, Dion and I got married in Bali on January 19th and applied for his IR-1/CR-1 at the embassy in Jakarta. I am happy to say that after his interview this week, he's approved and will be picking up his passport/visa at the embassy next week! I booked his ticket for March 24 and I'm just overjoyed that we won't have to be apart anymore. It's been a very long engagement! :)

Then tonight I learned from this website that he doesn't have to file for permission to work or to leave the US. This is excellent because I'm a musician and going on tour soon and wanted the option of taking him with me but didn't think it possible. Another positive bit of news! Also he has several hiring prospects, so they'll be happy to know he can work right away!

Thanks very much to the people who run this website. You are godsends. I was so confused about his visa until I read the information about the Direct Consular filing for non-residents. That's what we did but up until now all the info I found was based on K-3 and not this rare form of filing, so I thought we had a lot more paperwork ahead of us!

Best of luck to the rest of you,

    Eve-Natasha
