  1. Hello again everyone! It's been a long time since I last made a post, but I am having some problems. In a previous thread, I stated that my Polish Passport expired in 1986. I unfortunately haven't renewed it, and now I want to,. I called the Polish Consulate, and they advised me that I would need to file forms Confirming my Polish Citizenship, (which they said was a very looong process), and then file my application for a passport. They told me this would include a lot of driving since I would need to the consulate in New York, (I'm in Cleveland) drive their to file Citizenship forms, come back to file passport forms, and come back to pick up the passport. This would mean a lot of driving for me and I can't take days off work to spend all this time driving.

So my question is, can I file a form I-134, application for USCIS reentry permit and use that as an acting passport until I apply for US citizenship and get a US passport in 2017?

Would other countries' governments allow me to enter their country on a reentry permit?

Thank you everyone in advance for all your help. You guys have been a God- send when I was applying for adjustment of status.

  2. If I may know, what other forms you need to file? The process is really straightforward.

I think there are discounts in some cases. A passport costs $150. It doesn't sound like a lot if you consider it is for 10 years.

I need to also file a Confirmation of Polish Citizenship which is $110. I need to pay for the passport, $140. I need to register my marriage in Poland and I'm not sure of the cost but I believe that it's between $100-$200.

And it can also take 8-12 months for the Confirmation of Citizenship to be processed and another 6-12 for the passport to come. So a total of about 1 1/2- 2 years.

Thats why I wanted to know if i could just travel with a USCIS travel document.

  3. Is there a particular reason you don't want to use your Polish passport? e.g. you are going to visit some country that absolutely hates Poland (I can't think of any) and won't let you in with a Polish passport?

In theory, if you were stateless, or can't get a passport from your country, then you could try to use a reentry permit as a travel document. However, I would imagine that you would run into lots of hassles with that, and some countries might not give you visas on that thing. If you have a passport, then you should use it.

i dont have a polish passport and i dont have money for one because there are other forms that i would have to file with the polish consulate for other things and i noticed that the travel document was free so i was just wondering if i could use it instead of a polish passport

  4. Had our interview on June 21st 2013. Interviewer did not make any decision on the spot. He did state over and over that we can expect to hear from him in 2-3 weeks !! It's been 1 month & 21 days and no word from USCIS. We moved on the last day of July and used the online change of address form. We received the change of address notice by text and email on Tuesday. The processing time in my local office for a I-485 is December 23rd of 2012, I just can't imagine that the local office in "Cleveland" would be that busy !! My confirmation date for when they received my AOS packet is April 10th. What can possibly be taking this long ? No matter how they feel about us they should at least mail something right ?! We're so tired of waiting because this process has cost us sooo much financially & otherwise. Calling USCIS customer service has proven useless too. Our whole life is on hold and its rather frustrating ....

I totally agree with you... How can the Cleveland office be that busy? My Noa date is for June 12, 2013 for my I-485 but my interview is scheduled for September 3, 2013 so I think that the online times aren't that accurate.

  5. This is normal.

The online system sucks. You can't read into it and think every tiny detail is a big deal. It's not. Whatever it says online is irrelevant. The online system is not directly linked to your case. It's going to sit on acceptance until it is approved. Trust the paper letters they send you.

What do you mean that what it says online is irrelevant? How is it not directly linked to the case?

  6. Hi everyone!

My aos was received at Chicago Lockbox on June 7 and NOA1 was received on June 15 (dated June 12)

I want to know where the 1-130 and I-485 will be processed because it says NBC but i looked at NBC processing times and I-130 and I-485 is not listed. I can see I-765 at NBC.

Will they be processed at my local office? (Cleveland, OH)

I have seen people getting their GC without an interview. Is this likely and is there any ''hint'' to know if i will need an interview?

When will i receive my biometrics appt? I have seen people getting them a few days after their NOA and it's been almost a week for me.

Lastly, about how long should this whole process take? (i'm aos from 27 year b2 overstay w/2 children born in USA)

You can't even imaging how thankful i am for you guys!!! :)
