My fiancee brought 4 bags of mostly clothes along with her laptop and cellphone. She also brought extra certified copies of her birth certificate and her high school transcripts.

Hi all,
We mailed my wife's AOS package in late January. USCIS received her package on January 28 and sent her NOA1 on January 31. She had her biometrics February 26, but we have gotten no updates about her application. Online it still says Acceptance for the AOS and Initial Review for the EAD/AP. Is this normal? I thought there would at least be an update after her biometrics. I just see so many people already with their EAD/AP and even their GC it makes me worry for my wife's application. Anyone else in the same boat as us? Thanks for your time and congrats to all the people that have already got their GC.

Also, if you are traveling with your fiancee then you can both enter together on the US Citizen side. I traveled with my fiancee who had her POE at Dulles. They told us to both go to the US Citizen line. When we went through the checkpoint the Officer took her packet and passport. Took her fingerprints and photo and asked when the wedding was. Then he stamped her passport.

Right under the section "Civil Ceremony" it states, "Marriage ceremonies conducted by the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriage are performed at the following offices of the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk." The officiant would be the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner, so yes, they provide the officiant. Also that link gives phone numbers for all the local offices so you can contact them via phone. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure this link answers every question you have. http://rrcc.lacounty.gov/clerk/marriages.cfm

Looks like I found an answer to my question here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/428381-i-693-report-of-medical-examination-and-vaccination-report/?p=6206232
If anyone sees this thread in the future the answer was that she does not need any more vaccines. We are good to go to file for AOS.

I'm not sure how to read my wife's DS-3025. Is she supposed to get a Td and Varicella vaccine or not because it says that applicant may be eligible for waiver? If she needs vaccines can she get them done by her doctor under our insurance and then have a panel physician see that and fill out the form? I'm just not sure and I haven't seen a clear answer on this forum yet. Thanks in advance for any help. I've attached a redacted copy of her DS-3025.

We received our NOA2 August 7th and every time I called NVC they said it can take up to 8 weeks, but after 2 weeks of calling every day we recieved our MNL# so just keep calling them. If the hold time on the phone at NVC is long you can always try the Department of State at 202-633-1225. They have access to the same info as the NVC.

All you need to do is list the names of the schools, the city they are in, the dates attended, the course of study and the degree or diploma. You do not need to attach any school record. That's what my fiancee put and she was approved last week.

Just a follow up. She passed her medical with no problems. Thanks all for your replies.

I just wanted to updated this for anybody who might see it later. We did put yes on both questions and she passed the interview. They didn't even question her about it. They also didn't question at all that I filled out the forms for her. Thanks all for your replies.

Can my fiancée take and pass her medical if she has a cold? She has a dry cough and a sore throat. She plans to go to St. Luke's on Monday and Tuesday and her interview is next Tuesday so it's the last chance to go for the medical. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had an experience getting their medical while having a cold. Thanks.

thanks guys for the responses. that makes me sleep easier.

It's ok that you both checked intend to work and study. Also it won't be a problem that you filled the DS156 for hee. Just make her familiarize some of the info on it as it may be a question at the interview. If they asked why you prepared it then just say bc she had bad internet connection.
Review your docs that they are completely and correctly filled out and you'll be ok
My fiance wants to know if that was how you answered those questions. To see if someone got approved answering the same thing. Sorry if that's too personal you don't need to answer. Thanks for your reply.

My fiancee has another question she wants me to ask. I have much better internet than her, so I filled out DS-156 for her and signed at the bottome that I prepared it for her. Will this bring up any red flags at the interview? Has anyone been denied for doing this? Has anyone been approved that has done this. Thanks again. As the interview date gets closer (Sept 10) my fiancee, and I, are getting more and more nervous.

I have a question, especially for those who were approved. On form DS-156 when it asks if you intend to work in the U.S we put yes: with work authorization, employer unknown. When it asked if you intend to study in the U.S we also put yes: school unknown. My fiancee is worried that at the interview this will make it look like she's only coming to the U.S. to work and study and that our relationship is not genuine. I think that it will look suspicious if we say no because the intent with a K1 is that you adjust status to permanent resident and of course she will work and study in the U.S. in the future. Did anyone else put yes for either or both of those questions and get approved? Did anyone get denied because they answered yes to either one or both of those questions? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I just found this thread because I also didn't know what the priority date was. How is anyone supposed to know that means NOA1 received date? you would think they would make the instructions clearer.

the question about whether or not it needs to be an original signature is answered here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/220499-k-1-petition-information/
It states:
"G-325a, Signed or Unsigned? Unsigned.
WHAT? Ok I have seen the memo but lots of VJ members got RFEs for unsigned G-325s, what gives? They do not have to be signed, they can be signed at the consualte interview. Some adjusicators haven't read all the memos, we get hundreds of the things, and maybe they make a mistake. If you want to be sure there is no mistake, sign it. Or send a letter expalining why it is not signed and request it be signed at the interview. Do you have that memo?"I had my fiancee send me an original signature through FedEx, I got it in about 3 days and it cost $20. I had her send me all the documents that I needed her signature on at once to save money. I emailed her the forms already filled out and she printed them and signed them and then sent them to me.
As far as the K1 vs CR1 I don't have an answer. There will be an interview at the embassy in your country so if you are legally married by your countries standards, which I assume they will knoe at the embassy in your country, then you cannot use the K1.

On section 2, Place of Issuance, all my finacee's passport says is DFA Pampanga. What am I supposed to put here for city, country and State/Province. The Manila Embassy only gives directions for passports issued from Manila. My fiancee said she applied for it in Angeles City so I do I put that for city or just leave it blank. I'm confused and there are not any specific directions from the embassy and my search here on visa journey didn't help either. Thanks in advance.

thanks for all your replies. I guess we're also a bit worried because I started helping about a month after we first met online so we're afraid that might look bad.

I have a question about the fact that I have been financially supporting my fiance for a while now. We've met in person and all so it's not a question about if she is taking advantage of me. In fact she never asked for the help, I offered on my own. The question is will this bring up any red flags at the interview. I helped her get her own apartment because she was having issues with her parents. She's afraid if the embassy knows she is being supported financially by me that they will think we don't have a legitimate relationship. My attitude is we don't have to volunteer any info, but if they ask we just have to be honest and explain the situation. She's afraid they will know I help her because she has her own apartment. She wants to say that she lives with her aunt, but I told her that we cannot lie at all ever, but she's still nervous. I'm about 8 and half years older than her; she's mid twenties, I'm early 30's. Do you think we will have any problems?
I 130 for parent of USC in wrong category
in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America

I made a mistake when filling out the I 130 to petition my mother. I looked over the form so many times and thought I understood everything, but I misread Part 1 question 1 as asking who I was so I chose Child. I realize now I should have chose parent because it asks who I'm filing this petition for, but at the time I really thought they were asking who I was. I didn't realize the mistake until I got my NOA1 in November that said my application for my child was received. I called the service desk and they recommended I write a letter to the California Service Center where my petition is. I wrote a letter explaining my misunderstanding and how everything else in the packet is obviously about my mother; I don't even have a child. I sent the letter and have heard nothing. I checked the wait times today and noticed that the wait for an I 130 for a child is 2 years and CSC doesn't even process petitions for parents of USC. I made an infopass appointment today to see if I can clear this up in person, but I was wondering if anyone else made the same mistake and if they were able to get it fixed. I'd hate to have to refile and pay the fee again, but I understand if I have to.
