My husband had no problem last month. The new expiration date is in a year, so he'll have to renew again once he has his 10yr GC. You shouldn't have a problem unless you're in a smaller town where there (maybe) aren't as many people doing ROC.

My hubby got his biometrics letter today! I'm so glad because I've been stressed all week wondering if I should've called for an update from uscis. His appointment is scheduled for the 11th, but I'm thinking he'll go next week. Yay!

We got the interview waver letter too (dated June 5th). 6 months..... what a wait!

I wouldn't be concerned just yet. I filed 5th Feb and I still don't have an EAD/AP acceptance yet. They seem to be taking the full 90 days to process at the moment.. I would wait til that time has passed before getting too worried!

Hi everyone!! I have a quick question.

Our NOA was February 21, our Biometrics (early walk-in) was on March 5th. I changed our address on March 7th because we were going to be moving at the end of March and I wanted to make sure mail wasn't lost. Since then, our case hasn't been updated online and we haven't received any mail regarding an interview date.

Should we be concerned?

VisaJourney predicts he'll have the EAD by the end of April.... but I'm just wondering if the change of address screwed things up for us because I'm seeing other people with EAD acceptance that filed at the same time as us.

Any thoughts? Thank you!

You should receive your biometrics notice a week or two after your NOA1. My NOA 1 was on February 21, and I received the Biometrics letter March 4th. Our appointment was scheduled for March 20th, but we did a successful walk-in on March 5th with no problems.

We just got our Biometrics appointment notice!!!! It's March 20th! We're considering doing an early walk-in... but nervous to do it because it's a 1.5 hour drive to the office. And if they turn us away it would be a waste in gas $. Any advice? (Yes, I've read the topic about walk-ins)

I have a question about the DS-230 (part 1).

For the following question:

42. Have you ever been refused entry into the US at a port of entry? If yes, explain.

Last year when I (a US citizen) was living in Canada with my French fiancé, we needed to go to the US/Canadian border to extend my work permit in my passport (to be able to work in Canada for another few months). We didn't need to enter the US to do this, we just needed to "leave Canada" in order to immediately "enter" in order to renew at the Canadian border. (we just turned around at the border)

At the border, they stamped my passport that showed that I exited Canada. But for my fiancé, they just denied his entry in order to make my work permit extension process faster than him having to go inside and get his fingerprints and stuff done. Because, remember, we weren't staying in the US... just turning around at the border.

So my question is whether or not this situation would be considered a "denial of entry" into the US...? I don't even know if this is on his record??. How should we deal with this in the future and for the DS-230 form?

I just read that 90% of IRS offices will be furloughed. So I guess tax transcripts that were requested online will be delayed...? (want transcripts for k1 interview)

My mom is our co-sponsor for the Affidavit of support... and she is insisting that I cross out all but the last 4 digits of her SSN on her tax documents for the interview because she is afraid of identity theft. She is worried the papers will get lost somewhere between California and France (I am shipping the documents to my fiancé for his interview)

Is that ok to do? Or does the embassy need to know her entire SSN for some reason (I would assume yes if they want to confirm her identity somehow?)

Congrats! Ours was also CSC, and was approved in 38 days. They've been speedy (with some, not all unfortunately) lately.

And as for the NVC... it might take a while. We've been waiting 5 weeks for them to receive our file from CSC (since Aug 22 approval date).

Ours was Aug 22 too! I called earlier today and was greeted by a worker who clearly hated his job.... and got the "8 week" line.

Hopefully we will get good news before next week!

I just wanted to ask a question about the address of the USC (petitioner).

I am a graduate student in California. When we filed our 129F, I did not know where I would be living when classes started in September for school, so I corresponded everything to my parent's address (my "permanent address"), which is also in California.

Now that we have received our NOA2 and are in the process of planning for his interview, I was wondering if it is a big deal if I continue to say that my address is with my parents.... or if I should submit a change of address form. The problem is that I do not know if I will be living at the same address at my university for much longer, because there is a chance that I'll be graduating in December. (in which case I will move back to my parents house until I get a job)

I guess my main question is that at the interview when or if they ask my fiancé "where does your fiancee live?" ... should he say with my parents, or should he say in the town of my university, which is 2 hours drive away?

Is it that big of a deal?

Thanks for those stats! Our got our NOA2 on Aug 22, so hopefully we will be getting our case number within the next couple weeks. Everytime I call NVC, they give me the "it can take up to 8 weeks" speech. So I'm just having some patience and calling once a week until we hear something.

You would obviously need to have it translated into English, or could do it yourself if you are fluent in both English and French.

Sorry for the confusion. The birth certificate is my mom's, who is a US citizen. She is the co/joint-sponsor for our I-134 affidavit of support..

My fiancé and I filed our K1 Visa application a few months ago, and have already received our NOA2. We are now in the waiting process between NOA2 and the interview process at his local US embassy.

Lately he has been really concerned with the job "waiting game" after he enters the US and after we get married (during the AOS stage of the process). I think it is really killing him that during that time he won't be able to work and will essentially be sitting around waiting for the approval before he can apply for jobs in the US.

Because he is anxious about this... he is rethinking the entire process. He keeps asking me about the idea of him getting hired somewhere else in the world before his entry into the US. (He is applying for jobs outside of the US and one in particular he is very interested in).

As you can imagine, I want to be there to support whatever decision he wants.... but it scares me that our immigration process will be postponed until he is ready to face the waiting game. I don't think he realizes that immigration into the US takes a lot of time, patience, and money. And he's suddenly starting to wonder whether it is really all worth it when I (a US citizen) can immigrate to another country with him. My thoughts tell me that for me to immigrate somewhere else would be just as much of a headache.

I think everyone who goes through the K1 visa process feels hopeless during the AOS stage of the process, simply because they have to wait t work. Sometimes I wonder if the CR-1 process would have been less of a headache during his job-hunt once he enters the US.

Does anybody have any words of wisdom? The long-distance between him and I is making me extra emotional, and I would like to hear some encouraging words from somebody who understands!

My birth certificate is from twenty years later and handwritten, and I had no issues presenting it to USCIS or the Social Security Administration.

But do you thing a copy is sufficient? Because on the original there is a "seal" that cannot be seen in the copy. I would almost rather send the original to France for the interview and ask if they can keep a copy if they need a copy.

I've tried searching for the answer for over a week now, but haven't found a definite yes or no.

My mom is our co-sponsor for the I-134 (K1 visa NOA2 received... in the interview planning waiting game right now). She was born in 1958 and her birth certificate is handwritten. It has her name, date of birth, parent's names, signature of recorder, and lists which county she was born in.

Should I have her try to track down a more "modern" birth certificate that isn't handwritten? Or will this one be ok? Also... would a copy be alright? Or should I mail her original over to my fiancé for the interview?

Obviously I would rather be safe than sorry, but if I can get a quick yes or no here ,that would be great!
