My husband has an appointment on June 18 for visa pick!!!!! Please pray for us!!! Inshallah this time they actually give it to him!!!!

They don't take your passport if you are placed on AP, after AP is finished, they call you to bring in the passport. Why would you be denied if they verbally told you everything in your folder is fine? I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Well in my case they took my husbands passport and when I email the embassy they say this :

Thank you for your email. We will contact your husband as soon as his visa is ready to be picked up.

And when I call dos hotline they say he is on AP... So I really don't know. But yeah I have been wating 5 years and my son has never meet his father!!! They just kept hitting us with missing documents and rejecting sponsors and finally file is complete and they have his passport but no visa still!!! So I'm just praying he will get that call to go and pick up his visa!!! Inshallah soon!!!!

Hey Albabeli an yafa I don't know if you guys mentione this or not already so sorry for being redundant but i just wanted to clarify : ok both of you petitioned for your wives and both got interviews and approved and in two weeks the embassy inshallah will be giving them their visa's. Right? So at the moment does the embassy have your wives passports???? If anyone knows let me know please thanks!!!

Hi, interview went well. They gave me a white slip stating to come back in two weeks but they said that not to be surprised if the visa is not issued in two weeks. They took the passport and told me to come back.

well all the documents were in the folder and when my husband first went to the first intervieing officer who is originally yemeni he told him to give him everything and they took all the documents they needed and gave us back only a few. and i dont know what the pink slip is.. im kinda worried now that our case is in adminstrative processing has anyone went threw this ?

Hey guys I have a question for anyone out there who may know..... Is it true when you go in to receive your visa there is a fee the CO asks for???? I believe it's around $310 or $320...?????... For albabeli.. Was your wife asked to pay for anything ???

You guys I wish this was true but I just called the dos hotline and they said he has been put on AP!!!!! :-( .... I think when the emails say we will call him when ready, it practically means he is in AP!!!! And the second time he went in they sent him home without a receipt... So they can do and say whatever they want!!!! I am so down right now I guess I just have to wait....:-( :-( :-( :-/

It's possible. Or they could be calling the references they may have asked him for (I think they do that at this embassy). Background checks take a long time especially in Yemen where public records are hard to come by. So many people don't even know when they or their parents were born. I know it's painful but all you can do is continue to send them email reminders every once in a while that he's still waiting for his visa. If his case meets all their requirements and his background checks out all right, then he will get it sooner or later. God willing, sooner, rather than later. But you and your husband are not in control at this point. He will hear back when they are ready to say anything. You can try getting your State Representative or Senators involved but I'm not convinced they are really able to help move things along. They are only able to inquire. Hoping you hear good news soon!

PS: No I don't think his father's name is going to be a deal breaker. It's a popular name and the real meaning of the word is more innocuous than most Americans realize.

But they didn't ask my husband for any references to be honest they didn't ask him much at all just the regular name birthday all supporting documents then they took his passpory and said ok here is a slip (like a reciept) and was told ok come back with it in a week in order to pick up your visa. When he went back they said sorry we are having "printing issues" then through email just the same thing over and over: "we will contact him when ready"!!!! I just pray and pray that he will get that phone call soon!!!! Oh by the way I forgot to tell you guys he received a phone call from the us embassy in Yemen in beginning of may. The guy said are you so and so and my husband said yes. He asked him do you have your visa yet ? My husband said no you Guys have it!! So the guy said ok your petition/file is with the counselor officer and hung up!!!!! So honestly I don't even know anymore!!!! But inshallah soon!!!!

I agree with shayma's message. Check the site that shayma provided in the post above and check if the visa has been issued. The same thing happened to me and it took about a month to receive the call back for pickup. Apparently the site said the visa was issued and the embassy did not have the folder package put together for pickup. All will be well, it is just a matter of time for them to call you.

Yes thanks guys ... That's what I do daily and tells me "ready" like ready for an interview. So I emailed the embassy and I said why does it say ready for interview when he has gone through the interview and given a date to come pick up his visa but was told "printing issues". They said oh it's an interview to pick up his visa we just don't have a date yet... Time slot.... The latest message from the us embassy was this:

Thank you for your email. We will contact your husband as soon as his visa is ready to be picked up.

So I am just praying that soon they will call him!!! Hey Brooklyn Man when they finally called your wife did they also have her passport for a month because they have my husbands passport and it's been over 2 months. But again thanks guys for all your comments !!!!!

I Mentioned before that I know friends who works there, and I know the way they work, I respect that way. I called one yesterday about people not getting there visa on time. he said Background check!!!!

You think the reason they have not given my husband his visa is because they are doing a background check or believe there needs to be an extra check even though his criminal background check was clear?????!!!!!! ..... how long do they do this for? We are going on month 3 and counting!!!!!. ... So this is the last message I got from the embassy:

so many people are trying to make appointments and they cant i dont know why i think they just dont want to .. who did u contact when u tryed to make an appointment did u email them the IVSanaa@state.gov because emy husband got an appointment and i sent an email to the email address and they made me my appointment to go with my husband and my son.. my appointment did not come yet its not until another week .. but can u tell me what questions they asked ur husband when he went..

Well After my husbands interview they told him go home and we will call you when your visa has been printed. When I email that same email address they told me waiting to find time slot. But can you tell me how "you" were able to make an appointment yourself???? Can I do that???? Why can't they give him an appointment to pick up his visa when so many others are giving appointments for their interviews????!!!!! But to our surprise when he went in for his interview they asked no questions. They reviewed the paperwork and you know general questions...your name date of birthday and that was pretty much it!!!!! They gave him a pink slip said come back and a week. A week later said printing problems and to go home and they will call him. When I email us embassy they said trying to find time slot for an appointment !!!! It really frustrating!!! But can you please update us after your interview please thanks!!!

Here is my issue: My husband went in for his first interview in sanaa yemen on march 2013 and they said come back in a week to pick up visa... Went back and they said go home we will call you . currently its may 2013 and we have not heard anything! Through email they tell me they do not have a time slot for him to come and pick up his visa!!! They said once they have an appointment for him they will call him, so that is why I am curious of how so many are saying they have appointments for an interview. And they put our case under "ready for interview" like he will have to go through another interview. I am so frustrated and I have a son who is sick/disabled so I really can't go back to visit!!! I really dont understand any of these. At first they said printing problems then they say until they find an appointment time and date for him... Really it sounds all bs ... Right....???...!!!!! Anyone have any thoughts or has heard of such a thing!!???!! Comments are really appreciated thanks!!!

I'm really sorry you have to go through all of this.

What you should find out is if your husband is under administrative processing. At the end of his interview did they give him a 221g green sheet? It's literally a green sheet. Find out.

A friend of mine told me her sister's husband's visa was supposed to be picked up aswell but they said they were having trouble with the visa printer. That could be the problem as well. And May hasn't been too long ago. Please have hope.

Also lastly, contact your senator to inquire on your behalf. This could be very beneficial to your case.

Go to the Debbie Stabenow website and get in contact with them. Or call them, even better.

I really don't know what's going on. I think my husband and I are getting screwed!!!! When I email them they just say we will contact him shortly!!!! Serious I don't even know what shortly is anymore!!! The last two emails they won't even respond!!!! Honestly I don't know why they won't give him his visa!!!! How hard is it to call him and say come pick up your visa at this time on this date!!!! I could see if there was missing documents but they keep saying we will contact him shortly.
