  1. Hey guys

Back after a long time away working and working and working some more. God they kill you with work in this country. I Miss the uk. Never worked this hard there lol.

So still waiting on that green card status to change to interview and testing. It's been 7months already since we filed.

Hope you guys are having better news from them.

And cos I am a sucker for punishment I am just about to start my masters in family nurse practitioner next month so really do need to start chasing theses people for the green card as the university who accepted me needs proof of status.

How's everyone else getting on with work?

  2. My mail man takes his darn time getting to me every day comes around 3.00. God I don't think he likes his job very much. Or he is a uscis agent so he is just following guidelines and protocols. Page 3 of the Manuel tak forever to deliver nurseling mail even after we have approved her. Cos we want to see her come down to the benefit centre and beat our backside red.

Don't these people know hell hath no fury like a Nurses wrath?

  3. Thanks so much topoftherock! I also appreciated your earlier message of encouragement too, thank you.

Oh yes, we are celebrating tonight indeed...I am so grateful! I feel like the weight of the world has lifted, only those who travel these roads would truly understand, so I am not going anywhere :)

Have fun on your travels too. You might want to check your luggage for stow away Nurseling...lol

haha CJC am disguised as the big coat in the luggage will shape change back once we land in London lol. Just got to get through immigration first.
  4. Greetings Awesome People

Well what a week it has been for me (and all of us no doubt)!

Had my interview today and everything went well. The interview went for about 4 minutes with most of the questions being directed at Hubby which related to the I-864.

I wasn't asked for proof of anything, which though being rather fabulous, it was a small downer because I had prepared a lovely presention folder complete with tabulations and hot pink sticky notes.....lol

Whilst our interview wasn't 'approved on the spot', the IO (very serious fellow who we did manage to make laugh - albeit a teeny one) said that my GC will most likely be approved and that I will be advised in writing in about 30 days or so. He didn't ask for my EAD and I didn't offer it up either (needed it for SSN...he he)

Well about 30 mins ago I received a text/email from USCIS saying the GC was in production....so for all intents and purposes, I have made it into the next round.....yay and huzzah! :dancing:

Thanks again to everyone for their support to date - this forum has saved my sanity countless times, we all rock here...lol

Now the fun begins in finding work!

For everyone waiting, hopefully not long for you now. You are in my thoughts and vibes of making stuff happen :)

Congrats to you CJC so happy to hear good news your green card approval is amazing just for that I will downsize the hose whip to a donkey whip lol. Won't need to come whoop their backside for you too lol.

So happy for you crack the bubbly and let's get legless lol

    :) :)

  5. Congrats malealpha!! Awesome news :) I wish we could do a Jan filers party too, I imagine all of us would complain together about this process lol maybe fill out a few forms for fun? :P

Don't worry CJC, with your never ending optimism I know you're going to sail through and win them over! :)

Nurseling...lol sure I have a massive suitcase which could easily fit two bodies, if your hubby wants to join too haha! Where in England are you from? I'm from London.

To those still waiting, my AOS has been at acceptance since noa1, mid Jan. No updates at all.

    Hey topoftherock2013

I am from west London Ladbroke grove area. God I so want to take you up on the offer of being a stow away in your luggage. My hubby can't come he has work Monday lol. Since I may have to start my job end April good opportunity to go back to London. Loll no EAD yet. Hoping it turns up Saturday or I really might have to go buy that horse whip for real and go whip those people's backside at the benefits centre. Once I finish whipping their backside people will think they are all members of the baboon family lol.

Hope you have a wonderful time back home enjoy it all before you join the slave trade called the America work force. No rest once you get working lol.

  6. Hey Nurseling,

It will not be long you will get yours too. My card is en route from Knoxville, TN to here already, expected delivery time will be tomorrow. Lets see. I still did not receive my AP mail, no tracking for this one but hopefully it will arrived today.

Congratulations to all who has been sharing good news. Good job guys[/quot

    Hey atlcat

Been a long day had to do human resource stuff today . Ended up having to phone uscis and they said your card was mailed to the address we have on file today. Funny cos the system only changed when I got off the phone from them. Still no tracking number. I take it you don't have a tracking number too? When did they mail yours out . Hope the EAD turns up Saturday or my job will be pushed back to the 28th April as a start date.

Hope you recieve yours tomorrow .

  7. Thank you!!! Back home in Ghana, there isn't anything like drug screens too..I only did a background check (where they did a criminal background check) because the company I was working for had it's headquarters here in the US and since I was working in both Ghana and here, I went through their background check process. But yeah almost every company here runs a criminal background check and also checks for drugs lol.

I am starting Monday (04/14/2014) even though I got the offer just today so no time to relax lol. They have been needing a developer for a long time for the position I am going to fill. I have been to the firm on 4 occasions and they seem to have a very relaxed atmosphere there. Everyone I talked to there (about 7 people in all - from an IT manager through to an HR person and the VP of finance) told me about how they pride themselves in being very flexible (hopefully it's true lol). Overall, I like what I have seen so far. As of now, I am more interested in the compensation package though..which is quite good so I was surprised they were struggling to find someone to fill the position.

I hope you enjoy where you will be working at too. This 2 months have been full of good news and I pray it continues like that for every member of this group. Your card will be mailed soon though. usually you should get it in 2 days after it is mailed. And apply for social security ASAP. I did mine same day and got it in a week (YES 7 days!). God bless us all!

Thanks CJC. You can't imagine my joy here. My wife is throwing a party for me smh lol. Wished I could have everyone in this group there. God bless us all!

    Hi maleAlpha

Sounds like you have everything all sorted. Congrats again. So Monday meaning no time to rest at all. I really just can't wait to start working. Possibles I may have to wait till 28 April to start. Went to do my human resources stuff today and well since this whole EAD thing is a new concept for them they said they will call me back tomorrow cos technically I am not allowed to start the job unless they see my EAD card. You can imagine I Came home and spent the best part of a hour talking to uscis. They said they mailed it out today and nothing they can do since it's already mailed. Hmmm

Anyway called hr told them what they told me so I don't know if I will see that card Saturday. I know you did say two days priority but there's not even no tracking number available .its funny cos as soon as I got of the phone from them my status changed to card mailed and still no tracking number. I tell you these people need their backside whooped with a horse whip lol . They are so laid back about everything lol.

I will pray Saturday gods Devine power brings my card in the mail.

  8. Yaay! Just got my first job offer in a software development position. Pretty intense hiring process (4 rounds of interview including technical tests and 2 phone screens) but it was worth it. Doing my drug screen tomorrow, 04/10/2014 and starting on monday. I'm excited! Thank God. Now I can patiently wait on the green card inteview date.

Congratulations very happy for you well done.

Lol I did my drug screen last week. Haha apparently that's the norm here in the usa to have drug screen before commencing a job and random ones may be given while employed. The lady at my daycare that works for the same company I will be working for said it's not there fault they think everyone's a heroin addict lol.

I guess we have no choice but to follow the rules makes you wonder just how trusting of people they are here.

Oh well onwards with the process we go. Hope you enjoy working for the company that hired you. When's the start date am due to start Monday still no word. The card in production status is still has not changed.

  9. It is a small world. We might had bumped at each other in there already..lol..we shop on weekends only. Your husband is right people here focus so much on work work and more work, my husband is not an exception to that but life is too short not to enjoy. We always try to explore places whenever we can. Hospital schedule is crazy. My sister is also a nurse back home we hardly see her always on overtime.

Anyways, checked USCIS today, status for EAD mailed already, again no notification. We are expecting approval of AP will arrived today since they mailed it last Friday.

It is a small world. You are so right we probably have bumped into each other. I go there during the week or at weekends depends.

Yes uscis don't seem to send messages all the time. My status still stuck at card in production so I wonder if they have mailed it and yet no message to say it has been mailed.

It hopefully turns up tomorrow or Friday.

  10. Hi Friends!

I've been in the U.S. for about 10 days now, and we had our civil ceremony this past weekend... yes, I know we moved quick! My grandma was visiting from another province, and so we wanted to have the civil ceremony while she was still visiting :). We filed our marriage license with the county I live in, so now we are officially husband and wife... hurray!

We are getting ready to file the Adjustment of Status paperwork, and I had a few questions stemming from when I entered in the US (and advice on what those of you who have filed for Adjustment of Status already would be much appreciated!)

We had an incredibly friendly CBP agent, who said we need to file for I-130. This is not a document on the VJ "Step by Step" guide for Adjustment for K-1... so, I do not believe I need to file for this?

Also, he said we should file for I-131 "Advanced Parole" so I could have the option of leaving the U.S. I was considering filling this out, however, the I-131 requires a date and reason for travel of which I have none. Have any of you filed for this?

Also, we never received a paper NOA2 approval notice, only an email from USCIS, and the VJ Step by Step guide says we should submit a copy of this along with our application. Wouldnt it be obvious that we were approved initially, since we had an interview, I have a visa in my passport, and that I have already been admitted to the U.S.? I will contact USCIS for a copy of this letter if need be -- but I would hate to pay out of pocket for this letter, to the tune of over $400, even though we never received it in the first place!!

    Hi sjs

I just got my approval for EAD and AP on Thursday gone so the card is in production as of now.

Number one you do not need to file i130 that's for people who did not go the k1 route.

What you need to file is i485 and i131 and i765 the forms can be downloaded here on the site. Pls read all instructions and provide the evidence. Yes you will need your noa2 copy to send with your application. Also make sure you have your tax transcript last 3 years is what I sent and I got no rfe. I also sent 5 pay stubs for my husband. Pls do not forget to include a original of your marriage licence I ordered 4 copies as I have heard sometimes they ask for original. Also copy of your passport visa page and your Canadian pic page. Your husbands birth certificate copy. Do not forget your i94 print out outs online pls attach a copy to each application that you are filing as they are going in diffrent departments make sure you get additional 4 passport pics and attach them to application. Also medical form from when you did k1 medical copy needs to be attached. Put the correct filling fee I attached a cheque. Then mail everything either signed which is what I did or two day express up to you. Then wait for acceptance notice 4 weeks later you will get finger prints letter for biometrics.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on and congratulations on the wedding so happy for you.:)

  11. Hello guys, here is the latest update from our side.

AOS Interview went well, IO was very nice and had chit-chat with him for 15 minutes and then the good news, :dancing: we were approved on the spot. He took the EAD card from me and said this is not valid anymore and gave a print out of the Green Card approval. As per him we will get our card in 1-2 weeks max. Thank God and thank you everyone at VJ for helping out with all the valuable info.

Good luck to all of you and hope you get approved soon.

Congratulations to you. Nice to always hear good news.

  12. I haven't even applied yet...I hope I'm not in for a shock in the job search. I hear Manhattan jobs are tough to get. I'm studying at the moment, my exams are in july/Aug so I'll be busy until then. I can't work in my field without passing :(

I'm heading to London this weekend :):) so so excited!! Already booked in afternoon tea and a drinking session at the local pub!

Did you accept your job offer?

Oh god I want to head home so bad. Miss family and friends. Can I pls sneak in your luggage my Ap has not arrived yet so perhaps I could disguise myself as a coat or something lol.

How long do you plan to stay for?

Yeah best to pass the exams first and give yourself a better chance of getting the job you want.

My job starts Monday suppose to go see hr on Thursday to complete paper work etc.

Welcome to American work life my hubby said. From here on you work work work and work some more lol.

Hope life is not just going to be work work.

  13. Wow Nurseling we really are just a stone away..lol..We buy our international groceries at International Farmers Market that is along your road, baking and other stuff at Krogers, my hubby lunchmeat and milk etc at Publix and meats and other stuffs at Costco ( that's one of his complains sometimes 4 grocery stores in a week..lol..). I know I'm a little bit crazy as to where to buy certain stuffs :-) We are in one of the neighborhoods along Oakdale Road off Highland Parkway and South Cobb Road.

Im sure you will do great in your exam. I was a bit nervous when I took mine too. Sign questions definitely the same you will ace that and you will do the same for the other part

Wow I know where your talking about. Am always at the farmers market it's healthier than buying veg and fruit from publix. Like you we do the farmers market and krogers for things that aren't veggie and fruits.

Isn't it a small world we live in. Imagine we just down the road from each other.

  14. Hey all, sorry haven't been around. Had a friend visiting NYC so have been so busy touring around.

Congrats to everyone who got the ead and ap! Awesome news.

I have both, however my AOS status hasn't changed from acceptance since mid Jan...NYC is super super slow :(

    Hey topoftherock

Looks like New York is slow just like Atlanta. We have already accepted we are in it for the long haul to do AOS interview. Oh well EAD and AP will suffice for now. Any news on Job yet? Or your traveling back to England first before jobs?

  15. I don't know how it is in Georgia, but in New York every single question on the test was word for word from the official driver's ed booklet with the rules and practice questions. When I took the test, I just breezed through all 20 questions in 3 minutes as I pretty much knew them by heart.

    Hey Vbtwo

Really hope your right read the Manuel but been doing more practicing questions that I found online for Georgia. Hopefully I pass it the first time.

  16. HAHAHA! You are correct. I always threat him no food if he complain one more time but he will proceed on teasing me more..lol.. He has hard time understanding why I need to read all labels or check all parts of an celery

Do not worry about the test they are almost identical to the practice test. Actually 3 of the practice test sign questions came out in my test. Its two parts exam one for general driving/road/traffic rules (I forgot the name of the category) and part 2 is the sign questions, each part has 20 questions a total of 40 questions. I got the sign questions perfect but missed 1 for the general questions, this part is more tricky some you can't find in reviewer but its the basic road rules; some answers were very obvious.

I'm in Smyrna too, town of Vinings. Right now we trying to get pregnant so looking for job is not a priority but I might try to look for part time one if I really really get bored..lol..so far enjoying the housewife role and destroying our front and back yard..lol..Its good to finally just be home. Work back home burnt me out.

    Well hello neighbour

I am just at spring road side right next to winnings as a matter if fact we are looking to move to the vinnings just cos I liked the houses and the area better. That is so cool that we are neighbours am at jasmine apartments right now.

Yes the driving seems easy getting a passing score so far with practice every day I just hope the same questions come up lol.

  17. Sure do Nurseling. Last time we check takes at least 9months before green card issued to Atlanta filers. You are right EAD is most important at this moment. We had been waiting for that, my driver's license had expired together with my I-94. I just hope EAD is enough for the DDS to renew my license. I need it to be able to go about without waiting for my husband to drive me around. He has been complaining about it :ranting: ..lol..especially that it takes more time for me to do shopping (even groceries only). I guess most men do not really have much patience when it comes to shopping.

Haha tell me about it. Most men don't like going grocery shop with women cos it's a long process my husband is the same. He has of course stopped moaning cos he doesn't want me giving him what for when he opens his mouth lol.

I like to take my time especially when I know the food I may be buying could potentially kill me lol. Have to read the label and ingredient in everything I buy too scared of getting ill here in this country so much processed and toxins in the food.

Yes Atlanta is a long waiting time. Oh well at least we can work while we wait.

I been doing the practice tests for Georgia online to go sit the computer test next week. So far so good hopefully the real test is similar to the practice.

Am in smyrna where abouts are you? You found a job yet?

  18. Hi Nurseling

Just an observation how different USCIS work despite us living in same place (Atlanta). You see, I am looking at your timelime, I had my biometric a day after you did yours and never requested for expedite. I been receiving text and email updates for each changes on application status up to Initial review but last Friday it moved right away to Card Production. I did not received text nor email update on this one. Did not requested for expedite either. Looking at this changes I assumed that my card was in production already before yours, which is odd. I was expecting that your card will be in production ahead of me. Nevertheless, I am happy that our card now in production. Just mind boggling that it shows us in same office work is not done on a first come, first serve basis. Cheers!

    Hey Atlcat

You so right. I wonder how they distribute the work load. So strange. Lol.

I may not even receive a tracking number since that seems to happen to some people. I guess I will just keep a eye out for the mail.

As for being in the same office boy are in for a long haul with Atlanta regarding green card interviews they have a huge backlog. I estimate we are looking at towards the end of the year lol. I am not too bothered as long as my EAD turns up I am good for now. Let us know when you get yours.

    :)

  19. After you get the Approved message, you'll get another update within a week that the card is being mailed or an approval letter has been mailed. And Usually within a day or so you get a tracking number. We never got the tracking number but 3 days later, via USPS priority mail, the card was in our hands. So all in all you should - Shuold - have the card in hand in about a week to 10 days.

    Thanks R&Ijourney

The message the sent today was that it was in production. Isn't it strange how everyone gets different messages. I take it I will get another with tracking number in a few days or not as you said you just got yours in the mail with no tracking lol. My job said they will give me 3 days from the 14th to produce the EAD. It should arrive before then.
