I have a friend who is here on a tourist visa but she gave birth and didn't have money for hospital bill so they applied for medicaid. She said someone told her it's going to affect her AOS. Is there a way having a child with medicaid deny someone AOS?

I just want to quickly say a big thank you for all the support & advise you all gave me during my journey. They really help me through the filing & eventual immigration to the U.S. I currently have one little issue I need advise on. I'm still yet to receive my green card, I filed the i90 for a replacement card when I came in because I never received my green card. Scheduled an info pass & during my visit USCIS said I'll get a 10 year green card & stamped my passport with a temporary i55 stamp. I intend to travel back home by February & want to know if I can travel with the temporary stamp on my passport without issues. I will renew the stamp again if I don't get my green card before the date of my intended travel date.

How are you all doing? I don't want to bore anyone with a lengthy note so here is my problem/challenge. Was married to my US citizen spouse in Feb 14th of 2013, POE on Feb 17th 2015. At POE the guy canceled the CR1 & wrote IR1 and duly stamped it. Three months later I didn't get green card only to call USCIS & was informed it was sent to my spouse's previous address which was different from the address I gave during POE. Was told I would pay $450,applied electronically & did my biometrics on July 2nd 2015. On my passport they put a stamp with work authorization valid till July 2016 but on same page it was stated as a CR1 whereas I came in after our second anniversary which was duly noticed by the DHS during POE. Queried why it was a CR1 written the lady said that's what's on the system & advised me to schedule an info pass which I did & my appointment is 13th July 2015. Is there a way I can have this discrepancy sorted out? And lastly, how long will it take for me to get a hard copy of the green card in the mail & can I travel with the temporary I551 stamp in my passport???

ITS BEEN A WHILE I CAME HERE BUT WILL NEVER FORGET HOW HELPFUL THIS FORUM HAS BEEN FROM THE BEGINNING OF MY JOURNEY TILL DATE. YOU GUYS ARE AN ASSERT THAT MONEY CANNOT BUY. OKAY HERE AGAIN I'VE COME WITH A CONCERN. I'VE BEEN HERE FOR MORE THAN FOUR MONTHS WITHOUT HAVING MY GREEN CARD MAIILED AND WHEN I CALLED USCIS I WAS INFORMED BY A VERY RUDE TIER TWO REPRESENTATIVE THAT MY CARD WAS ACTUALLY MAILED TO A PREVIOUS ADDRESS OTHER THAN THE ONE I PROVIDED DURING MY PORT OF ENTRY. STRANGE ENOUGH I MADE SEVERAL CALLS TO KNOW WHERE IT WAS WITH NO REASONABLE EXPLANATION. FINALLY I HAD NO OPTION THAN TO APPLY FOR A REPLACEMENT CARD, DID THAT EARLIER THIS MONTH AND JUST GOT SCHEDULED FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR JULY 2, 2015. WAS EXCITED ABOUT GETTING TO DO THE BIOMETRICS ASAP BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG IT MAY TAKE AFTER BIOMETRICS AND WHEN AM I SUPPOSED TO PAY THE $450? I WOULD BE GLAD IF SOMEONE WHOSE BEEN IN A SIMILAR SITUATION OR HAS AN IDEA ABOUT THIS PHASE OF IMMIGRATION TO KINDLY SHARE SUCH WITH ME.

ONCE AGAIN I WOULDN'T HAVE MADE AN INFORMED DECISION WITHOUT YOU ALL! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

Finally got hold of USCIS and was informed they sent my green card to our previous address on April 17th and when I visited the said apartment the lady living there said she never got any such mail. Went to the local post office to check if it was still there & as usual I didn't get any positive news. USCIS said its not been returned so I'll have to pay for another one to be issued. Was so devastated over USCIS BS and silly mistakes. The guy that picked up said it may take between 3-6 months to get a new one! I'll need some help on what to do and possible time frame. Thanks

I don't know if she paid it thru the ELLIS website but she said something about pay.gov just want to know if this is the kind of email you get when payment is successful. I on my own tried to register on the ELIS website but couldn't as it states that my alien number already exist. But she said she didn't register anything when she paid the $165 or so which is very confusing. Reason I'm trying to get this all sorted out is cos I don't want to do it at the last min. Who should I call? Home land security or who? Any number I can reach them on? All these processes just kinda frustrating I POE Feb 18th 2015

Your response and link was very useful, was in Kerville where I went to apply for SSN and was so frustrated with what the lady said. Will go to San Antonio next week and see what I can do about the SSN. Also, the officer told me I will be getting an IR1 and changed it in the appropriate section in the visa and also wrote it in the stamp section, does this mean when my green card comes I will be getting a card valid for ten years? I plan to go to SSN office in San Antonio soon. Whats your take on that???

Greetings to everyone on here especially those going through the long wait to get their petitions approved and waiting for NVC etc, its a very long hard wait but keep the faith. I got to the US on Feb 17th, couldn't inform ya'll because I couldn't get access to my personal email (all thanks to yahoo) and thus couldn't log on. But I finally got through today, yipee!!! Anyways I have a problem, I still don't know if we ticked the section on ELIS for SSN and I have been to the local SSN office to apply for it but was stunned by what I was told. They said they can't issue me a SSN because the visa on my passport has expired, I have been here for almost 3 weeks now & green card has not been sent. Tried to explain to the SSN officer that the visa was just for me to come to the US but all that didn't help at all. I am here & can't do anything, tired of sitting at home all day watching TV and getting annoyingly fat. I need to go out there & look for a job which I can't do without a SSN. Even get a drivers license is tired to me having a SSN & I just feel really frustrated. What can I do? How do I get through this huddle? I thought it wise to share my problem with you guys because you offered me the best suggestions and advise during my immigration process which was a huge success. I count on you again to lead on what next to do.

Picked up my visa yesterday from the collection center, very excited but have some concerns I wanna share. My visa status says CR1, if I make plans to leave after out anniversary and I get to the US will they give me a 2yrs or 10yrs green card? Anniversary date is 14th Feb and my flight is 16th.

Merry Xmas Ya'll!!!

Dropped my passport yesterday and was told to pick up my visa Monday or Tuesday. My anniversary will be in Feb 14th and was thinking if I should wait till after Feb 14th and travel 15/16th so I can qualify for the IR1 visa as the CR1 visa has a lot of issues associated with it. What do you guys think? I was very happy after leaving the embassy and even the gory experience I suffered in the hands of armed robbers in Mile 2 on my way back to the hotel around past 8pm couldn't make me sad. Those miscreant smashed the Window beside me and robbed me while everyone cared less. My desperate scream for help was ignored by other motorists and though they took my bag which contained just clothes, cologne and few things I was able to hide my phone beneath the drivers seat, thus am able to message you guys. Smart me huh??? Lol... Now I can cruise into 2015 with confidence! lol

Greetings to all VJ members.... I got a call from the embassy today and was told to submit my passport by Monday next week. Just passport only, no other doc was requested. Has anyone been through this before? I've been on AP after my interview in September and got a visit earlier this month. Your kind response will be most appreciated.

I had my interview in Sept 5th 2014 and was placed on Administrative Processing and recently my application was updated 3 times 6th, 13th and 19th, does that mean I'd be getting an approval notice soon? I did fill the contact sheet though with info of a couple of friends and relatives but they've not contacted anyone of them yet. What do I expect?

Will be glad to get response from people who's been through this phase before.

My interview took place on 5th Sept & it went quite well. CO asked couple of questions ranging from how we met to what spouse does for a living, about my kid & if she's traveling with me etc. Long story short,he handed me a paper which requested info of relative & friends & after filling this he handed me a paper indicating I'd undergo Administrative Processing and stuff. The red flag here is US spouse is older. Everything else looks pretty okay. What should I expect? Will the people on that list be contacted or its just a normal procedure? Anyone been through this page before can please advise. Kept checking the ceac.state.gov website & status was updated 12th Sept 2014. Any useful unfo/advise would be much appreciated.

I'VE PAID ALL PROCESSING FEES (AOS/IV)RESPECTIVELY IN APRIL OF 2014 AND FILLED AND SUBMITTED MY DS260 FORM ON THE 13TH OF APRIL BUT TILL DATE I'VE NOT GOTTEN THE CASE COMPLETE NOTIFICATION YET!!! I'VE SENT SEVERAL EMAILS TO NVC AND THEY NEVER REPLIED. JUST TWO DAYS AGO MY US CITIZEN SPOUSE GOT A LETTER INFORMING HER THEY TRIED SENDING ME A PARCEL & IT RETURNED UNDELIVERABLE. I'VE RECEIVED LETTERS IN THE SAME ADDRESS MONTHS AGO SO I WONDER WHY THEY WOULD ASSUME MY ADDRESS HAS CHANGED. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO GET FROM NVC BEFORE INTERVIEW?
