  1. Hi,

I am posting this for a friend, she got her NOA1 on 7/1/2015, Biometrics done on 7/28/2015. She is still waiting for approval. My question is she has two receipt # on her NOA1, is this normal?

One of the receipt # is for I751 and another for CRI89 on the same letter. The I751 receipt # does not exist when checking case status online, but the CRI89 receipt does exist and it says "On July 1, 2015, we received your Form CRI-89, Petition to Remove Conditions of Permanent Resident Status Received.....".

Is this normal when applying ROC?

This is the case for me, as well. Can anyone confirm if this is normal?

  2. Hi everyone! I just joined recently in this community, I just have a question, any information would be a great help. I am from the Philippines. I got here in the United States last September 2013 using the B1/B2 visa. It expired after a month. This January 30, me and my fiancé is getting married, he is an American citizen based in California. I plan to adjust my status right away I just don't know where to start? What are the forms and will I have a problem since my visa expired 3months before we get married? Thank you very much in advance..

    Mariz

Did you plan to marry BEFORE you came to the United States? If yes, then you can get in trouble with the USCIS and sent back home without being able to come back for 10 years or more.

However, if you decided to get married AFTER you came to the US, then you can get married and file for the Adjustment of Status following this guide very carefully:

My wife and I did this and she now has her green card. You have to have patience because the process can take many months. Good luck!

  3. My spouse applied for a SSN while she had her EAD at the beginning of last month, but due to the government shutdown it still hasn't arrived. However, she now has her green card.

Do we have to do anything now that she has her green card?

Also, is it possible to obtain her social security number now (not the card, just the number) so we can use it? I've read on here that some people go to their local office and obtain it, but I'm not sure what to ask when we get there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  4. My POE was on the 8th August, I waited for some weeks hoping my SS# would arrive but it didn't. The first thing that I received through the post was my green card. I went to the Social security office on the 17th September and applied for SS#. Was told it could take up to four weeks as they need to do checks on my alien status. Three weeks have now gone by so I just called the toll free number. The lady on the phone checked on my SS# status and said they still haven't heard back from homeland security so I should wait a few more weeks. This is getting beyond a joke!!! I need to take my driving test and can't do so until I have SS# in hand.....I'm starting to get somewhat peed off with all of this......

Did you call the 1-800-772-1213 hotline for Social Security? The person with whom I spoke said they did not have access to pending applications.

When my wife and I stopped by my local social security office the officer turned us away and said that due to the shutdown they could not check on the status of pending applications. We applied for the card on September 9th and haven't heard anything.

We are desperate to get my wife's social security number as she is applying for jobs and some potential employers have requested the number during the screening process. We don't even need the card right now (which they're currently not issuing due to the shutdown), we only need the number. Does anyone know if it's possible to obtain the number during the shutdown?

  5. ok probably another dumb question, but here goes..

Ive got a supplemental sheet to list the 5 years of residence because we've moved so much and it doesnt fit. But some months don't match up so i wonder if i should just leave it, change the dates, or try to make something up. Like for instance, when i moved back to sydney for a while, i left one residence in the USA on 07/2009 and then moved into the next residence in Australia on 09/2009. During that time i was flying back to Sydney, and sleeping where ever i could untill i could find a new place, like my sister's, my boss' house etc.

Same for my spouse's form. We'd move out of somewhere and shed stay at her parents for a month or something before flying back to Australia to move in..

So is this going to be a big deal or should i just write a note under it explaining that? or try to put everywhere i ever stayed for more than a day... yikes..

Did you have a permanent address that you maintained during the gaps? I had a similar gap while moving back to the US from China, so I listed my parents' address since that's where I was having my mail, such as bank statements, sent to.

  6. My wife's EAD was supposed to arrive yesterday, but the USPS tracking states:

"Mis-Shipped. Your item was misrouted by the shipper. The error has been corrected and every effort is being made to deliver it as soon as possible."

Hopefully we'll receive it in the next couple days...

On a higher note, nearly 7 weeks after receiving a "Testing and Interview" I-485 status update, our interview is scheduled for the 25th of September. Finally. :)

  7. Can someone share exactly what we should take with us for the interview.

I dont think its anywhere on this forum.

A guide/rundown list of what everyone takes with them.

Time to start putting all that in order.

From what I've read some people bring a copy of their entire application packet, and also bring original documents like passports, birth certificates, etc. and their respective copies.

You'll also want to bring any evidence like copies of joint lease agreement, joint bank account, photos, etc.

The interview letter should provide information on anything else you should bring.

My EAD card has been mailed

    I just got the update.

    Sweet!

    *updates timeline*

    Nice! Making progress.

  8. I got really excited when my status changed to 'testing & interview' little bit over a month after filing. I thought it will be a matter of days (no RFE either should speed up the process). Then days changed into weeks... I called after 30 days but nothing could be done. I was told it's still within processing limits. I started doing some research about my local office and I realized in Hartford, CT it takes about 2 months until the interview is scheduled. This calmed me a bit. I just knew what to expect and tried not to get too worked up about it.

I know it is hard seeing other people get their interview date after only few days in 'testing & interview' step. Try to keep yourself busy. Read reviews of your local office.

    Good luck with everything.

    Hi exogenesis,

The Denver office can be slow. See my timeline.

    Best,

    BB

Thank you both for your replies. I was starting to get worried, but it seems the Denver office is just slow at scheduling interviews. I feel better knowing that scheduling times can vary greatly from office to office, so this case isn't that unusual.

Thankfully the EAD/AP are approved, so we know we're making progress. :)

Best of luck to both of you.

  9. Yes, I checked the reviews. Nothing alarming there. I guess there is nothing left, but to wait and see what happens.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you'll be approved soon.

    Hi discoverusa,

I noticed in your timeline that you received a "testing and interview" status update for the I-485 on May 22 but did not receive an interview date until nearly two months later, July 18.

I'm curious, did you contact the USCIS after 30 days from receiving the "testing and interview" update, or did you just wait it out? I'm currently in a similar position - I received a "testing and interview" status update on July 8th but have yet to receive an actual interview date over 5 weeks later. I wonder if the Denver office is just really slow or if I should be concerned.

    Thanks for your time.

  10. Thanks Guys!!!

the text came at 7:46am.. rather early.

**Funny story, i got into a mild disagreement with the wife before she left for work.. so she had been calling my phone which i was ignoring. The text buzzed and i thought it was just another attempt from her. I just got up to confirm it was her before ignoring it again lol. Needless to say, the text smoothed all arguments and disagreements almost instantly. content.gifcontent.gif

Haha, that's one way to resolve to a disagreement. biggrin.png

  11. Nothing either, Today it's been 43 days since USCIS received my applications. I-485 still on acceptance, and EAD/ ap on initial review no change since June 24,ClockWatch2.gif

The wait is definitely not fun. Now that it's been 61 days since USCIS received our applications, we're anxiously awaiting any updates.

Receiving the "Testing and Interview" status update on July 8 got our hopes up for a speedier than usual process, but that was 29 days ago and still no interview date. -_-
