  1. It doesn't matter when your letter was dated or what it says, other than get your instructions here http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

Step 1 - submit a DS-160 as of today. If you didn't mail prior to today, then you only do DS-160. There is a link to it in the right column. If you mailed before today, then the other forms are fine.

Step 2 and 3 - Gather documents and book a medical exam. Once you have a police certificate you can attend the medical. Once you have all the documents gathered (birth certificate, I-134 from fiancé, police certificate, etc) and a date for the medical, you can fill out the DS-2001 that basically says "I have all the documents in hand and I am ready when you are". They ask you to include a cover letter with it telling the date of your medical and wedding date if known. That is to help with scheduling only. They don't ask for proof. They will try to accommodate those with an earlier wedding over one that is say next February. The cover letter is a great place to communicate any special requests like --

I need to get the kids in school and would love the visa by Sept 1 if possible

I will be out of the country and need an interview after Nov. 1

I wish to bring my fiancé to the interview. please add his name to the list.

---that kind of requests. It is very hard to contact them, so say your needs in the cover letter.

Once your medical results and DS-2001 reach them (whichever is last) then expect at least 4 weeks before they actually assign an Interview.

This is what has caused so much confusion. Please read bullet number 3. Some of us got a letter stating to fill out the old forms. It's created so much confusion amongst us all.

Visa applicants must submit a completed DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application for all nonimmigrant visa categories, including applicants applying for K visas.

NOTE: For K visa cases in process at a U.S. embassy or consulate, the DS-160 is not required when, prior to October 7th, 2013, one of the following situations exist:

    • The K visa applicant is already scheduled for an interview.
    • The K visa applicant has already been interviewed and has been requested to submit additional documentation or is pending administrative processing.
    • Petitioners have already submitted a valid, signed, unexpired DS-156, DS-156K and/or DS-230 or received instructions to do so.
  2. I got a letter from the London embassy today to say they received my approved petition for the fiancee visa. It also has my case number on so as soon as my police report arrives I can book the medical.

Will I get another letter with forms to fill out? I am confused because I have been reading that people got a packet with forms to fill out.

My letter says to check out http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html for more information but I am still confused about what forms I need and if they will send them.

If I only need to fill out DS-160 then that will be easy and straight forward!

what is the date on your letter? what are the instructions

GO TO THE WEBSITE. THEY NO LONGER SEND PAPER FORMS. HOPE THIS HELPS smile.png

Some simple communication on the site could have pre-warned us all without causing anywhere near as much confusion and lack of clarity!

I had my medical last week, will send off all the old forms tomorrow with the confirmation page of DS-160 and DS-2001, but with a detailed cover letter explaining why.

WE'VE AGREED TO DO THE SAME. MY FIANCE CONTACTED THE EMBASSY WHICH DID NOTT GIVE HIM MUCH HELP THAT'S WHY I CAME ON HERE. SEEMS LIKE WE ARE ALL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. BUT I THINK IT'S BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY.

  4. The travel.state.gov site now is clear that DS-160 is for K-visas.

    But then it says:

My advice would be to do exactly what they request - i.e. complete DS-160 & DS-2001, but also send in the completed old forms (DS-230 pts i&ii, DS-156 DS-156k, and DS-157).

I had them all ready to send this afternoon and then double checked the site and noticed the update, so I think I may as well send the completed forms anyways! Worst case scenario they shred the old forms, anything other than that, you have covered all your bases.

I think I'm gonna do the same. These changes have created so much confusion. Btw, have you scheduled your interview yet and if so, have you had your medical exam already

  5. I sent in all my paperwork last week with the old forms. Sounds like if they were sent in before 7 Oct, you are ok with the old forms. Looking at the website for instructions on packet 3, it hasn't even fully updated the content as it says "on receipt of the ds 230 etc..they will schedule interview". I wouldn't worry too much as your instructions were for the old forms.

unfortunately we havent' sent in the form in yet because the medical exam is not until friday. So should I still send the old forms?

  6. The London UK embassy states the following:

    The Forms:

DS 230 Part 1 & II, DS 156, DS 157, DS 156K are now replace by form DS 160

Ok new forms are now required post NOA 2 for packet three.

    with these exceptions:

Visa applicants must submit a completed DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application for all nonimmigrant visa categories, including applicants applying for K visas.

NOTE: For K visa cases in process at a U.S. embassy or consulate, the DS-160 is not required when, prior to October 7th, 2013, one of the following situations exist:

    • Petitioners have already submitted a valid, signed, unexpired DS-156, DS-156K and/or DS-230 or received instructions to do so.

My confusion is that we received our letter on Sept 10th instructions us to do the DS -156, DS 156K/ and or DS 230

    Please help
