  1. I know that each state is different - but I'm wondering if people have been able to get a marriage license with only a passport and visa.

In Michigan, starting this week, they are requiring a SSN to get a marriage license. He is arriving in the US on Sept 1st and we will marry on Sept 30th - not enough time to get a SSN then wait for a marriage license.

I'm being told by the person at the county building that we will be ok if I just write on the form that he's not eligible for a SSN - that does NOT give me a warm fuzzy.

More #######. Over one hurdle on to the next!!! :hehe:

l handed mine in at the interview and he opened it up looked at it drew red circles around some of the wording and put it into the file with the rest of my stuff.

  3. Congratulations on the ease of the interview and for getting a 'human' officer. :) Do you feel the lawyer was worth the money looking back? Do you know what you had prepared?

    Thanks for sharing!

with the lawyer we had filled out most of the paper work so he gave us a cut rate. do l think it was easy with the lawyer yes , l didnt have to show any thing , cos he had it all in a file and plus both the interviewer and the lawyer were from the same country , so they were doing more talking than they were to us. oh yes l know what l had prepared .

hi l had my A.O.S appointment on the 4th april in orlando. we arrived 45 min b4 the appointment , because we had to meet our lawyer there. we took seat and waited about 30 min pass our appointment time. they called us in we shook hand and he told us his name. he then swore us in and we had to show some id. he then went thru the file he had on us and ask us for some paper work and it was at that moment , our lawyer handed him a file with that in, he read thru that and made sure he put the paper work in order. he then ask me some questions from the i485 which l replied no to and then he ask me where l was born and what suburb that was in. he then told he was going to ask me a question that he hoped l would know the answer to. and l was a bit worried then. the question was what country has the biggest population of english speaking people. now l had to think and my 1st thought was the usa and then l thought no it got to be london and as l was about to say it he told me the answer. it was india. he was joking around with me. at that point he told he was going to approve my A.O.S and he left the room with my passport and came back with a stamp in it. my eye lit up and l had this big smile on my face. finally living in limbo was over. our lawyer told us that orlando was the best place to go , because they are very friendly there and l will say that the guy who interview us was a really nice person. l cant tell ya how much l was walking on cloud nine for the rest of the day. all the stress and running around has really paid off. there was 1 thing he told me b4 l left and that was he hoped that l would go on and become a citizen in 2 years and 9months and that is some thing l plan on doing. l would just like to wish the rest of u good luck and l hope this information helps some of u out there. the whole interview took 30 mins. take care everyone :P

  5. :P hi l had my medical done in the usa and l went in thinking u were going to see a doctor but all l saw was a person that gave me a tb test ,which was negitive and they took some blood and then gave me a needle , l cant remember the name of it but l have had it b4 . u know the 1 they give ya if u stand on a rusty nail. Now l have to go back on wed and get the sealed envelope. l was just wondering , if they find any thing wrong in the blood work do they tell u when u go pick up the envelope or do they tell u at the interview?
