Thanks everyone for the input. We ended up using regular wire transfer. The only fee charged was at the initiating bank ($120). Took 2 business days for the money to show up on my US account. Easy with no headache.

Not necessarily. Most US banks have on set fee for international transaction ($15-45). Foreign banks may have whatever fees they chose to impose on the transactions they initiate.

Yes. So far regular wire transfer is the most viable option. Only about $150 fee to get the whole amount wired. Just looking for options and opinions.

Already talked about details. The money is from private party - my parents sent as a gift. No need to claim anything on taxes if under 100K. Unfortunately Xoom does not work in Belarus, where money is being sent from.

What is the best way to transfer money (50-60K) from Eastern Europe? Not trying to launder anything. Money is from selling property there.

Just got a notice in mail as well. Transferred to Nebraska Service Center. The interesting part is that now its impossible to track and see the processing time, because NSC does not routinely process I-751.

We are overthinking it way too much. Our cases were sitting without movement for over a year. Now its finally being processed. Even if there is an interview - I don't see any issues with it, but I personally think the reason for transfer is the extreme backlog. So transferring it will expedite the processing. Stay positive, we almost there!

Same here. Appointment went fast and easy. Officer looked at the green card, extension letter and stamped the passport.

When is the good time of day to try to schedule an INFOPASS? The letter expires March 7 and every time I try to schedule an appointment - nothing is available.

So my wifes extension letter expires in mid March and she is planning to travel to her home country in mid-February for family reasons. Do i go to INFOPASS to get the stamp in her passport extending it or where?

Hello. SO i want to throw this question out there for whoever can help. I am a USC, and recently got my parents their green cards. They are coming to settle down with me this summer. I would like your opinions and resources on the following subjects:
1. Medical/Dental Insurance.
2. Any (if any) potential retirement options (if any can be transferred)

How would i add myself and my wife to the that list? We are January filers and still waiting.

So i am really confused here.
My I-130 for both of my parents was approved and the case is now in the NVC. I already paid all the fees. And this is the point where i don't know what to do next. Do i need to fill out my Affidavit of support and send it to NVC? Or do i need to send it to my parents so they could keep it and send it whenever they will be done collecting the police certificate, medical docs etc.?
Overall it would be really nice if someone would made a detailed list for I-130 for the parent.

IR-5 has not been approved yet. You hasn't even started the IR-5 application yet. By filing I-130 you just told the DHS that you have a relative in a foreign country and you would like to bring your relative to US. Now NVC will compile a packet of documents and send it to the Embassy/Consulate closest to your Mom's current location. After that the embassy will send your mother a packet of documents with instructions on how to apply for IR-5 visa. She will need to fill out some paperwork, pay visa fee and pass a medical examination. When everything is completed, she will attend the interview after which the visa should be approved and issued to her.
