  1. My husband never received a letter for his biometrics appointment! Ever since submitting the paperwork, we check the mail religiously and toss nothing. Is there someone I should call? Looking at the list, it looks like everyone go a biometrics appointment within a month of getting the NOA1. Heading into the new year and drawing closer to his extension deadline I am getting super nervous.

  2. Admittedly, I have not had a chance to scan all 50 pages of this thread...but the last few posts I've read make me feel we are in the same boat. Just realized hubby's "1 year extension" from the NOA1 is coming up in May! Seems so close and still no updates! :-(

However, I wanted to see if anyone has checked their case status on the USCIS site and had the case number not recognized??

I had this happen and it caused a major anxiety attack as when I was checking we were being hassled about the NOA extension letter's validity at Mumbai Airport by clueless check-in counter people. I did manage to speak with someone at VSC while waiting for the airline to approve hubby's travel, and they assured me if I received the letter, that all was well. And that they are just super behind (story of USCIS's life) and that the website not recognizing the case # means it just hasn't been entered into the computer yet. I feel bad for our file sitting quietly on a shelf somewhere. :-(

We eventually did get on the plane, but not until after I had to go all Crazy American and start making a scene after waiting over an hour and a half and almost missing our flight. :-)

Traveling with that letter is a hassle! Hoping this process finishes someday soon!

  3. So my husband and I have everything together to mail out his I-751 and evidences and I was coming here to update our profile and such and join the discussions once again, but now I'm seeing that for April 2015 filers, people are JUST starting to get the conditions officially lifted almost a year later?? I mean, I remember how slow it was when we started this process, but I can't believe its still like this! Good to know things don't change with USCIS I guess. :-/

So my question to any of you that have been going through this removal of conditions procedures, does this affect International travel? My husband I were hoping to go back to India and visit his family towards the end of this year. But how can he travel if his visa expires in 90 days?? I hate how they leave people in limbo like that. Should we just hold off until this is all settled and done?

  4. I am sure you know it but thought I will mention it since it occurred to me. Make sure you include Mom's W2, employment letter, pay stubs etc. along with her I-864A.

Yes, we have included all as per the I-864a instructions. She does not have employment letter but we have done 6mos previous paystubs, W2s and corresponding tax transcripts along with birth cert, drivers license and marriage certificate to prove relationship to my father, the co-sponsor with I-864 to her I-864a.

Hubby does not need appointment to turn in the documents, just says to turn in as soon as possible. So he will submit it as soon as FedEX delivers it. :-) I'm going to post the interview review as soon as this part is complete so I can do it all at once.

  5. Thanks for sharing! Urgent question!!!!! Could you please tell me, if I understood correctly, your dad filed I-864a, but now the IO asking your mom to file I-864a too? Do your mom and dad file joint tax return? I'm asking, because my husband's brother also filed I-864a for me, so does his wife have to file I-864a too?

I am the primary, so I filed I-864 and my Dad is co-sponsor so he was required to file I-864 since our incomes are seperate.... we each file our own tax returns. My dad files joint tax return with my mom so they are now requesting the I-864a from her. Even though I had asked NVC several times and they told me, "no need". I would say if a co-sponsor files a joint tax return, the I-864a would be necessary for the spouse on the return.

  6. Well that stinks! But it doesn't sound like too much longer of a wait for you guys. We are scheduled for Mumbai June 18th! What questions did he get asked?

Yeah I don't think it will be too much longer. Just wishing I had listened to my instincts about sending in that I-864a rather than listening to NVC. :-(

Hubby's head was kind of reeling after the interview, so I couldn't get clear answers about the questions out of him...But I'll be chatting with him again in the morning so I'll get all the details then once he's had time to process everything and I assure him that we're taking care of things on my end. :-)

But so far, my advice is just to practice the sample questions you can find on here...thats all we did and he said it was an easy interview. Try to think like a scrutinizing embassy officer. Will be back with more updates soon!

  7. As an update: My husband just called me after his interview at Mumbai. He received 221g slip for an I-864a for my mom to complete (Dad is co-sponsor). Annoyed because NVC told me no need for the I-864a when I spoke to them several times. They took his PCC & Dad's updated I-864 as requested from our NVC case complete letter. CO told him his interview went well, and that he would not need to come back for another interview, but to just return with the missing document & his passport. So approved pending receipt of the missing document I guess?

What should his status in CEAC be? I'll be searching for other people's experience with returning 221g requested documents to see how long of a time frame we might be looking at. Anyone have any info on it?

Thanks All, I will post his complete review once we get the missing form all sorted out.

  8. My husbands interview in Mumbai was may 7 after the initial interview my husband was asked for a private interview with an american male who was rude to my husband claimed that because my husband is Hindu and I was raised catholic but I don't belong to a catholic church that our marriage is in valid how can this be the courts in India would have never registered our marriage if it was invalid he is from jetpur we married religious ceremony for respect of his family to me this is discrimination and it says so in the special marriage act of India now we are in ap . Not knowing what's going happen now

This is really frightening me. I am also Catholic and my husband is Hindu. However, we did just a standard court marriage in Mumbai under the Special Marriage Act.

I agree, the Special Marriage Act is specifically supposed to ALLOW marriages between people of different religions without either of them having to give up their religion. What right does the embassy have to say that because I was raised Catholic that I MUST belong to a Catholic church?! I put that I was Catholic on my app, but I am Non-practicing. Now I'm terrified that bad things are going to happen because I put a religion down! This is terrible!

  9. Any ideas anyone?

I'm updating my I-864 for my husband to carry to his interview in May. I was in India the first time I submitted, but have no re-domiciled to the US. So I am updating that part.

But my question is in the income. I just got hired in a temporary position for the next 6 months, I start in a few days. I will change the status to "currently employed as:....." But then what do I do for current individual income? I just have an employment letter and form stating my rate of pay. It is only an hourly position as it is a temporary position. Should I just calculate my hourly rate times 40hr week times 4 weeks times 6 months?

Or do I fill it out based on my status in 2013 since those are the taxes I just recently filed? And I have proof of those taxes in form of transcript & W2.

    Thanks for the help!

  10. Are you logging in with the beneficiary's email id ?

Just an update for anyone that may have this problem in the future or be searching for answers later on. My husband had previously applied for B2 and was denied, so parts of his information was in their system, but some was no longer current. Somehow, logging back in with updated information caused 2 accounts to be created under the same email address. We had to call USTravelDocs directly and they had to manually block one address and any others associated with the account...apparently my husband had tried a different email at another time. But doing that created problems in sending temporary passwords.

So they erased everything and created a whole new user ID and gave him the temp password over the phone. This finally worked and we have finally scheduled the appointment.

Basically email addresses just get stuck with this account and don't get replaced if you update information through the site...so if there are errors showing, its usually has to do with repeat or stuck information.

Thanks for the help tho everyone!

  12. All information and fingerprinting appointment scheduling can be found here.

    http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-iv-visaapply.asp

I'm having serious trouble with this site. My husband and I can't figure out how to schedule his biometrics. step 5 on the link you provided says to follow instructions as per your category after logging in and clicking "schedule appointment". However, the only button we see after logging in is "new application/new appointment" on the left hand column opposite the "dashboard". clicking this leads to more problems. We select visa type, etc...but then it asks for personal info. Upon completion, it says the details match an ID already in their system. Get this....its the ONE I"M LOGGED IN AS! It won't let me continue beyond this.

    I'm terrified and confused.

  13. And now we are really pissed off. This website: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-iv-visaapply.asp

says under step 5, that there is an option of proceeding based on your category. We are category 1...NVC scheduled our appointment, we just need to schedule VAC. After logging in, this never comes up! There is no option for this!

And then when we try to go ahead with clicking the only viable button on the site that even remotely applies to us, "new application/new appointment"...we get as far a profile information and it tells us the details match a profile with the same email address ID as the one I"m currently signed in with!!!! And it says if you've forgotten your password, blah bla blah...how can they have this error when I'm signed in as that exact user id?! WTH is wrong with this site?!

How is my husband going to schedule his VAC!??!?!

  14. Hello,

I'm a bit confused how to apply for the VAC appointment for my husband. We are at the ustraveldocs site and he has a login ID from his previous b2 application, so we get that far....but then we get confused once we're on the home page.

Do we just click on the new application/schedule appointment button on the left? And then just fill all the information there?

That eventually gets us to scheduling VAC...not interview right...since interview is already scheduled by NVC?

  16. Hey everyone! I just wanted to swing by and let everyone who is still keeping up with this thread that my husband's visa was approved!

To recap, I am white, he is desi, we do not have any significant age difference, this is the first marriage for both of us, we have no children, and we met in person while my husband was on a J-1 visa in the US.

The interview went very smooth. We attended together and my husband was very glad I was there to support him by his side. Overall, all staff at the New Delhi embassy were pleasant and polite. Our interview lasted about 15 minutes and the CO told us my husband's visa was approved at the conclusion of our interview.

Nothing was brought up about his past F-1 denials and they did not ask for a Thai PCC (we thought they might since he lived there for 11 months). The CO focused on his previous time in the US, the time spent with my family, his time in the UK, and my relationship with his family.

It is unreal that he will be arriving soon and no more sad airport goodbyes! dancin5hr.gif

Congratulations! Just read your embassy review...just curious...when did you get the documents back that you sent to NVC? I see that you had to hand over your PCC, birth cert and marriage cert before the interview with the CO....our originals are all in the NVC package as requested. So did you present copies or did you get the originals back prior and then hand them over again? Just confused with that part.

Congratulations again! Hoping I'll be experiencing that same "visa approved" excitement very soon!

  17. Jilly30: From your signature it looks like you got a checklist for 2013 tax transcript. How did you resolve it?

I have submitted 2010, 2011, and 2012 tax transcripts. 2013 tax return is not complete yet. I was hoping to carry a copy of the 2013 return to the interview (sometime in June probably).

Am I likely to get a checklist?

As dwheels said, no you won't get one. I just stupidly did not check closely what my joint-sponsor (Dad) included...didn't realize he also enclosed his 2013 W2...if that wasn't there we would have been fine!
