  1. I offered to make monthly payments but he said he could only accept the amount paid in full TODAY. :( and I called the credit card company and they said they wished they could settle with me but my account had already been sold off. :( I'm just feeling embarrassed and would like to make things right

  2. Thanks. This made me feel way better. Harpa, you're right. Isn't it funny that when it comes to messing with our money it doesn't seem so measly does it? I mean for a big company who's probably pursueing huge debts like $20,000 it must seem measly. Nigeriaorbust: who did you report them to? I'd like to do that but I'm not sure the appropriate avenue.

    Thanks again! :)

  3. Hi,

I need some advice. I'm losing sleep over this issue. I moved to USA 3 years ago on a work visa. circumstances arose in which I couldn't pay my canadian mastercard. I began receiving calls from mastercard but they stopped about a year ago. I've recently been married and am now a perm. resident. I received a phone call Friday from a debt collector saying that I owe them for the credit card debt ($3800) and that they can ganish my wages and sue me if I don't pay. he was a real jerk and made me very scared. He also said that they can report to american credit bureaus but I looked on the transunion and experian websites and they both said the canadian and american branches don't communicate. I guess my question is: can he really come after me here in the us for this money? Will they take money from my canadian bank account (I use it to pay my student loans)? And what is the likelihood that they will sue me here in the US over a measley $3800? Please help with any advice. My husband and my mom both say not to worry but I hate this stuff. We are not in a position to pay the lump sum and the debt collector says he won't accept monthly payments. :(

  4. Ok...back story...

My husband was/is a sponser for his brother in law (who married his sister and is a British citizen). My husband and I moved in together in May 2012 (we were engaged then). He never changed his address with USCIS and now we are filing my I485. Do you think we should send a change of address form now with the effective date May 2012? Or is this going to look sketchy since its outside the 10 day window. Should we just play dumb and see what happens! I'm so mad that he didn't handle this earlier!

  5. This is sort of a organizational question for those type A personalities out there, but what is the best way to submit the I-130/I-485 packet? In a binder? Paper clipped/binder clipped by application plus supporting docs? Staples for copies that are fronts and backs or no staple? I know its a silly question, but I don't want anything denied/sent back because I put a staple I wasn't supposed to! :)

  6. So what should I put on the I-130 when it asks how I first entered the US. Student and the asociated I94 number? or should I put my H1B I94 number? And when it asks my last entry and I94 number should I put the honeymoon return I94? See how it gets more complicated. lol I want to just put my H1B I94 card number on all of it because I feel like thats the most important one.

  7. Hi,

Ok...I'm applying for adjustment of status through marriage. I originally entered the US as a student. My I94 card said duration of stay. Then I received H1B status and received another I94 card (expires 9/22/2014). THEN my husband and I went on our honeymoon and when we returned I received another I94 card which also expires 9/22/2014. My question is when filling out the I-130 and I-485, which I94 card number to I put down? My last entry into the US was the honeymoon, which is the third I94 card. But my original status was F1 student, so do I write down that number when it asks how I originally enter the US (on the I-130 form)? Ugh!!! I know you're supposed to surrender these cards, right? I just don't think this third one has any importance because the immigration officer wasn't even really sure what he was supposed to do with it! And I already had a I94 card from my H1B status! Help!

  8. Perfect! Thank you so much! I figured it was better to just give all the information then for me to decide what was important and what was not. And am I correct to put my A# on absolutely everything in my application packet? I figure its probably a good idea.

I know I'm asking a million questions! :) I'm just excited to have found people who actually know what they're talking about and are going through the same process.

  9. I was originally in the US under F1 status, so I have a I94 card for that. I also have one for the H1B status. And now I have this other one from that officer in Miami. I feel like the last one is sort of arbitrary, but I'm pretty sure thats not my call. lol

I have an employment letter from my HR person stating the information needed. I'm thinking I'll include all 3 I94 cards. My port of entry initially was Buffalo, NY Peace Bridge, so I'm going to put that as my port of entry, rather than Miami (where we entered from our honeymoon),as I was already a temporary resident (H1B) when we entered. Does that sound correct?

  10. Thanks everyone! I'm putting together my packet and so worried that I'm missing something that will cause me to be denied or something! I didn't want to spend the money on an immigration attorney, but I kinda understand now why people do. Money well spent, I'm sure! Here's another question: as an H1B holder, I have a I-94 document. Canadians don't require visas to live in the US, so this is my only document. When we went on our honeymoon, the US immigrations officer issued me another I-94 card in miami when we returned. Do I need to submit a copy of this as well as my original H1B I-94 card? I don't want to overwhelm the person reviewing my file with too much information, but I also don't want to omit important information that could be considered as fraud. :(
