  1. Hello Lucy, I just read ur story. Although I am not going through what you are going through, I empathize with you.

I can only imagine ur frustration and fear about what the next move will be.

Moving back after all these years here and after everything you have achieved will definitely be a major life change. HOWEVER, stay positive. Pray if you believe in it. And pls never think that your job or skill is not important: every skill is!

I pray and wish that you get to stay on your job after your interview in the next few months. All the best. I look forward to hear some good news.

Cheer up! All hope is not lost.

  2. My dear Lilay, u r not alone. I also moved to the USA about 2 1/2months ago.

It has not been easy my dear. I have to stay home esp because it's winter ( almost over now) and also because I did not have a Driver's license.

My husband has been very supportive but he doesn't seem to fully understand my home sickness and loneliness. Currently, I have obtained my driver's license and plan on going back to school to further my career.

I feel better now than when I moved initially.

I also try to keep in touch with my family and friends back home.

It will get better my dear; it's just a matter of time.

  3. Hello friends, I migrated to the US about a month ago. Although my passport had a CR1 stamp in it, I entered the US after my second wedding anniversary which thus entitles me to an IR1 Visa stamp.

However I had a CR1 stamp in my passport. When I drew the immigration official's attention to it, he said it would be automatically updated in the system.

Do I have cause to worry? I just hope my GreencaRd shows IR1.

I would be glad if someone with a similar experience would shed more light. Thanks.

  4. Hello everyone. Just got back from my interview from the embassy.

APPROVED!!!! YAYYYY!!! It was unbelievable; it still does not feel real.

I was asked the following questions:

    Have you been married before?

    Do you have any children?

Have you lived anywhere outside Ghana?

When and where did you meet your husband?

How many times did you see him before you guys got married?

How many times have you seen him since you got married?

She then shows me a pic of my husband and my siblings and asks who they were.

Do you plan on working as a physician in the USA?

She then says; all is set. Thank you very much for bringing so much evidence. This is the best case I have seen since I've been in Ghana.

Then she hands over my documents to me: then says I should pick up my passport on Wednesday afternoon at 15:30.

I said thanks....and she handed me the blue slip...

    Yayyy....I'm so excited.

Thanks so much everyone on VJ. The information here is so amazing.

    Dwheels and Darnell good job!

I'll post a more detailed review on my country portal (GHANA).

    All the best everyone.

  5. Hello everyone, I have a question concerning my police report.

I happen to have changed my name after hubby and I got married.

The first police report I sent to the NVC was in my married name.

However, I read on one of the forums that one embassy asked for a new police report done in the maiden name of the beneficiary before a visa was issued.

In view of that, I went to the police headquarters to request for a new one which I would eventually need for my upcoming interview. I drew their attention to the fact that had changed my name. All they did was to look at my gazette to prove the change of name and tell me the police certificate would be issued in my married name.

Anyone with a similar experience? Or anyone successful with a police report in her married name?

I would appreciate any help on this issue. Thanx.

  6. Hello everyone, just thought I should provide those doing medicals in Accra Ghana with information on the cost of medicals.

Akai House: GHc811. This covers only the first shot of vaccinations. You will have to pay for subsequent shots.

Holy Trinity: GHc790. This also covers first shots of vaccinations.

You need to submit appointment letter, passport and 3-4 passport photographs for at the facility.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

    All the best everyone.

Note: Cost covers medical exam as well as first shot of vaccinations

  7. Here I am. Keep your eyes on your email box if you don't want to call NVC. They have been scheduling October Interviews since August 28th. I have added you to the spreadsheet. Come on over to the Interview group. Congratulations.

Hiya Dweels76, thank you so much . I called the NVC and got my interview date (27th Oct, 2014). I have updated my information. Catch you on the October Interview thread,

  8. Hello everyone, hope we are all doing well to hang in there as we wait for our cases to be processed. I have a question and your help would be needed.

The NVC sent me a mail on the 22nd of August, 2014 that I had submitted all documents and that once an interview is scheduled I will be informed. Does anyone have an idea of how long i'll be waiting before the interview is scheduled? And how soon the interview will take place? Thanx.
