  1. I am planning on traveling to my Wife's home country of Peru this Christmas. I would like to remotely continue to work using a laptop and logging into my company here in the states. My question is, do I need a special work visa of some sort and if so what kind of costs should I expect to pay? Does my employer incur any fees as well from my working within a different country? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

  2. We were married under a K1 visa, applied for Ajustment of status, advance parole, and Employment Athorization all together back in November of '06. We just received the Conditional Residency Card that we will have to remove the conditional status in 2 years. The question is can my wife use just the Residency card to travel outside of the US or does she need to wait for the Advance parole card to get approved and come in the mail? The reason we ask is that on the paperwork that came with the card said that if she was planning to be out of the states for more than a year she would have to apply for special permission... which leads us to believe that she could use just this card to re-enter the US if she were to leave to country to visit family. Thanks for any help in advance.

For short visit, you will not need Advance Parole anymore. The Green card will suffice. I used Green card for short visit & was admitted back.

Just to clarify, the Conditional Residency Card she received is AKA Green Card ?

  4. My wife is from Peru and we were married in Aug this year. Her i-94 expired this past Sept. We are going to send her paperwork for the I-485 (Application To Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status), I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization), and her I-131 (Application for Travel Document) this weekend. We want to know if there is any way for her to visit her family this December or if that would be to short of a time to get the permission. If not, is there any other way we can go, legally of course? Thank you all for your help.

  5. One of the questions asks for my wifes "Nonimmigrant Visa Number", but when we look at the k1 visa stamped into her passport it only displays a "Control Number" are these numbers the same or do we need to look else where for her visa number?

Another question... " In what status did you last enter? (Visitor, student, exchangealien, crewman, temporary worker, without inspection, etc.) " Do we put k-1 or Fiance or what for this question?

Were you inspected by a U.S. Immigration Officer? - Does this refer to when she was taken aside and asked questions regarding me and her (k-1) visa upon her entry into the US?

Current Occupation ? She is a student, but is currently not enrolled in school yet. Do we put Student or place an None in the box?

what would her current Current USCIS Status be if she just came in on a K-1 Visa and we were just married?

Thanks for the help in advance.

  6. The question is: once we are married, will my peruvian wife need anything more from the government to apply as a transfer student to a US college? Would she apply as a International Transfer or regular transfer student? Would she be required to meet the F-1 visa requirements for evidence of financial support and would she need a f-1 visa as well? Thanks for any help provided.

  7. My fiancee, in Peru, has now received all her certificates required for the interview. The question is: does she need to first take them to the Office of Foreign Relations in Lima before taking them to the interview. Her paperwork did not say anything about that, but she heard from someone, at the place she was getting the certificates from, that she would need to take them there before using them outside the country. I don't know if that includes the embassy since that is considered foreign soil. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated. We tried calling the embassy.. but that is nothing but hold hold hold busy busy hold hold disconnect. Sometimes government workers just suck.

Oh and here are the documents I am referring to...

    certificado de antecedentes penales

    certificado de antecedentes policiales

    certificado de antedecentes judiaciales

And in spanish the name of the Office is

    oficina de relaciones exteriores

    Thanks again for any help.

  9. My fiance lives in peru and we are currently waiting for the our NOA2 for our k-1 visa. Her tourist visa expired mid Jan 2006. She is currently not enrolled in school as she plans to transfer her accumulated credits to a US school and it is summer break for them right now. We are thinking about renewing her tourist visa, but she is worried that if they deny her tourist visa it might affect her approval for the k-1 visa. I was not sure and wanted to know what the forum felt about this. Thank you for any thoughts on this matter.
