  1. she should go to the US Embassy and ask how to get this cleared from her record and what she should do. They should be able to advise her what to do to clear it so she can enter the us without issues. She should also ask the Australian Embassy/ Passport service to help her to clear this flag from her record. good luck

  2. Thanks everyone, will try the "walk-in" for the biometrics; Yes the appointment is for info pass, just didn't know if they issue the paper on the spot or there is a wait time and its mailed out. Don't want to put anything back and slow things up now that its all starting to move again...

Have a blessed and wonderful Christmas and New Year!!!

  3. Any help URGENT please....

I have applied for AOS and filed all 3 document sets EAP AOS & AP. My aged mother is in bad shape and looks like passing very soon so I have asked for the USCIS to expidite the AP. Can anyone tell me if I will be granted this at the interview (scheduled for Dec 31).

Also have received appointment for Biometrics for Jan 6th. Does anyone know if I ando these both t the same time and if so what happens after the Biometrics is completed??

    Thanks ( Merry Christmas everyone!!)

  4. Arrived in US three weeks ago, got married three days ago and now waiting for the marriage certificate so I can file AOS papers. Anyone got any hints that will help in regards to this and especially the biometrics. Some documents say I don't need another medical done but I am not sure what to do with the part that needs to be signed off ???

Also another subject: can I get a local drivers license easily or do I have to sit a full drivers test??

    Thanks

  5. yes. download the forms from the AFP website and fill it out. take those and a traceable envelope addressed to the AFP in Canberra to a local police station and get fingerprints done. they will send directly to the AFP for you. you can pay for the name and fingerprint check via credit card its all on the AFP forms. it takes about 3 to 4 weeks to process to do it asap.

    cheers

  6. you must have the federal police check done with fingerprints. It will cost you around $100 plus the fingerprints. on the form it asks you where you have lived and they do it for all of Australia. the name check is a waste of time and money as its unacceptable. the Feds tak around 3 to 4 weeks to process it. You go to a local police station and get finger prints done and they send them with the forms downloaded from the AFP website directly to the FEDS. YOU must supply a traceable envelope that you have addressed to the AFP in Canberra.

If you have lived anywhere else in the world for longer than a year you will need police certs done from them as well. This is the only way to do it.

    All the best

  7. Hi Guys,

Thankful to have the coveted K1 Visa in my hot little hand... have paid the USCIS Immigrant Fee via Ellis.... question..when I went to complete my profile it asked me to up load a bunch of documents.. Do I have to do this as it mentions something about changing from a non-immigrant visa so I didn't upload anything. and the instructions don't mention anything about it. So just paid the $165 and added my US address and contact details.

Second question. The concurrent filing of the next lot of paperwork.... can someone please assist me as to how to do this, forms etc and any hints to speed up the process would be HUGELY appreciated..

I am excited to have the visa and just want to begin preparation for the next step when I arrive... I know the answers may already be on the VJ forum somewhere, but if I could get some help on this it would be GREAT.... thanks so much!!

  8. any more evidence just incase you think it will be needed .

I went and took some facebook conversations receipts from engagement ring, Western union forms from past money sent.

But they never asked for any of it., but i had it just incase.

Good luck, it will go fine. They are really nice there.

Thanks Pamala, after waiting so long to get to this point its more nerve wracking than I expected! lol Thanks so much for your encouragement, really have appreciated this site and being able to connect with others going through the same prcess.... :)

  9. Hi All,

its been such a loooong wait but finally have my interview date for this Tuesday!! yay!!...and now I am a bit nervous...what do I have to take with me, the letter I received just said bring passport and envelope for sendingj passport back, I know I have to take two visa sized photos as well but what else??? any help

    would be great!

  10. just had the medical today, bit of a mission but reasonably straight forward. The sydney Doctor sends examination results directly to US Consulate, thats why you need to take the express post envelope. Then you have to keep the xrays and take them with you to interview and then have them with you when you enter the US

  11. thanks for that, feel like I havent slept for a week. Spent today at the Thai Embassy in Sydney and they were brilliant! although they also were confused about the paperwork surrounding the Thai police check. They did give me the online site of an agency that will do it for me but they require all paper work scanned and emailed. Thats fine but NSW Police will not release any fingerprints, they have to send them in hard copy directly to the agent. So sending in two ways, the documents they want scanned, and the fingerprints sent from the Police. NZ police check took about 2 days, still waiting on the Australian one though they have now said about 4 weeks. thanks for your help. Have the health check next week, that should be fun (!) then just waiting for these to documents. will keep you all posted.... almost there, just got to keep breathing...!!

  12. Hi am in a bit of a panic here. Have sent request and finger prints to AFP and they told me it could take 4 months to process!!! yikes... I would run out of time. Can anyone give me some idea how long it really takes?? Also I lived in thailand for many years before being transfered to the US on an R2 visa. Police checks would have been done at that time. I have not returned to thailand at all and the Sydney consulated indicated i wouldn need an other police check. but after numerous emails I cant seem to get them to confirm this is the case. Please can anyone help calm my nerves??? thanks
