  1. Does anyone know how to unsubscribe from receiving email updates about consulate reviews? Now that we've been approved at the embassy, I no longer need to receive these updates.

I have tried going to my settings and un-checking every email option, yet I still receive 1-3 emails per day about consulate reviews.

The emails themselves also have no "unsubscribe" link.

Any help is greatly appreciated! goofy.gif Thanks!

  2. Your instincts were correct before you listened to the others. People getting non-imigrant visas have always called for appointments. Now they request online. Not nearly the number of steps and documentation to get a tourist or student visa. A k1 is processed by the immigrant visa unit. They still assign your appointment. You have the wrong kind of appointment I believe.

Boooo. :/ I'm not sure how to cancel or change the appointment now either, with this new system. It's just all so confusing because some of the required forms say non-immigrant and some say immigrant. Do you think if he responded to the appointment email they'd be able to change it? Is there any advice you have for what we should do next?

Otherwise, how can I request the new appointment online?

Thank you for your help, by the way. :)

  3. Hello,

My fiance and I are in urgent need of help.

He had his medical on July 19th, (where we met another couple applying for the same visa), and as far as we knew, we were to wait for the embassy to contact us with an interview date shortly thereafter. Monday, August 5th rolled around, and we still hadn't heard anything. We kept in contact with this other couple, who used a lawyer for their visa, expressed to them our concern over it taking so long, and they informed us that we were to visit https://usvisa-info.com/ to alert the embassy of our readiness before they would assign an interview date. We followed the instructions their lawyer gave us: click on immigrant visa, click on English under United Kingdom, click on Transition Applicants under Help, click the Consular Section in London link, fill out the contact form for further assistance.

I explained to them that we did not fit the criteria for which this is required, but they explained that neither did they and that this was the new way to go about doing things, and that the embassy would provide us with a number to call to pay the MRV fee.

This is when things start to get confusing. We filled out that form on Monday, August 5th. Today, August 9th, my fiance received an email with an appointment with the NON-IMMIGRANT Visa Section for Friday, August 16th! We were hoping for a quick interview, but given the state of things at the moment, this gives us zero time to figure things out. Also in the email, he is told to bring the DS-160 to the interview (which he does not have) and an MRV receipt (which he also doesn't have).

Obviously confused by all of this, we rang the help number, only to be diverted to an agent with poor English speaking skills who was unable to explain any of this or help in any way.

I suppose the question I am getting at is does he have an interview Friday or not? He doesn't want to pay the fees and travel costs and take the time off work only to turn up for an appointment he is not eligible for.

Also, if he is able to attend this interview, is there a way he can pay for the MRV fees before then? And does he need the DS-160? If so, where can he find that?

If someone can help us, please please do.

    Thank you so much!

  4. Hello all! First, I'm sorry if I'm posting questions that have been answered before on other topics. I've read through several pages, and although I've found a LOT of useful information, I haven't quite been able to find the specific answers I'm looking for.

My fiance and I received our NOA2 on April 25th, after six months of waiting. Now, it's been nearly three weeks and we haven't heard anything from the NVC. I've called a handful of times, but they keep saying that it hasn't been received and that I should wait to call back until it has been 14-15 business days after the date on my NOA2, as anything before then is normal processing time.

My question is, what exactly are we waiting on from them? Another letter? Package 3 (whatever that is)? (By the way, if anyone knows what package 3 is, please share, as I have no idea.)

Also, will they schedule the medical and interview, or is there some way we should be doing that now?

    Thank you for your help!

  5. Can't help with the Netherlands bit, but as far as the UK Police Certificate is concerned no fingerprints needed and they say roughly it can take up to about 10 days to receive the certificate. However you can pay more for a faster turnaround.

Awesome, thank you! I don't think we'll need it to be expedited, but I'm glad to hear it's an option. smile.png

See this item on obtaining the NL police certificate: http://amsterdam.usconsulate.gov/immigrant_visas2.html#5

That is wonderful, thank you so much for providing this information! It won't be as difficult to obtain as I had expected. Thank you!

  6. Hello! My fiancé and I received an email on April 25th that our petition had been approved and to expect our NOA2 in the mail with instructions for what's next.

I know that in the meantime, we should be getting our paper work together, including the affidavit of support, medical history, and police certificate.

My fiancé lived in the Netherlands for one year and ten days, so it is my understanding that he will need one from there as well as from his home country, the UK. I've found how to order the UK one online, but have yet to find any way to order one from the Netherlands. Is there some way of doing this online, that someone could link me to? And what documentation is needed to order one from there?

Also, for either police certificate, does my fiancé need to have fingerprinting done? And how long does it typically take for the police certificates to come in?

Thank you! I wish you all the best. :)

  7. Tomorrow, April 22, is my 6 month mark. My timeline estimates my approval between April 29- May 6. I plan on spending the summer in Dominican Republic with my fiancé while he does everything he needs to do before returning with me. I work in education do I have summers off, but I wanted to have our wedding before returning to work for the new school year. Do you guys think we will have a June interview?? I truly hope so...

My wedding is completely done, all details, invites, decorations, guest list...I just don't have a date!!! I just want this wait over and done with. I want to get married. :"0(

The Vermont Service Center has done a handful of October filers already, hopefully you'll be next or within the next few days/weeks! If that's the case, I think you would be able to get your interview by June, because, from what I can tell, it seems that interviews are usually scheduled for 4-8 weeks after the NOA2.

  8. Sigh. After holding for 30 minutes, the tier 2 officer told me the same thing the other woman did: that they are working on July 18 cases. He also mentioned that it will probably be 60-80 days until mine is seen to, based on that information.

How bogus! Their website hasn't been updated since FEBRUARY 28 and it says there that they are working on July 18 cases. If that were the case, then surely they'd be on October cases by now! Argh. This is so frustrating. :crying:

I just called them. July 17th filler here.

Tier 2 told me "ooh You filled a service request in March 9, so wait 120 days to call us and don't bother call again."

Then when I mentionned it was 9 months I was waiting with my kid asking everyday she said "I don't have access to Your file anyway."

So in fact applying again looks like a better solution than staying in the black hole forever since now You wait 4 or 5 months max. In 4 months all I can expect is calling to hear "Do You want to fill a service request?"

How ridiculous. How is this legal?? They should be accountable somewhere! :(

  9. Follow the menu prompts to get a status update, (hit the number 1 four times, then enter your receipt number when asked), listen to what the update tells you, then hit the number that allows you to report a problem with your case. You will be put on a 1-5 minute hold, and will then be spoken to by a tier 1 representative. After giving your information to them, ask to be sent to a tier 2 officer, and they should (hopefully) send you!

I'm currently on hold, waiting for tier 2, but the officer I spoke to on tier 1 was very helpful and transferred me right away. Good luck!

  10. Grrr, I just called and asked several times to speak to a tier 2 officer, but the woman refused. She kept telling me that they're currently working on July and that there is no new information past that. I said that that information hasn't been updated since February (which is what the USCIS processing times site says) and she said that it was just updated on April 3, so I should expect mine with in the next 2-3 months. I told her that the website says otherwise, which is misleading, and that if they were processing July files in February, then mine should be coming up soon. After about 10 minutes back and forth of her basically telling me the same thing again, i.e., that she couldn't give me any updates because there were none and that they are working on July's files, I decided to drop it. I'll be trying again later, hopefully with some progress. :ranting:
