13 was my mail date. It arrived at CSC on 15. My cheque was cashed on the 20th or so I guess because of the weekend.

If you are a Canadian citizen otherwise than by descent (i.e. by birth in Canada or by naturalization), then your child born anywhere is automatically a Canadian citizen at birth. You don't need to do anything to "get" Canadian citizenship for your son, because he already has it according to Canadian law.

However, before he can get a Canadian passport or enjoy any other benefits of Canadian citizenship, he will need to first get a Certificate of Canadian Citizenship. The application is here and it is mailed to Canada to process. The application for this certificate can take a year or more to process, so if he needs to travel during this time (including to Canada), he should use his US passport. One of the tricky parts for children is that the application requires two forms of identification, one of which has the person's photo on it. Usually, for small children born in the US, their US passport and Social Security card can serve as these two forms of identification.

My son was born in America. I am a permanent resident in Florida. Is my child eligible for Canadian citizenship based on decent? Does anyone know the documents to fill out.

Our package was delivered on April 9 at VSC, but still havn't got any updates. Check is not cashed and no NOA1 or receipt letter... Hope will see some movements soon...

I'm in the same boat. I sent mine on the 13th and have't had anything move yet. There is just so much to go wrong that we can't help but think the worst haha.

I guess they have paused and will resume their paperwork soon.

Get the long form and Photocopy it. You will need it to present at your interview in MTL. You will need to send a copy of it when you arrive in the US when applying for Adjustment of Status and EAD.

I tried to find the answers in the forums already but I didn't see anything that could answer my question.

Do I write one or two checks for the Fees? $505 and $85? Or just one for $590? I remember from the K1 payments there was a trick to the total amounts too.

I had the same experience in Toronto. After being sent to secondary almost every time I had gone down to visit my fiance I was pushed through with no issues at all. I did the same thing and arrived almost 4 hours early only to be waiting around. Let me tell you how good those beers tasted waiting for my flight.

Do not fly. Absolute waste of money. Train goes right into the city and way cheaper.

I had a TN from 2012 until 2013. You have to pay taxes in the US and Canada. You get all the US tax money back after you file your US return. Don't change anything about your status in Canada. Do not cancel OHIP, but you do have to buy US insurance unless you want to fly home if you get sick or hurt. Work should provide you with details for enrolment.

Today my I-765 has been approved as per the website. I am now waiting for my EAD card in the mail.

Does anyone know if I can go to the SSN office before the card comes? Does the SSN office have a way of seeing the DHS information that I have been approved. I have all the information that would appear on the card, just not the card.

The reason is I have a job waiting for me and I just want to speed up the process any way I can.

Umm, that's not accurate advice. For CR/IR1 applicants, AOS fee is separate from the Green Card fee. Once the Consulate approves the application and the temporary is processed, you can log in and pay the Green Card fee. However, you can also wait until you receive the bill after you POE, as the temporary is good for 1 year. You won't get your actual Green Card until this fee is paid.

The member did not specify which VISA they were using. My information was for K1/2. Your tone is not appreciated when all we are trying to do is help.

You only need to pay the fee before you send in your AOS package once you are married. Don't waste your money until you are ready to begin that process. Green card fees have nothing to do with POE.

Worry about your I-94. If you are flying it will be done on-line and you may have to go to a deferred location. If you are driving make sure you get the white paper copy.

I am About to file my AOS package. Does anyone have any thoughts about the shut down and how it might effect processing?
