Oh my I'm sorry he went through that. I could imagine your worry from way over here. I am glad everything is ok!

Above answer is correct they are definitive cheaper in DR but if you need to do them here that's is fine too he will still get his visa if approved. As for AOS he will need to complete his shots here with a civil surgeon. Good Luck and Congrats!

When your Visa is approved and you pay Domex you have an option to pick it up. They have 2 locations Santo Domingo and Santiago. Depending where you are on the map is the office they will have you pick it up at. Ex: My hubby lived in Nagua and he picked it up in Domex @ Santiago about 3 days later. Good Luck.

I bought this to organize everything
That is exactly what I used an accordion binder labeled. It was light and everything was organized even though I only pulled out 10 sheets from it. They never asked for anything but pics and my Divorce Decree. Good Luck!

Very Possible. Monica and Wellington received theirs Wednesday and their interview was Monday. Maybe not the same day but it is possible to receive it with in the same week. In their case in 2 days.

DR receives your case electronically first and it will say Ready but they won't schedule interview until its received by DHL where your status date will update for the second time and they will schedule you when its your turn and they have an opening.. Be Patient. this confused me too during my process. I always emailed them and received clear info than calling DOS. Even though they share the same system the liaison at the embassy who replies knows a little more about the DR process than DOS because they are in DR vs DOS who is answering for all countries. That is if you are desperate DOS will inform you of the date as well if you call everyday.

There are few people on AP it happens. I'm so sorry it happen to you. I can tell you Iv'e seen cases on AP from 10 months 7 months it all depends. All you can do is be patient. So sorry.

A secure credit card is a good way to go. Although Capital One is great you can go to your bank and ask for one most of them offer this service. Good Luck.

Never said it was mandatory just said you do have to be unless you have a real good excuse like hardship or your sick and you will need to prove it. Just look at old Dominican cases where they didn't go and they were denied. I wouldn't chance it. They want to see it's a bonafide relationship and they ask both the questions. As a matter of fact when I was at my interview a Dominican citizen was denied cause her hubby lived in New York and he didn't show up because they thought he didn't have to. They didn't consider it "bonafide" and poor thing was upset and denied. Those our my sources.

So i wont actually be present at the interview over there? Or how does that work?
How do i know if i meet those requirements, what ARE those requirements? And what do i do if i have no previous tax history?
Sorry, I am just really nervous and trying to make sure i know things well before doing anything.
In Dominican Republic YOU DO have to be present at the interview. Each country is different but DR is one that both parties have to be present! Good Luck!

Oh wow.. well I have noticed that they have been scheduling ALOT slower and further out. Alot of December interviews and even January! I hope you hear something soon!

When you called and they told you DR received it did they receive it electronically or did DHL send it already? This confused me as well when I waited almost 3 weeks to get my interview date. If you call NVC you can ask and if it was received electronically then keep calling till they tell you they physically received the packet. Your status date should change again then your interview should be scheduled in 2 days. Let us know!! Good luck!
-
Wow I'm soooooo happy for you!!! Yaaaaaay! Things will move fast now, no that it hasn't for you!! This is great congrats!!!!!
-
They emailed it to us as well he no longer needs the physical packet everything is included in the email. The appt letter he can use for his medicals. Good Luck!

I understand you want to plan, we all did or do. Most of our fiance's have never left the country including mine. They all did just fine traveling by themselves. There are plenty of people that know he is traveling on staff and assist rather well. Besides once he is in it's not like you can be with him while they ask him questions during point of entry so you will be separated anyways. I would not take that chance on buying plane tickets because its different from every case. Our visa was issued 4 days after interview and was ready to be picked up at domex 3 days after that, but my friend Monica who was just approved had her interview on Monday and her visa in hand by Wednesday. Its all a gamble but your fiance being a man from DR will know how to fend for himself. Don't start babying him now they get used to that!!! Hope you don't get offended it's just the truth! Good Luck!

The Visa in the passport will tell you when it expires you have until then usually 6 months after medical. My husband now (Fiance then) had medical done July 15 and Visa had expiration date of January 14. Hope it helps!

I had a K1 visa and my Noa 2 said the same but they said it was a typo it was sent to NVC.

Call and after they talk about how the number is changing after Sept 6 and the automated system comes on press 1 than 0 and you will be transferred to a live person. Good Luck!
Natalie, I called that # 3 times never got anybody to answer. What option do I choose??

Call DOS!!!! NVC can be a little retarded sometimes!! I'm sure they have the case number there already! (202) 663-1225
-
I had that issues for the whole 7 months I waited! There is nothing they can do it just means whoever has your cases didn't update it in the website. If you signed up to receive it by text or email you will once its approved. If not just keep checking the site one day it will say approved. Thats what happen to me and on May 22 if finally said approved after 7 long months.
-
Yes I did do the K1 and would of been denied had they asked for the I134. Lucky there I know. Just keep faith and look for anyone willing to help co sponsor. Good luck and I'm sorry. Also moving to Nagua would be great for a minute but there you waste more money than you make!

I scanned my Noa 2 and sent it to them as well because USCIS was taking forever to send my file to NVC. Needless to say my file finally got there in 15 business days after my approval and I received a response by email from NVC regarding my scanned NOA 2 after my interview letting me know my case was in the Santo Domingo Embassy and my Misa was being issued lol. So don't expect a quick response back. Just wait it will get there sooner than you think.
-
Yes that is exactly what I was afraid of. So I will have to wait until I find a co sponsor he becomes a citizen or I get a raise. lol Whatever God blesses me with first I'm fine with it.
-
I called about this same thing yesterday. The lady at USCIS told me that I too still have responsibility of my ex-husband and to include him in the household. She also told me he could fill out and I1864 as well and include him in the earned income. I can't get a hold of him and if I could he probably would but I doubt he will make this easy. I know he is about to become a US Citizen since he is joining the Navy in November and the military expedites the process so it will be rather quick, but I really don't want to wait on doing the AOS until this happens. I'm lost.
am I ready / santo domingo
