  1. It starts like this:

"Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days...."

  2. Called the NVC today, they said my case is complete and they will schedule an interview shortly. My wife will be interviewing at the Islamabad embassy. Does anyone have any idea as to when the interview may potentially be?

Also, I know my attendance at the interview us not required, but would it help in any way? Our case has progressed fairly quickly, so I can't imagine any major issues.

Lastly, will my wife potentially receive the visa the day of the interview, or is there a waiting time?

  3. Yes, I had the same thing because I sent my AOS package first. They just have not reviewed the IV package yet. They took 14 days from the date I sent mine to review it. Nothing to worry about.

As far as the photocopies they are not necessary for the interview but you should have sent them a photocopy of everything in the IV package as well as the original.

I did send photocopies with the originals in the IV package, I just didn't keep any copies for myself. In hindsight, I should have done so.

Thanks for the response, I was panicking! So did you receive another email a few days later stating that the IV package was reviewed?

  4. I received an email today with this statement:

We have reviewed the documents which you submitted in support of an application for an immigrant
visa. Please review the information listed under each applicant's name and provide any documents
which are indicated as missing or need additional information. You must submit the required
information. Failure to provide the requested information will delay your immigrant visa interview.

    ______CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS:_________________________________
When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this
letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar
code sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the
    address provided.

    ______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________
The National Visa Center is waiting for an Immigrant Visa Application to be submitted for this case.
The Principal Applicant and any other Applicants who will be accompanying him or her to the United
States must now download and complete an Immigrant Visa Application; please visit the following
    website for instructions:
http://immigrantvisas.state.gov (click on the link for "submit Visa application and civil documents")
Please submit the Immigrant Visa Application form(s) and required supporting documents for each
Applicant in one package to the National Visa Center; sending this information separately will delay
    your visa.

Now, I sent the AOS package first, it was received on 6/18. The DS230 (IV) package was sent and received on the 24th. I am positive that I included everything in the DS230 package; I checked it like 10 times before sending it. Everything was held with paper clips and binder clips. Nothing was loose.

I called the NVC, and the representative said that the letter I received was nothing to worry about, and that it just meant that they had looked at my AOS package. He said that this meant that my IV package still had not been looked at, and that this letter was requesting the IV package to be sent.

I do not want to have any additional delays...does anybody have any other thoughts on this?

Also...I didn't make any photocopies of my AOS or IV packages...would that be a problem during interview time?

  6. Many of us have used the VJ template. There also seems to be a high success rate in using the following method. Send the VJ template, and make the subject line as the quoted post says.

It's been more than a week or two since I sent the DS-3032 and haven't heard back. What should I do?

It's been suggested (and has worked successfully with a few members) if you send a second DS-3032 email. It'll be exactly the same as the first email (for the body), except with a different subject line. Put this as your new subject line (changing the case number and name to reflect your case):

Supervisor Review - NVC Case # MTL2012XXXXXX - BENEFICIARY'S FULL NAME - Second Time Sending

Members have gotten responses (aka DS-3032 acceptance) within a few hours (depending when it was sent)!

  7. Consider the following scenario: USC petitions for foreign parent, who becomes a permanent resident. Parent now petitions for her children who are under 21. During the time between petition and the children being granted a visa, can the parent live or visit overseas? I heard something about being able to do so provided that the parent comes back to the US every 6 months. Alternatively, I heard it is okay provided they get a re-entry permit. So I don't know what the right answer is regarding this. Also, can parents petition for married children, or children over 21?
