  1. Hello all,

Please forgive me if this question has been asked a million times, but I wanted to ask again and make absolutely sure.

My wife came to California last year from Japan on a fiance visa, and she got her green card a few months ago. Her mother was recently admitted to the hospital in Japan because of her cancer and is not doing too well. My wife wants to travel back to Japan and stay for about a month or so to be with her mom and help with the family.

She has a Japanese passport (expiring in 2018) with her maiden (last)name on it, and her green card with her married (last)name. A friend told me that she needs a white passport to travel, and that there may be issues with her maiden (last)name on the passport and her married (last) name on the green card.

I have never heard of a white passport and i am thinking if she just takes the marriage certificate with her then there shouldn't be any problems with the name differences.

Please I would appreciate any helpful information on this matter. Thank you for much! :)

  2. Hello all,

Our petition was approved on August 19, 2013 and the NVC still hasn't received our package from the California Center. I called both NVC and USCS and they told me it takes 2-3 months. USCIS told me that if NVC doesn't receive it by October 19 that I should call back and they will send a request to NVC.

I have noticed that for other people on this board it doesn't take so long. Or does it? Is this normal?

    Thank you.

  3. Hello all,

I will be mailing my package today, and just had a question regarding the processing time. Here is the processing times for California Service Centers:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do

For i-129f, the last case processed was July 18 2012. So what does this date exactly mean? The page provides a very brief explanation but I am still confused. Does this mean I am to expect a very loooong delay in processing my i-129f?

    Thanks

  4. I-128???

seems complete....or I think your missing birth certificate. also, make sure to double check or even triple check every page/documents if you miss a signature, date or answer something. Vjers prepare to put none or N/A if the question doesn't apply to u. goodluck!!!

    Oops, sorry I meant i-129 :-)

Is the birth certificate also required? On the step by step guide:

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

On number 11, it states birth certificate, or passport or US citizen/naturalization certificate. I am already including US citizen certificate and passport.

  5. Hello everyone,
I am about to send my i-128 package to the dallas lockbox. I have worked on this package for over a month now, getting everything together and reading everything on this website. Below is a list of what I have in my package, it would be a great help to me if you can review what I have and let me know if everything is okay or if I missed everything. Everything listed below is in order in my package. To separate each group of documents from the other, I used paperclips to separate them. All documents will be placed in an envelope, and the envelope placed in a bubble envelope. Here are the contents of the package:
    1. Cover letter (signed and dated)
    2. G-1145

      6. 4 Emails

The package will be mailed to:

    USCIS

    P.O. Box 660151

with return receipt requested / delivery confirmation.

    Thank you :-)

  6. Unfortunately, I don't have the boarding pass for when I visited my fiance in her country, but she has hers when she visited me. I have included her boarding pass, so should I will include a copy of my entire passport and highlight the stamp? Should my fiance include her passport as well or is the boarding pass enough?

Also, can my fiance take photos (with her iphone) of her passport pages and email them to me so I can print out? Or does she need to photo copy them and mail them to me?

    Thanks

  7. Hello everyone,

I recently talked to a friend of mine who did the K-1 visa like ten or so years ago. She basically told me to do everything that's already on this website. The only difference was that she said in her cover letter, she wrote that she was planning to get married on a certain date and had made all the arrangements for the church, church hall, etc. She said that this helped greatly in speeding up the process and was able to get married on the exact date that she stated.

So will it help if I did the same thing in my cover letter? Or is this something that worked ten years ago and no longer today?

    Thank you

  8. If you've ever legally changed your name that would fall under "7. Other Names Used". If you've never legally changed your name, then you should not have to do so. Many people call Christopher by his last name, and it is common to see that in chats. Nicknames/petnames/shortened/alternate forms are not required there, unless you legally changed your name to it.

Unfortunately, unless you legally had your middle name changed to "Danger", you'll have to skip that question :)

Thank you very much for your response. No I've never legally changed my name, it's always been the same. Many people just called me by my baptism name and that's what appears in my emails and chats.

    Thank you again :-)

  9. Hello everyone,

I am a US citizen and wanting to marry a Japanese citizen from Japan. We just started the process of filling out the forms for K-1 and getting all the things together (pictures, emails, etc). I have a question regarding my name. I have a legal name (of course), but I also have a Christian baptism name that many people call me by (including my fiance). My baptism name is on my emails, Skype, Facetime, etc.

So for example, let's same my legal name is Joe Doe and my baptism name is John Doe. Will it get confusing for the immigration people reviewing our forms when they see Joe Doe in the applications, passport, etc and then see John Doe in my emails, Skype calls, etc.?

I hope I am making sense. Thank you very much! :-)
