  1. Nota.Bene.: If'n yer hiding from the Canadien Embassy, don't bother to register as a hosting site, m'kay?

Sorry....just have to LOL at that!! What makes it even funnier is that common sense isn't so common.

  2. Sorry.....I was hoping someone who had a better idea than me would answer. I am not very experienced in this and I am learning as I go....

What I would do.....put the info in wherever it asks for it, even if it is a duplicated somewhere else. More than enough info is better than not enough info. Again, my opinion, lol. I tend to overdue things and give way more info than needed :) Hope this helps in some small way

  3. I am late to the game but just want to CONGRATULATE Oopartiv and Valprime and on their visas!!!!!!!

We are waiting for you at the airports biggrin.pnggoofy.gif

Thank you so much!! We will actually be making that long 26 hr drive from Montreal to Florida, lol. Hoping the Uhaul truck is comfy for 3!!

I am sending positive thoughts this morning for NikiR and any other Montreal interviews this morning :)

  4. You may need to sell the car then.

Depending where you live, there are different rules for getting the car titled there.

I had just made my last payment on my car about a month before I imported it. So I had the finance company provide a letter confirming there was no lien on it. I had to confirm there was no lien on it when at the title bureau.

When I did the POE for the car it was straight forward but had to present all my paperwork, ownership etc at that time as well.

I would definitely contact the title bureau where you're moving to find out what they need.

It is also my understanding that they can check this information at the border in terms of ownership but I can't confirm it.

Did you request your compliance letter yet?

I checked in with my local DMV here in Florida. It is pretty basic what we need to title the care. Registration/title (in Canada these are the same and is carried in car), Florida insurance, and the oh so lovely sale tax we will have to pay :(

Husband is going to check with the Ford finance company about importing the car and he has already requested the compliance letter ($75).

  5. I am constantly checking my email but I think I will not receive an email until 7-10 days after the appointment has been set? So I call NVC at least twice a day. I have also lost my mind. My wife is ready to give up on me. It is so stressful I fear she will change her mind and not come with me after all. I hate this waiting....it's killing me! None of this makes any sense. Talk about the most inefficient operation I have ever seen....

My experience....I was calling the NVC twice a day, once in morning and once in evening. The morning they told me I had an interview date scheduled I received an email with the same info within an hour. Not sure if it was just a coincidence though. As far as your wife....this process is amazingly stressful. I understand how your feeling as my husband was ready to call it quits just a few days ago. The process is long and wears on your nerves. my thoughts to you....stay strong and positive. I know it is difficult but always be as encouraging as possible. I was almost to my breaking point this week.....but hang in there and have faith. And the fellow VJers are awesome. Wish I could hand out rewards!! My journey isn't over yet either....I have my stepsons case to finish so nothing but positive thoughts for me!!

  6. 2. You need to speak with your finance company. There are two issues with having a lien on the vehicle. One is that the finance company may not authorize taking the vehicle out of the country while you still owe money on it. The second issue is that, when you register the vehicle in the US, they require the lien-holder information because the title of the vehicle will be put in the lien-holders' name, not yours.

If the case is that the finance company will not let you import vehicle.....what are my choices that are left? Husband has a Ford mustang if that helps. No way can we pay it off before he moves, lol

  7. WoooooooHooooooo.......My husband got approved this morning!! got that famous "Welcome to the US" letter and also managed to get the C1 ticket. I am beyond excited!! One down and one more to go!! This should make my stepsons case go through smoothly :) Once he gets home and tells me more about the interview......I will put that in my timeline for review :)

VJ is awesome!! Thank you so much

  8. Well.....my husbands interview is tomorrow in Montreal. I am pretty sure we have everything ready for that....with everything else going on I am feeling pretty numb. I will let you know as soon as I word from him tomorrow. It is exciting....but knowing that is not the end of our journey takes some of the excitement out of it....though one HUGE hurdle will be crossed and done :)

  9. option 3? father and son go in on the 30th, together.

Step son does not have an interview letter.....I don't want to risk them both not being allowed to enter consulate.

I do not think option 2 is an option. Why would your husband NOT go for his interview? Who knows how long it would take to schedule a new one if he purposefully misses it.

I was thinking option 2 wasn't a good one either. I do not want to take the chance of their "expedited interview" running into July. At least with option 1 we would have something to fall back on....husband would already have his visa and could move if step sons interview went into July if need be.

  10. Ah I understand the rush now. Yeah he could probably come as a visitor. Remember your husband will need either custody papers showing he has sole custody or a notarized letter stating it is okay for him to travel or move. It will take about a week (hopefully less) for him to get his visa. If you can get this expedited at the NVC and the consulate you may get your stuff all done before July 1st. If not, I can't imagine a short visit is a horrible thing or why customs would ever turn away just a child. They can be the jerkiest people around when they have to do their jobs, but they're still people.

I would rather see you guys get the medical done before the interview so that you're not waiting on Montreal after the fact. While the rest of Montreal seems to be in a rush, I get the feeling the consulate is filled with laid back southerners. LOL

My husband has a notarized letter from his ex stating he can move and travel to the US with son.

This is where we currently are....my husband has everything prepared and ready for his interview on the 30th, including his medical. Stepsons case is at NVC (now have a case number) and is awaiting approval from consulate for expedite (we have been waiting a week for approval and still waiting). I heard back from the congressman's secretary today, she called the consulate somehow. This is what I was told...."the Montreal Consulate this morning stating that they will not be able to marry the files of your husband and his son in time for the hearing scheduled on May 30, 2013". " They did say that since the case has already been put in an expedited status, it wouldn’t take as long to schedule the hearing." So there is no way the case can make it from the NVC to the consulate in time. Plus, we have no medical done yet for stepson.

So my 2 choices as I see them....please tell me if I have any other choices if you see one.

    1. My husband goes to his interview alone on Thursday and emerges hopefully with an approved visa. We then plan our move and possibly move while we wait for the NVC and Consulate to finish their stuff (get approved expedite, NVC mails I-130 packet to Consulate, I pay fees when consulate receives, and consulate sets up an expedited interview). Bring stepson into US as a visitor and travel back to Montreal if interview is scheduled after July 1st.

    2. My husband does not go to his interview and we wait for this expedite process to go its course and pray for an interview before July 1st.

This is the crossroads where we stand....not knowing which way to go. Knowing that either way we take could possibly end up the wrong way.

  11. The other option is going back to Montreal whenever the interview finally is for his son. For a small child I'm sure it's really just making sure you have the originals. I know your husband doesn't want to do this because it's more work and expensive to travel, but I really can't believe that he'd just want to split up because he has to travel to Montreal once more to make sure his son and wife can live in the same household. I cannot see why the boy wouldn't be allowed to live with you guys until such a time or why the interview wouldn't take place before you husband finally had everything packed up and ready to move. They can't just hop on a plane the same day and fly down anyhow. Why not take the month and pack up, have the son's interview then leave within the next week?

I am wondering that myself.....can my husband go to his interview this Thursday, get approved, get visa.....and then we move down here to Florida and my stepson come along as a visitor until his paperwork is completed? What would be the possibilities at customs when driving down? He is only 5 and can not be away from his dad. His mother recently moved over 600 miles away so his dad is all he has. I have no problem traveling back to Montreal for stepsons medical and interview once we get his papers done and complete. And...not like we didn't have enough stress....my husbands lease is up July 1st and the landlord is unwilling to let him stay cause he knows he will be immigrating to US.

  12. This is VERY frustrating. I called NVC asking for an email that stated the case number and they said they could put in the request for me and it takes 3-5 days. There is no number for my to call the consulate to request anything except of course for the scheduling center which they said was a completely different building, probably for all I know not even in Canada. Everything has gone fairly smoothly for us until the very end and it all seems as if it is falling apart.

  13. Because the gentlemen I talked to on phone apparently did not know what he was talking about. I told him I called NVC this morning and received a case number and asked if stepson could get medical with just a case number. I had no letter of any kind. He said yes and squeezed him in for 11;30.....when my husband and stepson got there....they said they needed a letter of interview or a letter stating case number.....so turned him away

  14. OMG....OMG....the race is on!! My husband showed back up at home (we are on the home phone together 24/7 lol) and I told him what was going on.....long story short....I called back the clinic to see if it was possible to squeeze stepson in today for medical. At first it was a no...then I guess they could hear my stress and anxiety and came back with 11:30 was the only time they could do. My husband is now in a race against the clock to pick up son and get there in time. *hearts racing*

  15. Do you have a case number for your son? His MTL number? I would bet that if you did the medical at Dr. Seiden's they would do it for you anyway. When I scheduled my medicals we didn't have our letters yet and was told that if we didn't have them I just needed to provide the case number. They needed to know the interview date. Now I did of course have my letter by the time I got to our medicals BUT... I am thinking that if you were to call them and tell them the situation, they might still do the medical. They want their $300!

Obviously I don't KNOW for sure but I feel that if you were to call Dr. Seiden's and escalate it if you have to in order to speak to the office manager (I can't remember her name, but if I figure it out I will let you know) they might help you out.

I would just call and see what they say. They might be able to help so at least the results are available in time for the interview.

I called the Medisys this morning because we finally just received stepsons case number. They said it takes 3 days for results possibly 2 for a child. So either way they would not be done in time for interview. But they said they could do it with a case number. Wish we had our case number last week. I'm sitting here feeling helpless....with nothing I can do to help things along.
