  1. Hi all,

I've been in VJ for almost 2 years now. It's been a wonderful experience. I've learned so much from this Forum and everyone here has been so helpful. Thank you so much!!! I couldn't have asked for more. We finally got approved for CR-1 visa. My husband had his interview on his birthday and he was approved :) What a lovely gift on his birthday. Thank you everyone and I'll try to write a review for his Consulate experience soon.

Good luck for all who's waiting for their loved ones to come home!!

    -T

  2. Friends,

My NOA 1 for I130 is July 9, 2014 at Nebraska Service Center. It's been over 5 months now, but I still haven't received any update on the case. When I call the USCIS number, I get generic responses from both Tier 1 and Tier 2 reps. Any suggestions on what I can do to learn more about where the case is stuck or why it is not getting processed?

    Thanks

NSC is known for long process. They will take exactly five months if not less. I see that yours just completed the 5 month period. I suggest wait for few more days (about 1-2 week) and then do e-service or call. We can't do anything at this point, unfortunately :(

  3. I have a question probably one of you can help why is it when I go into the ceac page and press where it says PAID it logs me out the page I'm really lost in this process I don't know how or where should I go to track my case,Right now I'm on the 60 days waiting period and it's really frustrating when you have no idea as to what you have to do

I had same problem and realized later that I have to login through a different portal for the payments. You should use https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx

    Hope it helps. Good luck!

  4. I agree with other members that it really depends on the Immigration officer during your interview date. Delhi is known to be tough because it deals with so many fraudulent cases. However, if your relationship is real & you can prove that through evidence...Have no fear!! :) Good luck on the journey...

Also, I read somewhere that if your spouse can come during the interview period, it would make the case stronger..Just a suggestion! I'm planning to go to India during my husband's interview (if its during my vacation lol)

  5. I might have to join this group...hahahah mine CR-1 was approved 09/17/14, received duplicate notice 10/01/14 and finally shipped to NVC 10/7/14. Called NVC today and they said they haven't received my file yet. I think I will call back next week on monday. It's been 14 calender days since my case has been shipped....waiting ^.^

Edited- I realize NSC takes the longest time among all USCIS processing center to ship the case to NVC...:(

  6. Thats great news! I wonder why they took so long to ship it, sadly by what i see on other timelines it takes 25 days for nvc to receive and a few days after they give u a case #

...ive notice it takes a few days not too many...

Yes, it sucks :( They took 3 weeks to ship. But I'm going by my 1st approval letter. As soon as it reaches 25 business days, I'm going to call NVC and ask them if they have received my file or not.

  7. I got duplicate approval notices too, however they both have the same approval dates. Our lawyer says uscis is a mess, i think nvc goes by the actual approval dates because thats what they ask me for when i call

Thank you Tavotevi for your prompt response. I just got emailed today stating that my case is shipped to NVC. I know you still haven't recieved case # yet, when you said the 25 days wait period for NVC. Is the wait period for them to receive the package or does that period also include receiving package as well as assigning the case #? I'm really confused about that.

Thank you once again for your response. I'm kinda relieved now that my package has been shipped.

  8. I called NVC for a week then one day she asked my fiances name and dob....which normally they told me they don't have my MTL#....she gave me my number over the phone then I was able to track my case. I'm not sure process for your case, but they told me it was a glitch, it took a week of calling before montreal had my information. It's very frustrating but rest assured you'll have info shortly just keep calling.

I spoke with an officer from USCIS and she said its a computer glitch too but now I received another email & checked my case status on USCIS website & it states this now-

    Acceptance

On October 1, 2014, a duplicate notice was mailed to you regarding a decision on this case, or describing how we will process the case if it is still pending. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your case is at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. If this I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN is still pending, you will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move and this case is still pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

  9. I had the same thing happen with my k1 visa..... I called and spoke to tier 2 immigration officer, and they said it was a computer glitch and it meant my case was moving.....

Keep calm I'm certain its just meaning your case is moving

    Cheers

So how long did it take after speaking with a tier 2 officer to move your case to NVC? I called right after I received email but the lady on phone told me that the Tier 2 officers are extremely busy due to the high volume of call. So she said to call back tomorrow. I hope everything is fine. I'm worried here. I just hope this is a computer glitch & that they have mailed our documents to NVC..

I'm calling them tomorrow morning at 8AM

  10. I received an email for approval on Sep 17th and received actual approval notice on Sep 20th. Now, USCIS sent me 2 email today: 1st email stated that I put an e-service & 2nd email (10 mins after the 1st email) stated that my address has been changed. Now my case update shows-

    Initial Review

On September 30, 2014, your address was changed relating to the I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN that you filed. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

I'm going crazy here...Did they make some mistake? Or are they backing out on approval now? I'm so lost. Guide me if anyone had this experience?

    Thanks

  11. Hi Tenzy,

I have been in the NVC proceeding phase of my visa journey. We are supposed to send the IV packet and I had a question regarding it,if you could address it. The visa website (http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html) States that one must obtain the original or certified documents - be it birth certificate or police clearance or marriage certificate. This is a little confusing to me and my husband as we are following the process on our own without an attorney. Does it mean that we have to submit the original documents ? What does certified copies mean here? Does it mean that I get my documents attested or certified by a gazetted officer? Also, the link above states that :

Important: If we asked for an original or certified copy you must send the actual original or certified copy of the document to the NVC. You cannot submit a photocopy or a notarized photocopy as this will delay your case.

This confuses me a lot more as I am in India and my husband is in US. Does this mean that I have to mail original documents to him to complete the IV packet to be sent to NVC? I hope, if this is what I am supposed to do, will I not require thee original documents during my interview? Or will I get these original documents back?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi,

I'm also doing this process without an attorney. From what I understand, I think you are better off sending the original documents to NVC rather than Certified Copy (although it states on their website that you can sent either one). Certified Copy just means a copy of the original issued by the same issuer. For example- I think what you can do it go back to where your certificates were issued & ask them for another copy (I'm sure they can pull out from their records). The certified copies dont need to be notarized. They just need to be issued by the same issuer. (whatever it is in your case). And, you have to sent those documents to your husband (since these are important documents, I suggest you use the best method of mailing- FedEx is a good option) and Your husband needs to sent those documents to NVC.

Good luck to you guys :)

  12. Im also waiting for his documents..mainly the police clearance because he has to go back to where he was living the past few years :( he has one from his hometown but i dont want to ridk them not accepting it because its not from the city where he was working recently.

My status still says "approval notice sent out" it didn't change to "shipped to NVC", should I call USCIS & ask them cuz i see that yours was shipped right after. Today marks the 10th day since my approval notice was sent out.

P.S- Do you happen to know if NVC mails out a letter to us asking for beneficiary's supporting documents? For example- Listing the items like Birth certificate, marriage certificate, passport size photo, police clearance, etc..or do we just sent out the documents on our own through our research on the NVC website. I'm trying to expedite my husband's passport & they are asking for some notice from U.S side asking for those documents. I don't have the letter yet so I'm so confused. For now, I sent them the approval notice but that doesn't indicate the document lists that we need. I hope they expedite it, so that I can have the IV package complete before NVC asks. I'm so stressed...ughh -.-

  13. I am not sure if it's right but just my point of view-

I think your lawyer asked for 2nd original copy just in case when NVC ships your documents to the U.S. Consulate in your country, they are afraid that it might get lost or misplaced. The "2nd original copy" is just a back up. As to how you can get it would depend on where it was issued. Ask your sister to go back to where her Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate was issued & ask them for a certified copy (which holds the same value as a original document)

  14. This is the feedback i got from someone who sent everything within 1.5 months...

-What I strongly recommend you is to have both packages (AOS and IV) right away to send them TOGETHER, as soon as you have the AOS bill invoiced (so you can use the cover page). --

After that she is just waiting for her case to be completed.. After seeing this i got hope that it might not be as bad as i thought :)

Oh I didn't know that. That's a great idea to work on. I have AOS pretty much prepared. The only thing I am waiting for is my husband's document. We have some issues with passport (need to resolve that first), then get the Police clearance & he already has birth certificate. He needs to mail me those (along with his pictures). I have AOS package ready from my side. This process is taking so long. :( Hope we're almost there!! *fingers crossed*

  15. I believe you can send in all your documents at once after you pay the fees, even though they wont be seen until the actual step comes through the process, doing this will save you the mail time instead of them receiving one packet then after another one. Try to get everything you need asap. But if worst comes to worst you can stick to the one packet at a time. Of course this is my opinion after what i read here its not a fact... Hope it helps a little..

When you mean all documents, are you referring to AOS package & the supporting documents (like birth certificates, marriage certificates & stuff?)

Thanks for the reply Tavotevi :)

  16. I got and RFE on Friday. I still don't have the RFE letter so I don't know what it's about. For those who got RFE's, can you put the description of your RFE?

Another question, is it a good idea for me to contact my senator at this point?

    Thanks

I got RFE asking for "legible copy" of my marriage certificate. I sent them copy again & got approved after 2 weeks. I don't know if this might work but try calling the USCIS & maybe you can ask them to sent the letter again or maybe ask what the RFE was about?
