  1. My wife is eligible to file for Citizenship on January 24, 2019, as it will be 90 days prior to her third anniversary here..now it gets complicated..we have tax transcripts for the tax years 2016 and 2017..BUT 2018 is fresh and there is the matter of the government shutdown...with that in mind can we submit with hand-written or printed forms now and send the transcripts when they become available? Any help will be appreciated..I am sure the impact of the shutdown will be felt throughout the system but ours would be complicated even without the shutdown with the time thing

  2. Do you have certificate of marriage? Lease/house deed-utilities in same account-joint bank accounts-credit cards-any other financial data that shows joint ownership/responsibility. Letters from the presider of the wedding, guests. Ask others if they have pictures. Is there a state records division that has certified copies? Did you have a reception? Get any and all corroborating evidence/proof. If all else fails, call your Congress person and see if they can help. Copies of Facebook, other social media-by you and others-anything concrete, documentable will help.

  3. Please, please, please stop clogging up my mailbox with repeat posts. Today, pogi1952 posted the same item FIVE times-that is excessive. I know you are thrilled but be considerate-it is a pain to have to keep killing off repeats on this site, especially when they get tossed in with originals. Once will do. Thanx

  4. Ahh-This gets worse. Our I-130 , doing a DCF through Manila, was approved on June 10, 2013. The Embassy said they mailed the Information Packet on June 11. We have not received it.

I cannot get the phone answered in Manila. I have e-mailed 15 times; have written 5 letters through the Philippines' mail system and have sent three letters through LBC. I also messaged the Facebook page several time and it was their impetus that got us what we have, which is not much and hardly enough. All I have received is an MNL number and the mailing date-absolutely no other information or offer to send the packet.

A second layer of complexity is that we also need a letter from the Embassy stating that we need a police clearance from Brunei. I have combined the two requests in my correspondence-with no answer.

The MNL number works-I filed a DS-260 last week but have absolutely no clue where to send the documents and will be missing the bar-coded letter that should have been in the packet and the Brunei police report. I have heard nothing except a confirmation of receipt.

Today, I went to the US Consulate in Cebu, near where we live. The officer said that an MNL number is only issued when we paid the fee-have not. He gave me the same addresses and numbers I have been using. He also confirmed the futility of calling. He felt my congress woman cannot help. He told me to consider an immigration attorney.

I am totally confused. It seems like such an easy and routine matter to solve: send the form letter for Brunei and the packet. I cannot fathom having to hire an attorney to facilitate this. My visa expires in October and I do not want to make another visa run.

Anybody have any ideas how to unravel any of this? Anyone have experience with immigration lawyers in Cebu? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Robertd

  5. We are doing a DCF through Manila. Our I-130 was approved on June 10. The Information packet was mailed on June 11 but we never received it. It took three months of e-mailing and letter writing to get a case number, but that is all we have and cannot reach anyone to rectify this and get us moving again. Complicating this is that we need a letter from the US Embassy requesting a police clearance from the Brunei embassy as my wife lived there for six years. Does anyone have any ideas? I started filling out the ds-260 and there are a lot of question 2. thanks Robert dski

  6. Ahha-ahaha..we had our I-130 through a DCF filing in Manila approved on June 10, 2013 BUT did not receive the packet and spent three hellish months trying to get a status report. Finally, we got a case # on Friday, November 29, and they said the packet was mailed on June 11, 2013-but we never received it. I am going to e-mail them and ask for another but am not holding my breath-they have been awful with e-mails.

I have started the DS-260 filing but found we need a police clearance from Brunei-I heard that Brunei requires a letter from the US Embassy. Can anyone confirm or deny that? Especially someone who has needed one from Brunei before.

And, where do I get an instruction sheet for the new packet? I can get through the DS-260 okay. Has anyone scanned the documents as opposed to sending them physically by courier or snail mail? New system with very little support or at least clarification I can find. Any help appreciated.

  7. We received the initial approval of our I-130 on June 10, 2013 and were told that we would be contacted by the Embassy and we have not-we did a DCF on June 04 and were amazed at the quick response but it has been wait, wait, wait since. I have tried to get info through e-mails to no avail-IVManila replies has not responded to five e-mails-I have received conflicting messages from others sources such as their Facebook page. It is virtually impossible to reach the Embassy on the phone as we are in Talisay City, Cebu province. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas. I noticed one of the threads was about delays-Amen, I can relate. Thanks robertdski

  8. Does anyone know how long you have to file your request for an interview once you have received the packet formerly known as Packet 3? We have received our NOA 2 and are awaiting our packet but would like to buy some time as we do not want to enter the states until after Labor Day 2014-I know we have to enter the country 6 months after the visa is issued but I have heard you have 2 years to complete the process once you receive Packet 3 but cannot find documentation anywhere on the government sites-does anyone know the answer and know where I can find the documentation? thanks Robert Dski

  9. Would like to know which immunizations were required for folks who have recently (since 2010 change) immigrated to the USA? We are in the Philippines and my wife is 36. USCIS has a list of possible injections but is vague about exactly what is needed. I know it is a case-by-case thing but I would like to know about actual cases and what was needed. Thanks. We have an appointment in Manila on June 4 for a DCF, so we will start the process soon. She has had no recent vaccinations, which is my concern as I want to get a head start and not have to get 55 shots in 4 days or something like that. Thanks.

  10. I did find a fix to the problem-I used Foxit Reader insteadof Adobe-it has typewriter mode and can size down to 8 point, which solved the Philippines problem. It also helps by letting you write letter like "Present Time" where Adobe will not. I also had a great response from the US Embassy to a question I asked on their Facebook page-quicker than e-mail. Will file DCF on June 4 appointment date-can't wait. Robert Dski

  11. I am having trouble figuring out how to post on the Philippine portal; so I will throw this out:

    1. On the i-130, Section B #2 asks for state/country-Cebu/Philippines will not fit

    2. Some say use abbreviations like the common Ph. or the three-letter Phl. but I do not want to run the risk

    3. Can I print all but the pHilippines and hand write it in? That owuld work

    4. Cebu is technically a province not a state; do I need it at all?

    5. Basically do not want to make a mistake especially since I have to deal with Manila not Cebu

    6. Our appointment with USCIS to file DCF is June 4

    Thanks RobertDski

  12. I am doing a DCF in Manila. I have been in the Philippines for 2 years. My question regards the section:Applicant's residence for the last five years. You need a stateside residence AND for a DCF need to have been here for at least 6 months. My question is : how do you list both when there is only one line "Present Time?" How do you address this seeming duality?Thanx robertdski
