  1. Hi, I'm ready to take the next step.. not sure what that is though... Me and my fiancé just got married (07-17-2014) after him coming over on the fiancé Visa. It's been a month now since he's been here. Please can some one guide me in the right direction..

    ~Moved from K1 Process to Fam.-based AOS Forum~

~Inquiry about AOS process, past K-1~

    (organizer hat off)

First of all, Congratulations !!! :dancing:

Take a peek at the K1 Flowchart, sounds like you are around step 18:

Start becoming acquainted with the K1/K3 AOS guide:

    http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Become acquainted with the Family-based AOS forum.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Your next step is AOS (Adjustment of Status), so your new spouse can get her green card. You can also apply for AP (Advance Parole, which is a travel document) and EAD (Work permit). EAD and AP are optional, you can file for them if you are going to need to travel or work before the green card arrives.

When you file for AOS there is a $1070 fee. If you file for EAD and AP with your AOS submission, you don't have to pay for either ED or AP fees.

You can find guides and the list of requirements for each one of them on the guide section of the forum.

The fees for the I-765(EAD-work authorization) and I-131(AP-advance parole for travel) are waived when filed with a pending I-485, so include both of those too. It takes about 60-90 days to receive the EAD/AP combo card, which will allow you to work(along with an SSN) and re-enter the US when traveling abroad while waiting for the green card approval.

You need all the supporting documents for each form as well, so read the instructions for each one. You can also search here on VJ for what to include with each form if you get stumped. There are also example forms here on VJ you can look at when filling out the forms. They can be helpful.

Oh, and here are the details you need about whether or not you need to see a civil surgeon > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/428381-i-693-report-of-medical-examination-and-vaccination-report/?p=6206232

Thanks so much for the help really appreciate it.... I have some questions on the I-485 form....

    1. Where do I get his I-94 number?

    2. USCIS status? and Date it expires?

  2. We were approved on April 30, 2014 and we still don't have it either...we are really upset and we don't know what to do either, and we've only gotten one update on the CEAC website, did you check it yet?

Hey thanks for responding.... i check that website and it says issued 05/30/14 but when i check dhl... its not say nothing...

  3. Hi, So after finally being approved. We completed the DHL and still have nothing back.. we were approve on 05/16 and complete the form online on the 05/19 making tomorrow two weeks? How long does it take to receive Visa and passport back? Is there some where I can go to check up on this? Where do I go to see if we have an AP hold? We set it for him to pick it up in kingston?

  4. A huge congratulations! Is definitely in order! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

    Thanks so much!!! :dancing:

    when's ur interview date?

    Its on the may 15th

Congrats!,,,finally. It goes really fast now. Call and make your medical appointment now. Get your police certificate, and non-impediment certificate now as well. Good Luck on interview.

    Thanks, working on that now....

  5. Hi, can my fiancée schedule the medical exam the day before interview date? Also, does anyone knows of any really close hotel to American embassy that's nice but not to expensive?

  6. Hello, I'm Ashley! My husband and I met on July 15, 2012.

    We were married February 13, 2013. :D

We submitted out I-130 and found out it had been accepted on April 2, 2013.

We just found out about a month ago that our I-130 visa was FINALLY approved! :D

We have an immigration lawyer that is handing our case. Our I-130 petition was being processed in Texas. Our visa has now been forwarded to the NVC. They've issued us a case number and we are anxiously awaiting to hear when my husband's interview date will be. Anyone in the same boat? Anybody able to offer any suggestions, words of encouragement, etc.? I am praying it will be a pretty straightforward case, and that he will get through without any difficulties. My husband has never been to the U.S., has never been married before, does not have any criminal offenses or communicable diseases. He graduated from college with honors and is now gainfully employed. He has been at the same job over a year now. It gets frustrating waiting and waiting... We have been married over a year now. Our immigration attorney said that he guesses it will be another 2-4 months before we get an interview date. :(

    Congrats!!! :dancing:

  7. Your welcome, yes email them the confirmation page only of the DS-160...I did the DS-230 form as well just to be on the safe side... I think you should do it and email that, but you have to have his signature on it...and scan it to them, but they only want part one, so it's ds-230 part I that you email..

True, I will get that done as well..... Thanks

  8. I know right and you will get it shortly, they emailed us like a day and 1/2 later,,,yes good luck as we are in the same stage...if you have more questions, let me know or send me a personal message....

Thanks... also I email them .....They told me I needed to complete DS-160 which I did... So I just email them the confirmation of it today... But they never said anything about DS-230. Did you complete that form? I think we just going to do it to be in the safe side.

  9. The embassy will schedule your interview with a random date, however if you can't make it, you can email them and let them know you need more time...the appointment dates are running about a month and a few days later after sending in all your paperwork to the embassy they will also email your appointment letter with your medical intructions, remember to make your medical appointment as quickly as you can, we were told that Jamaica has a lot of upcoming holidays and that we will need time to get your medical results to the embassy in time for your interview...I think you will have enough time, I'm going to be with my fiance as well and was wondering the same thing, so all should be well!!!

Hey, thanks so much for the info.... I cant wait to just get the date and pray and everything goes well from there.... Good luck to the both of us

  10. Hi, everyone. I hope everyone is having a good day? I have a question... Are we allowed to schedule the interview day or do the embassy just give us a day? Because I would like to be down with my fiancé for the interview but I work and have to let job know in advance?

  11. Hi, I really appreciate the help I've been receiving and it looks like we've been sitting now 2 months waiting for interview date and I did not complete all the steps to be schedule a interview date... I'm sorry I seem illiterate to the forms but I had a lawyer and I thought she had this all done... She told me my fiancée was waiting on a call to set-up interview date.... I should of been more involved in the process.. Its about to be two years since we first filed...... but I'm trying to be now I can really yall help... Thanks in advance

The DS230, with me being the petioner do I put my info on there or do he?

Do I complete part one and part two?

  13. Why would the lawyer have you pay the visa fee already, how much did you pay, my lawyer did our process in steps. Email the embassy at kingstonivappointment.gov and ask them what if I paid my visa fee to a lawyer and see what they say, because your really supposed to pay for it at the embassy day of interview, visa fee is $240. Did you also register with DHL and did you scan and email the confirmation page of the DS-160, your supposed to do that too. When you send the email yourself, address it to the embassy with your fiancé's information like this

    Case No: KNG2011559900

    Name: Little, John Dennis

    Preference Category: K1-JAM

and they will get back with you promptly, they are really come l, so email them for everything you need. Let me know if u need more help....We are going through the same process now.

After we receive the last letters with KNG ....... We did DS-160(in my receipt that she gave it says visa application fee under DS-160) and affidavit of co sign... I paid a total of 330.... I email them... hopefully I get good news....]

No I did not do the DHL, Im not sure what that is but I am going to google it and email the information......

    Thanks so much.

  14. Start by emailing the embassy to see where you are in the process, then go from there. Put your KNG number in the email, so they know your file. Ask them what else do they need to schedule your interview.

Ok and do you know the which one I would want to email about in the embassy info?

  15. A KNG number is your file number with the embassy, that has been assigned by NVC that designates which embassy your petition is with.

OK, mmmmm. So you received NOA1 and NOA2. Th next step is your file goes to NVC and then they process it and then send it to JA. You then complete DS230 part one and email signed scanned copy to embassy. You still complete DS 160 and the other forms. JA schedules interview appointment. You take all paperwork, birth cert, police cert, and other documents to the interview. At the interview, you pay visa fee.

JA in their process is not like other embassies.

Here are some links to our info and the process

Yes I did et Noa1 and Noa2 and I just look over papers I received and I did et the KNG number and I look over paper where it says to complete DS-160 and we did that and have confirmation number as well.... Im not sure about DS-230.... Where do I go for that?

  16. Are you filing for a k-1 or a visitors visa??? It sound like the steps you completed were for a visitors visa. In order for you to get interview for K-1, you email DS230 part one to embassy, you do not pay visa fees until interview, so how did you pay already?

Your best bet is to email the embassy to see where they have you in the process.

Do you have your KNG number? Is your file at the embassy from NVC? What paperwork did you send off and to where? I think that you are being misinformed on the process, and it has set you back three months.

I'm filing a k-1 visa.... I paid for visa application... I did the co-signer as well since I did not make enough money( affidavit of support)... I paid all this with my with my lawyer.. please don't tell me that we did something wrong... If so what part of embassy do I email? thanks

I only got the approval through the mail.. And gave my lawyer the paper work... and we did the DS-160 together and I have confirmation of that...

    Whats a KNG #?

  17. Hi, me and my fiancée filed for k-1 visa, with a lawyer that has not been much of a help.... So I'm really seeking from members. ??The last thing we file was DS-160 and that was back in January sent paper work off and paid for visa application and still not receive anything about setting up for interview. We did the application online and sent the paper work off.... and still did not receive anything? What should I do?

  18. Hi, everyone..... Me and my fiancee really needs yall help... ..
