My appointment is set for May 29, 2014 in Montreal. I just received an email last Tuesday asking me to bring my husbands 2013 tax that has not been filed. What else can I bring instead? I am scrambling and I sent them 2 emails and called the center and no reply. Your help is truly appreciated.

What if I don't have the current tax transcript can I provide the filing from the accountant? Financial statements? I am sooo stressed my interview is next week to find out my husband has not completed his taxes yet!

Yes I agree! Crossing the boarder I didnt tell them everything and got blasted for 4hrs. Eventually, they slapped me on the wrist and told me to be patient and they let me go across as long as I came back. Its been 5 months and I crossed once and the POE officer told me just to be patient and I showed him all my documents as long as I was coming back to Canada. We filed a whole report and everything. Will this affect my application? Everything has been received just waiting on an interview date.

Ok. I received notification on Tuesday that everything has been received. How long does it take to get an interview date?

Good morning everyone,
Sorry been out of the loop. This has been a difficult journey. Can anyone tell me how long it takes for a second checklist to be processed? Is it the same 20 days? I had a few missing information on the I-864 document. They sent it to me yesterday at 4pm and I sent it back at 6pm. What can I do to get it processed quicker? Thank you so much everyone...

I was born in Laos at home and my mom does not have a birth certificate for me. I emailed the Lao embassy in Canada and they are advising me to get a lawyer on my behalf to contact Lao Embassy to issue a birth certificate. Is this necessary?

I just received a checklist.... This one was one of the things I was afraid of. I don't have a birth certificate because I was born in Laos in 1979 at home and there are no records. I became a CanadianCitizn in 1983. How and who do I get proof from or letter to satisfy NVC? Please help

Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all doing well! I just moved in with my mom down the street from where I live. I have all my mail routed to my moms address. Should I make a change of address now? How do I do this?

What is included in the I-864 package?

Since you are Canadian, you don't follow the same steps as everyone else, and won't be sending a DS3032. These are your steps (I'm going to quote Saylin on this, since she's the local EP/online forms wiz):

Also, I suggest you go to this link and read up on the more specific instructions:

Lots of luck!

Hello everyone,
Ok, I called NVC and they filed my case # on Friday and I'm just finding out today!!! So they told me they are getting the package to be sent out today. I am super excited!!!!
Be proactive with NVC to speed up the things, rather than reactive!
1) After receiving the case from the USCIS, NVC assigns a case# (NVC Case#)
2) Call NVC at 603-334-0700 to get NVC Case#, to provide both the petitioner and beneficiary email ids and to get IIN (Invoice Identification Number)
3) Email DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) by the beneficiary to NVCINQUIRY@state.gov making the U.S petitioner as the agent (Email format: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form) ---- IS THIS STEP NECESSARY IF I ALREADY RECEIVED THE INFO BY PHONE? PLEASE ADVISE
The next step is making the payment? Yes?

Thank you so much!
I'm prepared for the border crossing and I never had a problem in the past because they have record of me having ties in the states and crossing many times. And I was just informed that as long as I have all my records that I am doing things legally I should be good!
I will call NVC every week.

Ok, I called NV today to check the status. They have received my file but nothing was entered into the computer so I don't have a case number yet. I have a few questions:
1) how long does this process usually take?
2) will the case number etc be available online so I can complete everything and send it from the US? Or will it be sent to me in Canada?
3) would it be safe for me to visit my husband in the US while I'm waiting?
Thanks again everyone for all your help and support.

Also what if I don't have a birth certificate? Is a Canadian citizenship sufficient? I was born in Laos and on a farm they don't dive things out like that!
-
Wow that is thorough! Thank you so much!
I didn't see anything about the tax records. Is it possible to just send one year and financial records with pay stubs?
-
I am the beneficiary

Got it! They received the package yesterday! Thanks for your help. Should I be making my doctors appointments from now? What do I do next? I have my husbands paper work with bank records however he hasn't filed for his taxes from the past 2 years and he is doing that now. But that will slow things down waiting for it. Can I just send 1tax record with his pay stubs and financial records?
