You do not need a lawyer. They don't help speed up the process. You can fill out and do everything on your own.
As for 3 years, ask if they were put on AP? and how long that process took? I filed March 7, 2013 and am stuck in AP for 6 months now.

My interview was on October 9, 2013 in Abu Dhabi. My case shows a status update of Jan 5, 2014. I'm at 141 days and very frustrated.

We've been in Ap for 5months now, I've called and emailed after 90 days. I get no where, everyone is extremely rude! I hope everyone else has a better experience than we have had.

It's really important that you make enough to support your fiancée. When my fiancé went to the embassy in Abu Dhabi he told me they were more concerned with what I make rather than our relationship. I don't know if it's because when I sent my packet I had more than enough evidence to show our relationship was real or not. I personally believe it's because they care more that we don't bring some to the U.S. that will take advantage of our government.

Don't worry about him being poor. As long as you make enough to support him thru the K-1 process is all that matters to the government.

I received my NOA 1 on March 6, 2013 and my NOA 2 was approved on June 25, 2013. I received my notice in the mail on June 28, 2013.
