Hello everyone,
my status for AOS has been updated (i-485) to "ready to interview". they are saying I should be receiving an appointment letter within 30 days.
My question are:
- Do they send a mail notification or text to let you know when the letter is on its way.- How long after updating the status do we usually relieve the letter ?
I am asking those questions because I was invited my by wife's family to spend a week end on the east coast, and I book any plane tickets until I receive this letter and know the date of my interview. Thanks !

I submitted both Just in case. Better to have a little bit too much than not enough.
Make sure you have another original certified copy at the interview tho.
-
Just wait until the end of next week. It can take some time.
Make sure you have a confirmation of receipt (like a UPS/Fedex confirmation of delivery, if you sent it through express mail).

It won"t work if yo do this.

Well, if his H1-B expires in 2014, he might not have to fill out the i-765, although I'm not sure if his H1-B will still be valid after he filled the AOS. You might want to check that out.
However for the i-131, you should send it along with the i-485, especially if you want to travel in August ! (it can tale up to 90 days..).

Your question is more about bonafide marriage. If you have a lease showing common residence or a joint bank account, you don't need an affidavit.
here is what you should send to prove the truthfulness of your marriage:
- send a copy of your lease showing common residence (you can also send a copy of the past residence you shared). It's probably the most important thing to prove. Both your names should figure on the lease.
- If you have a joint bank account, send a statement of this account.
- create a folders with pictures of you related to your relationship (photos during trips, when you got married, with friends, with family), photos that will somehow prove that your marriage/relationship is true.
- attach prints and plane tickets you used to travel and visit each other.

Allright ! Thanks for your answers

I sent my package last saturday, arrived on wednesday at 10am. I have the confirmation from UPS that it arrived (signed by NESBIT), however I did not receive a confirmation from USCIS that they received my package.
Is it normal ?
Do they usually send a confirmation that it has been received?
for information, I filled the form G-1145.

Paper clips are better than staples. They will likely remove them, so make it easier for them.

You are fine, just write Christopher, and for other names used, you can write Chris and attach a separate sheet of paper explaining the situations this ame is used (the lease for example).
-
What name is written on his passport ? visa ? Birth certificate ? - These are the most relevant documents used to establish identity.
If it is Christopher, use Christopher ! That is his legal name.
If driver licence, lease etc.. have Chris, just write down "Chris" for the question: "other names used".They will understand that Christopher can be simplified as Chris.
However, Chris does not necessarily imply that his full name is Christopher (It could be Christian for Example).
Unless of course if his passport specifies so. -
Any suggestions ?

Is she a USC? How is her name written on her passport ?
You should write her name based on how it is written on her US official documents.

Hi guys, I am almsot done with my application.
I have a question regarding the cover letter(s).
I am filling i-130, i-485, i-765 and i-131 together.
I was thinking writing a general cover letter presenting the whole package and explaining my situation, and writing one cover letter for i-485 and one for i-13° describing the packages.
Do you think it's a good idea or should I write just one single letter ?
Also, what do you think is the best way to organize that whole paxkage ? I want to make it easy for them.
Can I use staples to puts long documents (like passeport pages and photographies of us ) together or not ?
Can I use spacers to sperate documents in the enveloppe or should I use a folder for each application ?
Thank you so much !

My wife is filling the form i-864 and we have a doubt regarding Part 6.
In the instructions, it says:
Take your annual individual income from item number 5 and enter it on item number 6.c.
the part 6 is for persons in the household. My wife is the USC sponsoring me (and only me) and is above the 125% poverty guideline.
Should we write her name as person 1 in the household or is it for people OTHER than her.
I tend to think that the answer is no, but I would appreciated confirmation from you, since the instructions can be confusing sometimes..
Thanks.

You should try to call them and ask specifically how much they charge for the:
- Basic examination
- Any vaccination you may need
- x ray chest if needed.
You are from France, so you might be positive to the Tuberculic skin test and therefore will require a radiography of your lungs (x-ray chest). The reason you might be positive is because we receive the vaccination BCG in France (vaccin anti-tuberculique).
If you are negative, good new you won't have to pay for the x ray chest.
Ask these specific questions and put an emphasis on it. My doctor did not tell me the x-ray chest would be an extra $50 until I came back to get the results ....
You should also ask if the doctor preform the x-ray chest at its office, otherwise, you will have to take another appointment with an other doctor, which will take you much more time.Pick the doctor who charges the less (doctors in suburb areas tend to be cheaper).
You may also call your doctor in France and get a record of all your vaccination (or look at it your "carnet de santé"). Make sure to translate the vaccination record to your doctor (you can google that).
I was on date with all my vaccinations and did not need any extra (which is good knowing how much they charge for it). -
Thank you so much.
Yes, Harpa Timsah i did not realize I copied the question in this post. -
Anyone regarding my G-325a question ?

Well, let's say i travel in july, my AOS is pending, my VISA J1 has expired in June 2013. I know I am not illegally present in the US because I have a pending i-485, but I know rules can change when you travel, that's why i am asking.
-
hi everyone,
I have one question regarding the filling of i-131.
I am a J1 visa holder (will expire ni June): I am filling AOS with i-130, i-485, i-765 etc...
If I get the advance parole and I decide to travel after my J1 has expired BUT while my i-485 is pending, may I be refused entry to the US when I come back ?
I would have liked visiting my parents in July, but if that's an issue, I'll just wait until I'm approved.
Thank you for your answers.

For (b) is is N/A, for you.
Toda Raba !

If got your J1 back in 2001, wether you were subject or not to the 2-year residency rule does not change anything. It's been more than 2 years since anyway.
The question is: what is your status now ? Are you currently living in the US or in the UK ?
