  1. Hi all

We received the biometrics appointment letter with an appointment for next week, does that mean we are clear of the possibility of an RFC? Basically want to know if it is still possible to get an RFC? From what I have been reading, it seems like a lot of people get an RFC BEFORE their appointment, once they provide the information, they are cleared for biometrics. Any receive an RFC AFTER their biometrics?

This is for an AOS/EAD/AP combined application, for a current K1 visa holder.

    Thanks!

  2. Hey all

We are filing out our ds-160 for the k-1 visa, and we have a question: my fiance's mother does not have a last name. She does not have a passport and passed away in 2005 so there is not much documentation. On his birth certificate it only says her first name. What should be put for her last name? Not Available? Or use her first name as her last name?

    Any help would be great!

  3. From people I mailed who had a recent interview in India, they only needed 230, not 260. DS-260 is for IMMIGRANT visa. Technically, k-1 visa is NON-IMMIGRANT so have to fill out DS-230

Overview: What Is a K-1 Visa?

The fiancé(e) K-1 nonimmigrant visa is for the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) of a United States (U.S.) citizen. The K-1 visa permits the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) to travel to the United States and marry his or her U.S. citizen sponsor within 90 days of arrival.

  4. Hi to all who have gotten their approval notice! I have just received my notice and want to get clarification on what to except next. There are a lot of different responses on the forums, where some have received packet 3 and some who received neither 3 or 4. I will lay out what I believe to be true, and please provide any suggestions or tips!

    1. NVC received case, provides case number, sends case to Delhi - sends email when sent

    2. NVC will schedule an interview date - a hard copy of interview date will be send to beneficrary in India

    3. Delhi embassy will send Packet 3 - then we will send back DS-203 part 1 and applicants statement, via email to support-india@ustraveldocs.com (Anyone fill out DS-260?)

    4. Receive packet 4 will guidelines (passport, photos, medical requirements, evidence, etc.) to be brought to interview

    5. Register on usatraveldocs.com

    6. go for medical

    7. attend interview and pay visa fee

Any help would be appreciated! I am really confused on points 2-4, when do we receive these docs? Does NVC or the embassy send them? What if we do not receive them - just print out from online?

    Thanks!

  5. Hi All,

For k-1 filers, did you register on travel docs, schedule an interview, AND pay the visa fee online? I know that is what it says to do online, but want to verify with those who have successfully gone through the process.

*Will be done in New Delhi*

    Thanks!

  6. As an update for anyone going through this in New Delhi, only have to go to the passport office, takes 1-3 days and not 3 weeks. You can go to the office, fill out the paperwork there, they will ask you to come back for an interview the next day where they will stamp your passport. No need to go to the local police station.

  7. So, just to clarify because I am confused by all the posts, I do not need to go to my local police office? I saw people saying that an officer would come to their home and request written letters from neighbors. Did you have to do that?

  8. There have been so many confusing posts on this topic, and just want to get some clear answers.

From what I have read, based on my status, I will need 2 certificates:

    1) Passport office

    2) District police office in my neighborhood

    - I read that these can take awhile, can I get started on the process BEFORE I have an interview date? Do I have to show any specific documents from the embassy to get clearance?

    - Do I have to get one first, before the other? I read that I have to get the Passport Office clearance first, once I have the stamp in my passport I have can go to the police office for the second clearance?

    - Anyone have any idea how long this process takes? Step 1 I heard 1 day, but the police office can take a week?

    - By Passport Office, that means Passport Seva Kendra?

Lots of questions, but the posts have been so confusing with different opinions and answers. Please try to post concise answers!

Thanks this step seems like the most complicated!!
