  1. Yes, stay on top of it! My fiancé was approved August 25th, 2013, while we were in AP the embassy decided that our petition expired and sent me a letter on October 21. 2013, to reapply with the fee. I am working with the Ombudsman on this but this is nonsense!

Good luck! I filed a complaint with the CIS Ombudsman and they told me it was a DOS issue and they could not help me. After this I filed a waste case with the DOS OIG and they forwarded it to the Bureau of Consular Executive Office. They told me that they cannot overturn the embassy's decision to return the paperwork.

Ironically, my fiance had his interview on August 25, 2013 and my letter is dated October 21, 2013.

I agree that this is nonsense and that we have to pay again because the DOS can't get their work done within the established timeline.

I also contacted my Senator who was worthless.

I just reapplied last week but I am flying my fiance to another country so we don't have to deal with the US Embassy in Kabul.

  2. Hey the good thing is he was approved. You should email them back in case they put him in for further administration processing they can let you know if they did.

  3. I spoke with Customs the other day and he told me that people on Visa Journey 'embellish' and that the entire visa process takes 90 days after approval by the NVC. I told him about you and I and AP and he laughed and said that we were wrong! Can you believe that! He did however tell me that K1 visas are never sent back per policy only spousal visas. He then suggested that I filled out the wrong forms! Well, I am going to find this policy and file a complaint. With people like this, i it any wonder our visa process is a mess?

  4. Babasahb,

My case was sent back last month too. I have not had a nikka and my fiancé is a male. I am not certain why my case was sent back. I did switch jobs so the I-134 was no longer valid. We did report this to the Kabul Embassy. A CSR at the NVC said this could be my reason or my case could have been chosen at random. I think that we assume that something is wrong when maybe nothing is wrong and this is just the way the system works. An agent at USCIS said that I have another year to wait as there are about a thousand cases ahead of me. I hear the panic in your posting and this is exactly the way I felt when I received my letter on October 21, 2013. I had to accept that this was God's will and I believe that he will be given a visa eventually. God has His plan so I will wait. As far as my opinion goes, I would file the I130 paperwork as your future wife is pregnant and there is no reason to put her well-being at risk if it is not already. Islam in Afghanistan is very strict, perhaps refraining from activities which could have put her in jeopardy would have been a good idea.

Hang in there, you are not alone.

  5. O, I sorry if I was rude. I didn't know my statement would be sound rude to you. I am trying to give enough information to get some ansers.

looks like you been in AP we are in same boat. we have been in AP too for past four months

Thanks! It can be hard to read things on postings. I apologize too. I know this can be a frustrating process.

If I were you, I would contact your Senator and ask them to look into this for you. My Senator sent me a Request for Information form which I completed and sent back. They contacted the embassy and then sent me a letter stating that my case is in AP. This happened before our interview but we were scheduled about a month later. Maybe you could try this. At least it would bring attention to your case especially after such a long wait!

  6. I know im in Ap. They called us to drop passport. I am trying to explain this. I have been in AP for months. They called for passport. I am trying to figure out how long it takes for someone to get visa after the embassy calls them for passport. I already know we are in AP.

Why would anyone answer your question when someone is trying to help and you give a nasty response? I won't be trying to offer support to you after seeing this type of answer.

  7. After 3 long years, we can be together, finally. Even though my husband's interview was canceled due to the embassy shut downs that took place in over 20 countries, I can't believe he has visa.

My husband said that he couldn't believe it. At the interview he himself even asked the CO if there was any administrative processing and the CO answered that the interview cancellation was a long enough wait.

They told my husband that to pick up his visa on the 20th. But he said he got a call on his cell phone at 3:30 in the afternoon to pick up visa TOMORROW before embassy closing time. Sooo happy.

I still need to write interview review but haven't gotten the chance since I am taking a few things to our new place.

    THank you VJers!!!!

I will definitely keep returning to learn about other's processes.

    Love you all

Congratulations! I am soooo happpy for you!!!! This is wonderful news!!!!!

  8. Hi

You would consider yourself lucky if a senator or congressman volunteer to help u regarding immigration issues. They are just a waste of time and energy. I have contacted my congressman and senator office but with no luck. All they tell me is to wait and they can't do nothing. Anyways good luck with everything and I hope the same thing that our fiances are in the 5% lol.

FINALLY!! August 19, 2013! WE HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED! I spoke with my fiancé today and he said they called him yesterday! Yippee!! God willing, you will be posting good new too! And hopefully Myra's fiancé will be receiving his visa before this date! FINALLY!!!

  9. Your welcome dear, the AP before interview is just their saying of wait a bit till interview and it has nothing to do with the AP after interview and only 95% of afghan male goes under AP but the 5% just get their visa right away or after a week r two. Lets pray that our fiances get their visa awhile after interview and they don't go through AP process. And yes we both r in same situation. The embassy told my fiancé that they will call him for interview almost end of August. You never know they might call our fiances earlier. Goodluck and please keep me updated and stay in touch.

I will stay in touch, I hope we are in the 5% too! This process is too long! I also emailed my Senators asking how immigration reform was going to benefit those of us with loved ones in countries other than Mexico. Is our wait time going to be lessened or just those that broke the law? Of course, they did not answer.

  10. Hi there

They emailed me the same thing. So u don't have to worry about it because my fiancé is waiting for his interview as well. At last after bugging them allot they told us that my fiancés interview might occur late August which is BS. Cause i don't believe a word they say. Anyways don't worry Donna Ur not alone there are at least 5 other people waiting for interview for fiancé in Kabul us embassy. Good luck and hopefully they call our fiancees pretty soon. smile.png

Thank you, Laila. I have been following your posts and timeline as we are both in the same situation. Do you know if this AP will lessen the AP after the interview or is this AP just a way of saying that it is sitting around until interview time?

  11. We are in AP at the embassy, no interview scheduled yet, P3 packet received and replied to. I think this is just a holding state until the interview from other posts I've read on the same subject.

Okay, thanks! I just don't want my paperwork to get lost in the mix! We have yet to receive P3 but at least I feel a little better now.

One can be in AP at NVC, yes.

Thanks but we are past the NVC stage.

  12. Hi Everyone,

From reading the posts here, I am under the impression that administrative processing occurs after an interview. I have contacted the embassy in Kabul to try to find out when the next round of interviews will occur and they responded stating that my case requires administrative processing. I assumed this was a canned response so I contacted my Senator to look into this matter. My Senator contacted the embassy and then sent me a letter stating that my case was in administrative processing. I don't quite understand this as my fiancé has yet to be interviewed. Could he truly be in AP prior to his interview? In his original packet I included our pictures, a completed I-34 form, and a handwritten letter from him which I attained during our last trip to Dubai, UAE. Anyone else with an experience like this? Is the embassy just giving me lip service or is he really in AP? Any help would be appreciated!

    Donna

  13. Hi Laila,

I am working on a K1 visa and our appointment comes from the embassy. Believe me, I have called anyone I thought could help! It is a shame that our fiancés are subject to administrative processing. From reading the forums here it can take a long time. It is over nine months since I have seen my fiancé. I too hope that next week they will contact them for interviews. I hope my Senator can influence the scheduling. I check the visa timelines often to see who has been scheduled an interview and it looks like there is about four of us waiting. I hope it isn't much longer, I feel like my fiancé is losing hope of getting a visa.

Good luck and let me know if you hear anything.

    Donna

  14. Hi Meera,

I am in the same situation as you. Two days ago I contacted my Senator's office and requested that they contact the US Embassy in Kabul on my behalf to find out when they plan on scheduling interviews. I have emailed the embassy twice but their responses are preprogrammed and one explained to me that this needed AP and my fiancé was told this at the interview. My fiancé has not had an interview! I did call the embassy and asked about when interviews were going to be scheduled and was told that this information was not available and there is not a number for me to call and check. I complained to my Senator's office stating that employees of the Department of State are public servants and since they are being paid by tax payers they should be available to me. Anyway, my Senator's office has agreed to contact the embassy to find out when his interview will be scheduled. Of course, not an exact date but a time range which I requested to be reasonable, within two months. Perhaps you should contact your Senator and have them add a little pressure too. It couldn't hurt.

  15. oh well it shouldn't take that long to do that... My case was only at NVC for 2 days and then they send it out... if you have your NVC case number you can track it through this link

    https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==

and once it arrives at the embassy your fiance will get a call from the embassy in a few weeks in regards to the interview date.

    Hi,

I called today and they gave me a number starting with KBL. This person was much more helpful than the last time I called. He told me it arrived on Friday and I should call back next week to get the date it was shipped to the embassy.

This is all so exciting! Thanks for your input!

  16. Did you ask them if they have sent it out to kabul yet? If you get the date when it was sent out... you can track it with DHL and see when it will arrive at the embassy...

I was advised that they received the paperwork last week and all the data had been input into their system. He said at this point another background check would occur. I asked if this is on me or my significant other and he said that he could not tell me that.

Thanks for the head's up on DHL. Of course, I will be calling the NVC very soon!
