  1. Hello everyone,

I had my interview at the Paris US Embassy on April 27, 2016.

The interview went well and I was told my passport should be sent back to me within 10 days of above date.

However there was a brain fart on my part. I didn't register my interview date on the internet and on interview day the lady gave me the info to do it (which I did the next day).

It's may 11 as of this post and still no passport in my mail box. What could be holding my passport back?

  2. My PD is July 18, 2005 and still no letter for the appointment for me yet. I am F1 (ummarried son of US citizen).

DS 261 was received on Feb 13, 2015 and was given a NVC case number

Affidavit of support was sent by my dad late February 2015/early march 2015

June 19, 2015 was a reply from the NVC asking us to send in the DS 260.

Am I off schedule? Did my file get lost?

PS: sorry to chime in someone else's thread but I can't seem to get any answers from anyone.

  3. Hello maybe someone can help me.

My PD is July 18 2005.

A visa case number came up for me and was sent to my dad on February 13, 2015 (DS 261)

Affidavit of support (and the filled out DS 260) was sent early March 2015.

On June 19, 2015, a reply from the NVC was sent back to my dad.

I am not sure what is going on. It seems like PDs that are later than miine are progressing their case but I seem to be stalling.

    Help please. :)

  4. Hello,

I am pretty sure my questions have been answered in some other threads but again many cases are not exactly the same.

My parents (both US citizens) have applied for me to get a green card. There has been some problems and eventually an I-824 form was sent sometime in 2013 (or maybe sooner).

On Friday February 13, 2015, my father forwarded an email from the US department of state. It gave me a number that starts with "PRS."

In the accompanying forwarded email, my father told me to wait for a letter from the US embassy. How long from February 13, 2015 until I get that letter?

My French passport will expire on August 27, 2015. Is it a good idea to start renewing right now? (stupid question I know).

What do I bring to the interview? (I have been told passport, police records, and that's it. Am I missing anything? Do those documents need to be translated?)

Is it true that once the beneficiary's passport is stamped, the stamp is just as good as a regular green card and the beneficiary can almost leave for the USA right away?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. If that is all what it says, all what it means is that there is an I-824 in their system. I don't see that the message says that the I-824 is approved. It only states, that an I-824 was filed for an approved application or petition.

I'm not too familiar with the F1 category, but I think you only have one year after your PD became current to apply for a green card. If you miss this time frame, the petition your parents filed becomes obsolete. Maybe someone else knows a more definitive answer to this or if this rule only applies to CSPA beneficiaries.

    2. The child must "seek to acquire" his or her visa within one year of when that visa becomes available (or priority date was current).

That's new information to me. Wow...some one messed up and...I may be screwed :-(

  6. What was the I-824 approved for (request a duplicate approval notice, request for an approval notice be sent to another U.S. Consulate, or a request to send an approval notice to a U.S. Consulate for derivative visas for family members)?

The notice says: “I824 application for action on an approved application or pet.”

    I don't know much else...My dad's pretty unclear...

  7. Hello every1,

I didn’t know which existing thread I had to piggy back on so I initiated a new one as Rick_ES_USA suggested from:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/337740-f1-watch-list/page-15#entry6576793

    __________

    Here is my case:

I am over 21 years of age Unmarried whose parents are US citizens. My mom is officially sponsoring me but it’s my dad who is doing all the paper work.

I am citizen of France and currently still here.

My priority date is July 18, 2005. (Rick_ES_USA told me this date’s been current since 2012 but for reasons unknown to me there has been a delay)

In June 2009 I received a notice from USCIS approving my case.

In August 2013 (2 months before this thread), my parents received a notice from USCIS that the I 824 has been approved.

I recently received an email from my dad telling me to get an official police record available, 2 mug shot photos, and 2 photos with my face angling to the side.

    What should I expect next?

Is the US govermnent shut down affecting our immigration processes at all?

  8. Hello,

this immigration thing is beyond my understanding and the more I think about this the more stressed and anxious I get.

So I thought i would ask any1 here who is well informed hopefully.

    Here is my info:

    PD = July 18, 2005

    Case approved = June 2009

    I824 application approved = august 2013

    what should I expect next?

I am from France FYI and I have been told I will have to go to Paris where there are US govt approved doctors who will administer the medical test. (I am pretty positive I should pass it no problems).

My dad emailed me and told me I need to get an official police record report (which I just did via internet) and 4 photos overall (2 mug shot and 2 face angled).

Is getting the face angled photo even required at all with these new GCs?

    again

    what should I expect next?

    please help sad.png

  9. Hello all readers,

I am a French citizen who is currently in the process of obtaining his permanent residency in the US.

My priority date is July 2005.

I got an approval of my case in June 2009.

Recently, my US citizen dad (who is doing my paperwork) told me he sent in a form called I-824 to the California NVC, which I read somewhere will take about 3 months of process.

I am concerned about something. There is a medical visit one is subjected to go through and I was told it was pretty pricy. I already asked this on another thread. But in case no one sees it I will ask my question here. How much will the medical visit cost me in US Dollars (or Euros) total?

Thanks for reading and good luck to all wanting to emigrate to the US,

    prvii

  10. I honestly haven't read the whole thread but congrats to those who got what they wanted and good luck those still in process or waiting.

I got a message from my dad. He told me he sent to the NVC a form called I 824. I read the estimated time for process is about 3 months.

He also told me about the medical visit I have to personally fund myself.

Question: How much in US dollars or Euros will it cost for one person?

  11. If I understood you correctly previously, you have already been approved by USCIS.

After their approval the case is transferred to NVC while waiting for "Available" Visas and being being current. You PD is already current.

The paperwork for NVC, involves, paying some visa fees, Affidavit of Support, Police Records for you,... few mroe things that you can find on:

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1339.html

Im not sure what your or your dads situation is, but I doubt its the Lawyer that doesnt know how to do the paper work. But what lawyer wouldnt know how to fill in form? So think about it.

Its a normal procedure of filling out 1-2 forms and provide some document that one needs to follow, no lawyer needed. Unless your dad doesnt know how to do it and give its to lawyer to do it for him.

Not sure what the 90 days is, you just need to be patient with your dad. It a bit fishy business somehow.

    Good Luck.

LOL yea that *does* sound fishy...but then again knowing my dad...it's pretty normal for him...lol...

  12. I emailed my dad and he finally replied me.

He said he had to hire a new lawyer because the previous one didn't "know how to do my paper work"

He didn't tell details as why that lawyer could not do it.

He told in about 90 days he will *hopefully* have some news.

But really...Doing paper work for an F1 category applicant shouldn't be too hard.

Would anyone explain why that lawyer or any lawyer couldn't do it?

    Sounds strange to me.

    really it's not that hard.

    oh well...90 day wait.

  13. I hope I am posting in the correct place for my situation. I just joined as a new member and I need help.

Me and my husband are US citizens. We have a son who is married and he has a 6 year old child. We have no other children. Until 2 years ago, we all lived here in the US. Our son had an L1 visa, his wife and child were on L2. All was going well and they had applied to adjust status to LPR's. Me and my husband didn't do I-130 for them as we only just naturalized, and anyway the F3 family sponsorship category is a 10 year wait.

My son and his family left the country for a vacation and were refused re-entry. They were given a permanent ban under 212(a)(6)©(I) for misrepresentation. We were all devastated, it was a complete shock and we never saw it coming.

To make a long story short, this has had a bad effect on my husband's health. He was the one who had to clear up the mess here, while our son was stuck outside the US with no money, no home, no job.

I work full time and my husband is retired. We are not young people and I am also past retirement age, but I am the one with a profession and we can't afford retirement for both of us.

My husband was always fit and active, no medical problems, then he had a heart attack about 6 months after our family were banned from returning. The damage to his heart has made him quite sick and he needs a lot of care now. It's a struggle for us, especially as I can't quit my job. Our son is desperate to see his Dad but he can't come back, not even for a short visit. And we can't go visit them as my husband is too sick to travel.

We have engaged an immigration attorney to see if anything can be done. He has done a FOIA request for the file so he can see what this ban is all about.

So, I found this forum while I was researching immigration issues and wondered if anyone has been through similar experiences? Also it would be good just to talk to someone about it as we don't have anyone else, just each other, and I try not to discuss it with my husband too much, he gets very emotional and he is so fragile these days.

I just want our family to be reunited. We miss each other and the thought of not seeing them again breaks my heart.

Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading. If I can help anybody by answering questions about the naturalization process I'd be happy to do so.

    Maria

I have read your post from beginning to end. I am sorry about your husband's health issues and your son and his family's situation.

I have no experience like yours so therefore I have no useful advice at all.

It sounds like a tough situation but i am hoping for the best.

  14. I didnt mean NVC is checking on you. I was being polite earlier and didnt want to tell you that your Dad is screwing with you.

If what he says about affidavit of Support (together with your Brother) is true, that means you already have a NVC case number. Its just that your dad hasnt given it to you.

I believe there is a way to get your NVC number, so just dont remember it what the number it was that I called and got it (before I got the email), since its been few years.

As soon as I remember it I will let you know.

Maybe others here have other suggestions. Either way, you should know that you dont have any power over the situation what so ever. If your dad is the sponsor, then he is pulling all the strings. Sorry.

Maybe if you have a better relationship with your brother, then you can ask him about the situation and maybe even the NVC number.

That's true I don't have any power over this but meanwhile in France I am doing some positive things with my life. It's just that I had goals in the US and not to mention great friends who know about my situation.

Thanks for takin the time to answer my posts. It is much appreciated.

Send an email to NVCinquiry@state.gov with this message. You should get a response in 4 days. They will send you the case number with other details. Make sure you fill in your name, date of birth, your dad's name, date of birth, his address and telephone number. Make sure when you are composing the email, in the subject line put in your CIS receipt number. Type it like this: CIS Receipt No. WAC------- and you know your numbers to fill in the blank space. Good luck!!

    Dear Sir/ madam,

I would like to find out my NVC case number

    Beneficiary: > your name <

Date of birth: > yours <

    Petitioner: > your dad's name <

Date of birth: > his <

    Petitioner's Address / Telephone

    > add here <

    > phone here <

^^^That was extremely helpful on your part Westlink. I appreciate it. I will go on and type that email. I will report with the reply.

  15. Did you already go through the process of submitting a Choice of Agent form, an Affidavit of Support and a DS-230 visa application? What correspondence have you had with the NVC?

There are sometimes two different case numbers, depending on which institution is handling your documents. At the USCIS level, there would be a case number assigned beginning with EAC. When the case has been approved and transferred to the NVC, you would have a different case number that would begin with a 3-digit letter sequence, which represents the embassy eventually responsible for handling your visa. For example, mine is KNG for the US embassy in Kingston, Jamaica.

Choice of Agent = Not sure what that is. :(

Affidavit of support = I was informed by my dad that he signed one and even had my brother and wife co sign to insure fiscal security.

    DS-230 visa application = I don't know what that is. :(

I haven't had any correspondence at all because as I said in previous posts, my dad's doing all of the paper work because he has all the info and won't even keep me in the loop.

I am pretty sure I don't have a NVC case number or at least my dad has not informed of this number. The wac number I mentioned is obiovusly not it. I am petitioning as a French citizen so it should be "fra"

    PS: thanks for replying.

  16. No its not the same. If your USCIS case is approved then you should have received a NVC case number.

Considering you mentioned that your father and you dont get along well, maybe that is your answer to why you dont have your NVC case approved.

Best of luck to you. Hope you two resolve your issues and you get your GC, if that is what you want.

How would the NVC center know if I don't get along with my dad? Do they have spy microphones? Or did my dad just decided to screw me over and tossed away the NVC case approved?

Is the case number one that starts with "wac"? Or is it a different one.

I do want my GC but my dad's abusive and is using this GC business as a way to "one up" me. So he can play god. How messed up is that?

    I don't know...

  17. Hey prvii,

When you say your case was approved, do you mean by USCIS or NVC?

Based on your last note, I'm assuming you mean its approved by USCIS but it might not be fully completed by NVC.

Just call nvc, and ask them what the status is.

This is number you can call: 603-334-0700

They will ask for your NVC case number, your petitioners DOB and yours before then help you out.

"To reach the National Visa Center (Immigrant visa inquiries, including assistance regarding the new DS-260 Online Immigrant Visa Application) call: 603-334-0700 (7:00 am EST to 12:00 pm EST) or e-mail: NVCINQUIRY@state.gov. "

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/about/how/how_1463.html

    Good luck.

The letter I got was from USCIS. I guess it's not the same lol.

  18. Have you contacted the National Visa Center yet? They are now processing applicants in 2006. I suggest you called them. Is your case completed? Give us some more information so we can know if you had send in all the relevant documents already because this is really interested.:blink:

    Yea. I don't get it.

My dad's doing all the paper work and he says he has everything under control but I don't know...I think he's being passive aggressive since we don't get along. He tells me I need to be patient and I am the one overreacting.

What other info would you or anyone else need from me?

My case is not completed. the service center for me is Nebraska. Is that center not working anymore?

What number would I call for the NVC?

    thanks.
