  1. A month ago I tried to cross the border from canada to US to visit my fiancé and establish proof of our relationship I was denied entry. They were suspicious about me returning to Canada because I had no return ticket and I was unemployed. They said I needed to establish myself in Canada before I can enter the US. I now have a job and I was paying rent before just didn't bring any proof.

I would like to visit the US in maybe two months and use bank statements, rent receipts, paycheck stubs, a letter from my employer, a return ticket of course, and the fact that I have family in Canada as prove that I'm returning. In your opinion would the US border let me enter?

  2. I dont know personally I would not bother with a paternity test, but if you want to include it thats fine, it is just not conventional evidence

I know what you are saying about the direct link, but what the adjudicator is looking for is proof of being in the same area at the same time so your bank statements should be fine, maybe include a picture or two also

one thing for you to keep in mind, Canada is a relatively easy consulate so dont make your self too crazy over this all

Alright that makes me feel better that my local consulate is easy. But I need more confirmation about how exactly my bank statements prove that we were in the same place. Would the fact that we were baby shopping and the purchase of the bus ticket be good enough proof? Maybe I'm over thinking it but its not like we had a joint bank account.

Also, I understand that we need prove that we've been communicating by phone or email for a certain amount of time. How long would be a sufficient amount of time?

  3. ok sorry if this comes off as a tad dense on my part, but how is it possible you do not have any bills or credit card statements??? your debt card comes with a statement too of withdrawals and transactions...

In order to have a successful petition you need some form of primary proof that you were together

this can be plane tickets, passport stamps, a bill or receipt showing location

you can also include pictures, these are, however, secondary proof as there is no date to them

maybe you have taken a mutual trip together somewhere?

On another note, it does not really matter where you live as long as it is a real place

let me know if there is anything else I can help you with

I thought the paternity test would be sufficient proof because we did make a baby together within the past year. I do have bank statements from my bank account from the time that we spent together but I don't exactly see how that proves anything without a direct link to her.

I also have a bank statement from when I bought a ticket for her to get back to the USA. Unfortunately I don't have any receipts or tickets as direct proof. So I'm not sure how much that would help.

By the way thank you for all your help. I really appreciate it.

  4. Are you in the process of gathering the paperwork to submit you petition? For the petition all that is required is proff that you have met in the past 2 years. For this visa stamps or plane tickets would suffice. If you want to include, note that it is completely optional, and not necessary for the easier consulates to include proff of ongoing relationship, then you can include a sampling of emails or phone logs. Just make sure to include proff of meeting.

Yeah, we are in the process of gathering paperwork to submit our petitions. We met when my fiancé was living in Canada then she moved to the USA where she's originally from so that means no plane tickets or passport stamps. We have a baby together so we're planning on using a paternity test as proof that we met in person in the last two years. So we would send in the proof of us meeting when we send in the petition?
