  1. Anjos is right, for SD both parties need to be present, or else they will give you this ticket and an "open cita" for when both would be present. They wont denied it but it will take longer cause now you have to wait more.

Tell him to take at least a sick day or something. I came back to work from maternity leave and that was the first thing I told my boss it was that I was going to take time to go to the interview.

    Good luck!

  2. Listen I would give her the benefit of the doubt because there are people that really don't know anything but to be honest using "common sense" which I think you have there is no way that you need to be present at the time for her to get a passport. Lets say that you weren't her fiancé that means she wouldn't be able to travel because she couldn't get a passport? No dude, all she need at the that time is her birth certificate (inextensa) that you get at the local junta central electoral close to her home. Then she goes to the passport division and pays the fee which is like 1650.00 pesos ( $40) and it takes like 3 days to get it.

Listen another thing, I don't mean to discourage you but I'm also bringing my fiancé her I've known each other for 2 and a half years and I travel 10 times already during that period. I do love him when one thing I always did and do is always research on my own when ever we where going to do something. Like if we needed to buy something I just didn't when by what he say I would make him send me the picture of the tag from the store simply because people in DR are desperate to get out of there and they would do ANY?THING to make you give them a visa so I wasn't going to be stupid and do anything he wanted. So you have the best tool in your hands which is the internet Google EVERYTHING and find out on your own and until you are sure 100% don't do anything. You could have the best intentions in your heart but you don't know about the other person.

But take your time to know her and don't rush anything If she feels the same way as you do she would be willing to wait. That's my advise to you since I've been on your shoes.

    Good Luck!

  3. Guys intead of going crazy and taking the chance to make a mistake and to avoid an RFE why dont you call the 1 800 375 5283 number and ask them directly. Even thou and RFE is not the end of world it would save you a lot of time in delays and thats what you want. So that is my suggestion I did write N/A on mine were is wasnt applicable and had no problems.

  4. So I'm trying to be proactive like many of you have advised me, I was at the us embassy website for K1 visa application and read that the day of the interview we need to take the following forms:

    Enclosures:
    Form DS-230 Part I (one per applicant) - (KB - 175 Kb)
    Form DS-156 (two per applicant)
Form DS-156K (one per principal applicant) - (KB - 57 Kb)
Form DS-157 (one per each male age 16-45) - (KB - 256 Kb)

My question is: are these form for the both of us or just my boyfriend? I undestand that he is the visa applicant so he should fill them out, is there any other form I need to fill out for myself besides the Affidavit of support?

    Than you for your help!

  5. Thank you all!!

My due date is Sept 25th but I dont think Ill make it to Sept since Dr is going to send me to rest soon since my cervix is thinning so, I'll be lucky if I make it to the end of this month.

MrTee - I did read your thread and I was gathering information but its very confusing to me all the fees and docs that he needs to bring. Does he need to bring a new acta de nacimiento and a new acta de divorcio and a new acta de matrimonio from his first marriage or the original that we send with the i-129 f application is ok?

Plus the fees for the vaccinations are in pesos or us dollars? I get the medical exam is in Us $$.

Sorry for all these questions but im trying to get more info as I can since I dont know whats gonna happen and if I'll be able to go.

Thanks for all your help! and sorry for the incovenience.

  7. Initial Review

On June 21, 2013, we transferred your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), to your local USCIS Office for further processing. The new office has jurisdiction over your case and will send you a decision as soon as processing is complete or you will be notified if further information or action is needed. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

So I called USCIS and was told my case was transferred to St. Albans, Vermont. Isn't that the normal Vermont Service Center?

I'm confused, anybody knows what's going on?

After this step how much time should I wait to get a response for NOA2?

Any advise is helpful. Thanks to you all!!

  8. I was on your same position I was living abroad with my fiance and went to see a attorney and was told that 1) the visa is very clear when is says its a visa to "come and marry your fiance here in the USA". 2) you need to be generating money in other to support you future spouse, so you will need to be IN the USA in other to brinf that other person here to marry.

So maybe to file you could be still living abroad but at the moment of the interview I believe you need to be here and prove you are currently working and able to support your spouse.

So in my case I moved back to the US filed and started working. We are still waiting for our NOA2.

  9. You need to make above poverty line like other members had said. If you dont make anough money they're gonna ask you for a sponsor, this means that somebody will cover for any expense that may arrise. Basically the goverment dont want you to become a burden and start asking for help, such as welfare and stuff like that. So yes is a requirement to make enough money to support your future spouse other wise no visa should be issued, unless you find a sponsor that could be anybody that makes enough money. But make sure how much is the poverty line becuase yoy may think you dont make enough and you do. Good luck!

  10. Im going nuts!!!...Im a January filer at VSC, NOA1 Jan 25th, I call USCIS almost everyweek no answer, they read back what I see on my case status. Sent a letter to my congressman no answer, sent a letter to my senator no answer, sent an email to my senator no answer. Im pregnant I want my fiance to be here before I give birth but the wait is driving me crazy. No RFEs no response whatsoever. Im happy for those that are getting approved from feb and march but c'mon I cant help it to feel left alone. Sorry but I needed to vent. I know all I can do is relax and wait. Have a nice weekend yall!
