  1. I remember when my husband & I went through missing each other like crazy, it's not easy. We used to mail each other things in between visits, just small stuff like a card or a cheapie gift. You'll be amazed at how fast time will go by, then one day you'll forget you even went through this heartache. So just hang in there...

  2. I'm figuring it'll probably just vary then. I remember once seeing an officer hand someone their immigration packet & they were just waiting against the wall. This was in October. So maybe they didn't have anyone at that hour doing their "POE".

BA said we can take the stroller right up the plane & we'll insist on it. Definitely plan on taking along extra food & diapers. Oh the other hand, I bet if the baby started screaming, they would wanna rush us right out of there! hehe j/K :)

Thanks for the info. We have a back-up plan if the wait is too long. I'll go ahead & leave with my parents with half the luggage -- then the husband can take a taxi to their house with the rest of it.

  3. Londonspod - that's just awful that it took 2 + hrs!! I had no idea. :( My husband, myself, and our 7 1/2 month old son are flying into Newark on June 21. Same BA flight, gets in around 5:30pm. I thought maybe an hour tops but 2 hours, wow! It's going to be such a long day for us. What a nightmare really.

So you went through the same line as Americans do, right? I just don't understand how you were in the room before everyone else and still had to wait.

Really hoping it does not take us 2 hours. I'm really worried about our luggage just sitting there too. Guess I'll just tell my family to wait at home till we're done.

  4. As far as I know, DCF can take anywhere between 4-6 months. Don't know anything about the waiver. I would just file the DCF paperwork to start with. My husband was refused a non-immigrant visa back in March 2004 & it wasn't even brought up this time. I don't think they really care.

Once you get the Visa, you will need to file I-751 to "remove conditions" since you haven't been married for the 2-year requirement. That is what we will have to do since we've been married just over 1 year now.

That's about all I can help you with... Best of luck with everything!

  5. We're back home from the Embassy & we are APPROVED!!!!! :)

My family is so thrilled. Now we got 3 months to pack up, sell stuff, and book our one-way flight to NJ!! (DH's job requires 3-month notice.)

There was hardly anyone waiting in line at 8:30. There were a lot of non-immigrant visa people there though but it only took us appx 1 hour. Didn't ask to see much paperwork either! All in all, it was so simple. Oohh, I *think* there was a model there getting a Visa too but I couldn't tell you who she is though but you can definitely tell she was one unless she's just some fine looking woman. Made me feel all ratty, lol.

Good luck to those with interviews coming up!!

  6. Thanks great news!! Congrats!

Ours is Friday but unfortunately I have a Sinus Infection. I went to the GP yesterday who didn't help me, sent me home with allergy meds?!?! So now I need another appointment after the Visa thing is over with. Boy, do I miss my old doctor back in NJ!Anyway, here's hoping I'm not too sick for Friday because even if I am, we still have to go, lol.

It's really good to know they have days when they do not do non-immigrant Visas!

  7. Helps a lot ty! I remember the line when I went to get the baby registered, its all in the same room. I must applaud the Embassy for being so quick with getting his SS # & passport. Kudos for fast service! :)

It's so wonderful to see everyone's Visa getting done & over with! So now its time for bright new beginnings.

  8. Congrats!

Just wondering if your appt was at 10:30, how come you got there at 8:30? Or did it take you two hours to get to the window inside? Sorry to be a pain but we have an appt. at 9:00AM and will have a baby with us. We can't possibly be there 2 hours ahead, cause they're not even open yet, lol.

Someone else told me there were 2 lines, one for Immigrant Visa and NonImmigrant Visa but seems they did away with this...

  9. Good news here, got an email from the Embassy. Our appointment is for March 24 at 9:00AM.

We will stay overnight in a hotel near the Embassy with the baby. Found one that's reasonable that has parking and will supply a cot. There's just no way we'll be able to travel into London for an appointment that early.

Now comes the whole nerve-wracking part, right? :)

My stepdad is sponsoring us & I hope all his stuff is okay. To respect his privacy, I have not opened his I-864. I know that sounds strange but I feel I trust him enough and wanted to give him confidentiality.

As much as I'm worrying, I'm trusting in the universe to get us back home.

  10. We're still waiting also for an interview date! Getting annoyed now. We sent back our checklist on 2/8. We are doing DCF, CR1. My husband's job requires him to give 3-months notice & we wanted to move to NJ in time for my mom's birthday. :(

My mom has not net her new grandson who is 4 months old soon. So I'm really bummed now that is unlikely we will celebrate her birthday as a family.

My husband did email the Embassy last night enquiring about it. I assumed DCF would be quicker.
